Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

Well, I'm alive and well, but not yet ready to dance. 💃 But each day, as the toxins slowly leave my body, I am gradually getting back to full functionality. I actually sipped some coffee this morning without any ill effect. I am not pushing anything, though. What's the point if it causes me to spray lunch?

It's overcast and 38° F, which is a little closer to normal than the last couple of days. Yesterday was beautiful, even if it was cold. With the sun shining brightly and no wind, it was nice enough for me to sit in my Green Space for a while, just wearing a jacket.

A lot of snow, and down to as low as 15° F north of Toronto, and south of the border; it seems the weather was harsher there, just as cold. More snow, actually: some places, like Buffalo, New York State, and Ohio, were even colder with lots more snow, while here on the Niagara Peninsula we got zilch, and the coldest morning we got was about 20° F. You can't really depend on more than a 75% accuracy rate in the weather forecast during the winter up here, and that's the fortcast for the bad weather.

For as long as I can remember, from October to April, when forecasting the weather, you don't need to watch it on TV. One could simply wet their thumb, stick it in the air, and say, "It's going to be cloudy with sunny showers, and a sprinkling of snow," and they would be right 99% of the time 🌥️ 🌨️ 🌫️

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

Before we begin the discussion for the day

MAY WE PAUSE FOR A MOMENT TO PRAY FOR THE ILL, THE DISABLED, THE HOMELESS, AND THE SUFFERING?

I learned what that is like. In the past 25 years. *Speaking of REDEMPTION!

I nearly died from illness, 4 TIMES! AND BEING ILL IS NOT FUN!

I was lucky, or I was lucky G-d was looking after me; there certainly was nothing or nobody else around to do it, and certainly not me. I wanted out of the shit show.

I'm lucky, or blessed, I managed to get enough income to survive.

NOW, I have a pension; nobody is GOING TO STEAL IT FROM ME.

I have HEALTH INSURANCE, a roof over my head, and food on the table. Many in the UNITED STATES will not even have that come by this time next year. LET US PRAY FOR ALL THE DISABLED, THE HOMELESS, and the ILL

"AMEN!"

Cindy takes the preacher's collar off and hangs it on the hook on the way down from the podium, turns to the congregation, salutes, then says, STAGE LEFT! as she leaves in a cloud of dust for the local bar across the street. *JOKE!* and fibbing a little too, I ain't drunk in goin' on ta thirty years now. A bit of weed, *rumatiz medicin*. Occasionally, for the rumatiz, ya know, and I certainly got me a good lot of rumatiz!

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

THE GREAT FALL

WHAT WILL AMARICA BE LIKE IN Dec. 6, 2026

- Google Search -

The U.S. isn't expected to "fall" by next year. Still, rather face continued economic shifts (AI boost, potential slowing) and political polarization, with some envisioning a more authoritarian turn under specific leadership, increased nativism, and growing social tensions, while longer-term issues like climate impacts and debt loom, creating a volatile period of potential transformation, not collapse, according to expert analyses and projections.

Me Question: The fall of the American Empire in 2026

The "fall of the American empire in 2026" isn't a single event but a narrative within broader discussions about American decline, citing factors like political polarization, national debt, economic shifts (rise of China), and institutional dysfunction as signs of waning power, though many sources suggest a gradual, slow process rather than a sudden collapse, with some commentators predicting critical junctures around the mid-2020s (2025-2030) for significant changes.

BREAKING NEWS:

The ‘war on drugs’ felt over. Donald Trump restarted it

The Trump administration’s undeclared war on what it calls “narco-terrorists” in Latin America opens an aggressive new chapter in US history and reignites the war on drugs.

Declared by President Richard Nixon in the 1970s, the war on drugs is a decades-long campaign, woven into American foreign, justice and public health policy, to forcefully stop the flow of drugs into the US and harshly punish traffickers, dealers and even users. It has also recently been regarded — by academics, activists and policymakers — as a failure. Drugs remain a major problem. Their flow into the US has not stopped. The recent trend was away from harsh penalties that predominantly impacted Black and Brown people and toward treatment and education...

FDA in turmoil after exit of veteran cancer researcher

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary is under renewed scrutiny by Trump officials amid continued turmoil at the agency, including a series of high-profile departures that have raised questions in the administration about Makary’s ability to lead, according to two people familiar with conversations.

