The Land of the Whispering Pines
Well, here we are, Christmas Eve day. Last night, we tried the light projector, and it worked. It lit up the entire woods on the other side of the driveway. Wow! It was a spectacular view from my green space next to the fake coconut tree on our fifth-floor balcony; looks like red, blue, and green fireflies flying around in the trees.
Today, there are gloomy grey clouds, but the nice thing is that the cold snap has left, and we are sitting at about the normal temps here, 38°F. On average, the temps here go from 20°F to 41°F from late December to the end of February. 3°F was extreme for here. I was grateful to see snow on the ground when we got home; it protected the grass from frost, and it is coming back out green.
Today's weather is, raindrops keep a fallin'. I love rain in the wintertime, as long as it's not freezing rain. I love sitting in my green space under my fake coconut tree and listening to the sound of the raindrops.
Well, I do not have much more to report from the News Room, except for my bad for forgetting to take a picture of the projected lights last night. I will do so tonight, Christmas Eve; I will put on my light show for the entire neighborhood that can see the trees in the park across the driveway.
Speaking about the neighborhood, let us pray and meditate that someone, a new producer, will give the Sesame Street gang, Big Bird, Snufolophagus, Oscar The Grouch, and the rest of the gang a good home.

Trump is teasing US expansion into Panama, Greenland, and Canada
President-elect Donald Trump appears to be entertaining an American territorial expansion that, if he's serious, would rival the Louisiana Purchase or the deal that netted Alaska from Russia.
In the past week, he's taunted Canadian officials by suggesting the US could absorb its northern neighbor and make it the 51st state. He threatened to take over the Panama Canal, the US-made waterway controlled for a quarter century by its Central American namesake. And on Sunday, he resurfaced his first-term desire to obtain Greenland, a Danish territory he has long eyed.
With Trump, the differences between serious policy proposals and rhetorical flourishes intended to stoke media attention or energize his base are not always clear. At other times, his provocations have appeared to be the opening salvos in his attempts at dealmaking.

Quebec labour minister mulls law change to give province authority to end strikes, lockouts
Jean Boulet inspired by federal legislation, which has been used to end work stoppages
Quebec Labour Minister Jean Boulet is contemplating changing the law to grant the government more authority to intervene in labour disputes.
In his year-end review, Boulet openly expressed interest in federal legislation that gives Ottawa the power to end strikes or lockouts and impose arbitration.
That discretionary power — Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code — was recently used to put an end to labour disputes at the country's railways, three large ports and Canada Post.

La tierra de los pinos susurrantes
Bueno, aqu铆 estamos, d铆a de Nochebuena. Anoche, probamos el proyector de luz y funcion贸. Ilumin贸 todo el bosque del otro lado de la entrada. ¡Guau! Fue una vista espectacular desde mi espacio verde junto al 谩rbol de coco falso en nuestro balc贸n del quinto piso; parece luci茅rnagas rojas, azules y verdes volando entre los 谩rboles.
Hoy hay nubes grises y sombr铆as, pero lo bueno es que la ola de fr铆o se ha ido y estamos en temperaturas normales aqu铆, 38 °F. En promedio, las temperaturas aqu铆 van de 20 °F a 41 °F desde fines de diciembre hasta fines de febrero. 3 °F fue extremo para aqu铆. Me sent铆 agradecida de ver nieve en el suelo cuando llegamos a casa; protegi贸 el c茅sped de las heladas y est谩 volviendo a salir verde.
El clima de hoy es que las gotas de lluvia siguen cayendo. Me encanta la lluvia en invierno, siempre que no sea lluvia helada. Me encanta sentarme en mi espacio verde bajo mi cocotero artificial y escuchar el sonido de las gotas de lluvia.
Bueno, no tengo mucho m谩s que contar desde la sala de prensa, excepto que me disculp茅 por olvidarme de tomar una foto de las luces proyectadas anoche. Lo har茅 esta noche, Nochebuena; har茅 mi espect谩culo de luces para todo el vecindario que pueda ver los 谩rboles del parque al otro lado de la entrada.
Hablando del vecindario, oremos y meditemos para que alguien, un nuevo productor, le d茅 a la pandilla de Barrio S茅samo, Big Bird, Snufolophagus, Oscar The Grouch y el resto de la pandilla un buen hogar.