The pending exit of Dr. Richard Pazdur, a veteran researcher who pioneered the FDA’s approach to cancer treatments, has caused the most concern, sources say. Pazdur plans to retire this month just weeks after accepting a role heading the FDA’s largest division overseeing prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines and pharmacy staples. Pazdur’s departure comes amid wider clashes with FDA top brass over who should lead the agency’s key departments, and how to balance sped-up drug reviews with quality control, according to three people familiar with the dynamics within the agency...

Netflix has a big unanswered question. That may kill its Warner Bros. deal

Netflix’s shocking $72 billion bid to buy Warner Bros. and HBO is the rare corporate mega-merger that can shift the tectonic plates of an entire industry and permanently change the way all of its participants do business. In other words: It’s the kind of deal that could force antitrust regulators to put away their rubber stamps and take out their magnifying glasses.

Hollywood is at a precarious moment, upset by rapidly changing consumer behavior fueled by significant growth of tech rivals, including YouTube, TikTok and, well, Netflix. Why Danielle Smith's government is not withstanding many court challenges

UCP stepping in on legal files, from transgender policies to referendums to 'conservative' party names

It’s been hard to keep track of how many legal challenges and active court proceedings the United Conservative government has tried to quash or pre-emptively block in the last six weeks, but let’s try to tally:

  • The notwithstanding clause to thwart separate constitutional challenges by the Canadian Medical Association (1) and 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy groups (2) against Alberta’s ban on some transgender youth health care.

  • Notwithstanding clause against those advocacy groups’ challenge against the school pronouns law (3).
  • Notwithstanding clause against any potential challenges against the ban on transgender women in women’s sports (4).
  • Notwithstanding clause against teachers’ potential challenge to the strike-ending and imposed contract (5).
  • Bill 12’s provision to block public sector pensions from suing over the Alberta wealth management fund’s past trading losses (6).
  • And then the measure in this week’s Bill 14 designed to discontinue the court hearing about the constitutionality of a citizen’s initiative petition for Alberta separation from Canada (7).

One could argue there’s an eighth case the UCP government’s legislation would nullify if passed — one filed by the United Conservative Party itself...

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

It's a bit chilly out there this morning, 23° F, but no snow; there's snow all around us except the good old Peninsula. It's 2:15 AM, and here I am sitting in the corner of the couch with my laptop, typing out the news, well, at least until I get sleepy enough to sleep, and continue later this morning. Physically, I feel good, no discomfort, just not tired.

So here I am doing what floats my boat. There was a hole in the boat, and it wouldn't float, so I had to get Mrs. Holt, the old goat, to hold the rope so we wouldn't sink. But here I stand as the boat sinks and I go slowly under with the flow, I salute as I sing

"O CANADA OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAND!" ♪♫♭🍁

Had a strange thought go through my mind, yeah, that happens frequently. But this one just wouldn't simply register itself in my memory bank until later in the morning.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

"PLEASE READ THROUGH AND WATCH THE VIDEO."

Not just read, feel it.

THE BIG BANG

Or, how many big bangs?

Multiverses?

If the multiverses were stacked like a deck of cards, which card are we on

- Google Search -

Dark energy expanding till it creates another big bang.

Dark energy currently drives accelerating expansion, but some theories, like the Big Bounce or oscillating universe models, suggest dark energy could change, causing contraction (a "Big Crunch") followed by another Big Bang, creating a cosmic cycle, though current data suggests eternal expansion might be more likely unless dark energy's properties shift significantly.

Actual and potential infinity

In the philosophy of mathematics, the abstraction of actual infinity, also called completed infinity,[1] involves infinite entities as given, actual, and completed objects. Actual infinity is to be contrasted with potential infinity, in which an endless process (such as "add 1 to the previous number") produces a sequence with no last element, and where each individual result is finite and is achieved in a finite number of steps. This type of process occurs in mathematics, for instance, in standard formalizations of the notions of mathematical induction, infinite series, infinite products, and limits.[2]

The concept of actual infinity was introduced into mathematics near the end of the 19th century by Georg Cantor with his theory of infinite sets, and was later formalized into Zermelo–Fraenkel set theory. This theory, which is presently commonly accepted as a foundation of mathematics, contains the axiom of infinity, which means that the natural numbers form a set (necessarily infinite). A great discovery of Cantor is that, if one accepts infinite sets, then there are different sizes (cardinalities) of infinite sets, and, in particular, the cardinal of the continuum of the real numbers is strictly larger than the cardinal of the natural numbers...

Information Is Never Lost

The statement "information is never lost" refers to a fundamental principle in quantum mechanics that is central to the black hole information paradox, a major scientific debate that physicist Brian Cox discusses extensively in his work.

The Black Hole Information Paradox

Quantum Theory Principle: The laws of quantum mechanics state that information about the quantum state of particles can never be completely lost or destroyed, only transformed. This is a cornerstone of modern physics.

- Google Search -

Brian Cox's information is never lost, if you burn a newspaper

That statement is a quote often attributed to physicist Brian Cox. He used this as a simple illustration of the laws of physics regarding information conservation.

The idea is that although the meaning of the words is destroyed for a human reader, all the physical information—the energy, the chemical composition of the ash and smoke, and the heat releasedis dispersed but fundamentally preserved in the universe. If one could theoretically track every single particle, one could (in principle) reverse the process and reconstruct the original newspaper.

Information, quantum mechanics, big band, and infinite potentialities: the micro- or quantum-verses creating a new Big Bang or an infinity of them either by inflation or deflation of the multiverses. This one we live in is only one layer, one card out of a deckful. The one we call the present. What about all the other cards in the deck of infinity, past and present?

Thank you, Brian Cox, for adding more pieces to the puzzle.

Back before computers, it may have taken me a good part of a day in a library to find all this information, but it's there for the looking.

And here we are mucking about in the mud down here like a bunch of knuckle-dragging Neanderthals slinging 💩 at each other, instead of harmonizing, being one with nature, all those beautiful harmonics and colors, the wonderful, glorious, amazing, stunning, overwhelming, and awe-inspiring experience of discovering what awaits us in the multiverses.

Exclusive: Survivors clinging to capsized boat didn’t radio for backup, admiral overseeing double-tap strike tells lawmakers

The two men killed as they floated holding onto their capsized boat in a secondary strike against a suspected drug vessel in early September did not appear to have radio or other communications devices, the top military official overseeing the strike told lawmakers on Thursday, according to three sources with direct knowledge of his congressional briefings.

As far back as September, defense officials have been quietly pushing back on criticism that killing the two survivors amounted to a war crime by arguing, in part, that they were legitimate targets because they appeared to be radioing for help or backup — reinforcements that, if they had received it, could have theoretically allowed them to continue to traffic the drugs aboard their sinking ship.

Defense officials made that claim in at least one briefing in September for congressional staff, according to a source familiar with the session, and several media outlets cited officials repeating that justification in the last week. But Thursday, Adm. Frank “Mitch” Bradley acknowledged that the two survivors of the military’s initial strike...

Everything seemed normal at Minneapolis’s Somali markets: Men sat in barber chairs, women browsed colorful garments at the boutiques and patrons sampled fried sambusas and rice dishes at the eateries, sometimes as the Muslim call to prayer was sung at low volume over the loudspeakers.

But beneath the calm surface, a quiet anxiety was palpable. Pockets and purses hung a little heavier with immigration documents and passports as the specter of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown loomed over the gathering spots for the Somali diaspora in the Twin Cities – home to the nation’s largest population of people from the East African country...

Investors fear an AI bubble. What about computer scientists?

Transformative tech is real, experts say, but we may still be in a short-term bubble

Fears of an AI bubble overlook where tech experts believe a lot of real value in the AI economy will come from: not large language models themselves, but in what we'll build on top of them. It's early days, but we're already starting to see useful applications. Already, AI can help you code, detect spam for you and, perhaps controversially, generate increasingly realistic videos on the spot.

Those in the tech industry compare it to the internet: a general-purpose technology that will generate real economic value from innovations built to work with it. And yet, fears are mounting that this potential revolution is built on an expensive bubble. Valuations are high, and four Silicon Valley giants alone are expected to spend an eye-watering $400 billion US on AI this year. But beyond the stock market nerves, what do actual computer scientists think of the prospects for AI?...

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

I am still feeling weak, but at least my stomach is behaving. I was up and about as usual, doing my daily morning rituals. I don't know how much energy I'll have for anything else today, except right now to do the News and get my butt in the bathtub sometime today. I need to get off this liquid diet and onto more solid nutrition, but neither my stomach nor my gums are ready for that yet. As for how much weight I lost during this bout, I have not stepped on a scale since before I got sick, that's... I forgot how long ago. And now I'm almost afraid to step on it again.

Well, I took my pills, and I am now going to empty the dishwasher and make the coffee.

🙏 ~ PRAYER ~ 🙏

May we take this moment of silence, prayer, and meditation that

THE LAW AND JUSTICE OF THE LAND and the heart and the light of the people be returned to them.

I just got back in my nest here on the couch after weighing myself: 106 lbs. I've lost 14 lbs since my last weigh-in. 120 lbs should be my normal weight. I guess I have some exercising to do, too, when I get a bit stronger.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION

THE HEALTH SYSTEM

_*My Pet Peeve Of The Day*_

Just what is happening here in Canada with our health system? Are we, the provinces and government of CANADA, copying the same health care system as the US? NO HEALTH CARE FOR THE WORKING CLASS, AND THE WAGE-EARNING POOR because their federal government sees them as unimportant NON-PERSONS?

Doctors are leaving the US IN droves to continue their professions elsewhere because, according to one clown 🤡 in charge of the Department of Health and Human Services, now known as... The Loony Bin, or The Trash Bin, says nobody needs vaccines and injections anymore, people don't get sick anymore, they're not allowed to.

And here we are, with rural hospitals closing down, emergency rooms closing, a shortage of family doctors, specialists getting scarce to the point it can take up to a year to see one. WHERE T.G.H. ARE THE AMERICAN DOCTORS?

Bring your skills to Ontario — start working right away

If you're a U.S.-licensed physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, practical nurse, or medical or health researcher, it's easier than ever to start working in our health care system.

Thanks to new rules, physicians and nurses can begin working in health settings in Ontario, Canada, immediately for up to 6 months while you complete your registration. This fast-track process removes a significant barrier and helps you get started without delay.

We've also expanded where you can work. Previously, U.S.-licensed professionals were limited to hospitals and long-term care homes. Now, you can also practice in:

  • primary care clinics
  • home and community care
  • community laboratories

The two-year high school requirement is a new rule from the Ontario government for international medical graduates (IMGs) to be eligible for the first round of medical residency matches in the province. This policy change, which went into effect in October 2025, has been criticized for potentially excluding many immigrant physicians and Canadians who went to medical school abroad, as they now must have completed at least two years of high school in Ontario to apply for the first round of residency spots. The goal is to prioritize Ontario-educated candidates for residency programs, but critics argue it will worsen the doctor shortage by making it harder for qualified IMGs to enter the system, notes CBC and

Who it affects: This rule primarily impacts internationally trained doctors and Canadian citizens who completed their medical degrees outside of Canada, especially those who did not attend an Ontario high school.

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) has expressed concern about the potential negative consequences for the healthcare system.

What it's meant to achieve: The government states the change is intended to prioritize graduates of Ontario's high schools for residency spots, although the policy's overall impact remains debated.

No, American-trained doctors are generally not required to have two years of high school in Ontario. However, recent policies have created new requirements for internationally trained doctors applying for residency in Ontario, which can impact some U.S. medical graduates depending on the residency match process. For licensing purposes, U.S.-certified doctors can often obtain a full independent license with no additional certifications or examinations required. However, the new residency application rules for 2026 require international medical graduates, including some U.S. graduates, to complete high school for the first round of the R-1 residency match.

I think there is a tremendously big kink in this pipe, and no one has bothered to address it or repair it.

I pray that if I'm right, that regulation was set up for international student doctors, not DOCTORS IMIGRATING from the U.S.

OK! I hope. Clear as mud, eh!. 🫟 It's sometimes easier to bring the whole classroom to the students instead of just the blackboards.

I can understand this two-year high school thing, especially if you are going to work in the medical department, you need to communicate in the official language; miscommunication could cost someone's life. If you're going to fly an Alien Space Craft, you'd better learn the local dialect. It may not mean the same as what's written below the red button.

Well, folks, it seems that all we have to eat so far at this poker table are fart sandwiches. (‿ˠ‿) 💨 🥪 At least they're a little more nutritious than air sandwiches 🌬️ 🥪

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

Well, boys and girls, here I am sitting on the couch checking through the groups while waiting for the coffee. I got up this morning with a short wave of my GERD acting up, and it passed over after a couple of minutes, and I made the sign of the cross. It was only a typical episode of GERD and not exacerbated by another condition, such as COVID-19. Last time, COVID-19, the flu, the appendix, or the damned teeth. I hope that's the end of it, or it will be the end of me.

It's cloudy, grey, and gloomy out, but it's nice and bright like it's sunny in here. Two LED floor lamps in the living room, a Click and Grow garden, and the two LED ceiling lights in the kitchen and dining room are bright. LED lights that don't draw much power, even in continuous use. Brightness keeps Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) away.

What also helps is that my balcony is green all year round, with, of course, a fake coconut tree and palm plant, flowers, and even Astroturf. When, in the winter, it's bright and sunny and windless, I can go out in a light jacket to sit and sip my coffee. That's one way to go to the Bahamas, in Canada, without leaving home. Oh G-d, am I ever grateful I never moved to the US. I almost did a few times. And I also say G-d bless to all the friends and acquaintances I met when I was there.

You know what? Out of the ten years + I spent on the road when I was younger, I NEVER met a single person who didn't treat me kindly. Damned friendly people, especially in Tennessee. That's where I spent most of my time. Of course, I never had any problems with any of the Native Americans either. I even lived on the res occasionally, in Canada or the US. Didn't matter.

The Ojibwa people, my adopted people, Metis, called me (Manidoonaateshing-ikwe), the turtle lady, because I had my home on my back, my camper, and truck. They do have a great sense of humor, and I love humor. So that's a good indication there are wonderfully friendly people in both the US and CANADA, and anywhere if you look for them. Everyone LOVES a COMEDIAN unless they have a few screws loose in their attic lightbulb.

Well, this ends another chapter in my Online Diary. I enjoy sharing my experiences with the world and hope my writing leaves a message someone can take home. Thank you for dropping by the Tree House News Room.

May G-d bless you all.

What Defines a Comedian?

- Google Search -

A comedian is a professional entertainer whose primary job is to make people laugh through various means of humor, such as telling jokes, funny stories, or performing comical acts. This often involves developing original material, honing a unique persona, and engaging with an audience.

"Done That Already! Does that mean St. Peter will be mad at me?"

And believe me, the more you do it, it becomes like a habit, so, ya know how habits go, it's like an urge to pick your nose in public. The more practice, the more honed it becomes. 😉 👍

Like. "SNAPS 🫰 !" Think fast!"

And so it was with me and any honky tonk bar with karaoke that I came across. Just me and my (mikinaak,) turtle. Never thought of it, but I could probably produce a book or a movie about just those ten years. If you're planning this kind of life, be prepared to work all sorts of odd jobs and just don't ask questions. Even picking aluminum scrap alongside the interstates can buy a meal and gas.

I AM too old NOW TO TURN TO A COMMUNIST way of life. What life? No pensions. They don't have pensions there in RUSSIA; you don't work, you eat tree bark. A lady living by herself in patched-up clothes was living in a shack in what appeared to be a garbage dump; it seemed like somewhere in the middle of the bush, it made me sick to my stomach, and it stuck in my mind. The town was not in much better shape than the aging lady's shack was.

Immigration crackdown begins in New Orleans today as a new operation is announced in Twin Cities

What We're Covering Here

• The Department of Homeland Security announced today the start of the anticipated immigration operation in New Orleans, dubbing it “Operation Catahoula Crunch.”

• Meanwhile, a new immigration operation targeting undocumented Somali immigrants in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, is expected to begin soon, according to a federal official.

• President Donald Trump said in his Cabinet meeting yesterday he does not want Somali immigrants in the United States, referring to them as “garbage” who should “go back to where they came from.”

• The operations in New Orleans and Minnesota follow immigration crackdowns in several Democratic-led cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Memphis, Tennessee, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

• Trump’s efforts have disrupted every aspect of the immigration system: illegal border crossings have dropped, asylum cases and refugee admissions are halted, and work visas are being restricted.

Costco is poking the Trump bear

Big public companies have mostly treated President Donald Trump with kid gloves during his second term. They’ve quietly avoided conflict while seeking favor with ornate gifts, large donations to his pet projects and strategic deployments of CEOs to the Oval Office.

That’s what made Costco’s decision last week to sue the Trump administration so shocking. Costco on Friday filed a lawsuit that contends Trump overstepped his emergency powers by imposing sweeping tariffs – and claimed the company is due a refund.

Costco isn’t alone. A handful of other companies have separately sued the government on similar grounds, including Bumble Bee Foods, Ray-Bans parent EssilorLuxottica, Revlon and Kawasaki Motors. But Costco is the highest profile public company to do battle with the Trump White House on tariffs.

Few major corporations have been willing to publicly stick their necks out to combat Trump’s policies since he took office in January. That stands in contrast to his first term, when businesses and their leaders felt more comfortable speaking out – most notably when multiple CEOs quit his business council over comments Trump made in 2017 that downplayed neo-Nazi violence in Charlottesville, Virginia...

There hasn't been a time I haven't felt the urge to tear some people a new BUTT HOLE, and that is today.

Tell me about it, an error in paperwork almost cost me my life. I was asked if I wanted to lawyer up." I said no, I just want the person who made the paperwork error, actually, an omission, to get another job; that's sufficient. Don't put someone else's life in jeopardy just because someone messed up the paperwork? Good thing I don't have the name.
