The Land of the Whispering Pines
Hello, folks! I pray that you are all well on this not-so-nice snowy morning. I am beginning to get itchy to get back to my green space on the balcony. North of Toronto is definitely snow country.
I may have grown up with winters in five feet of snow and -20F, which was the norm. Even though some of those days contain good memories, I certainly wouldn't move north again except to visit in the summertime. There are 40 more days. It will be February, and the return of the days will be chilly but sunny, and the daylight will be getting longer. I savor each new day from February until the end of October. The rest of the year, they can stuff it where the sun doesn't shine!
Those months are my hibernating time like a bear; I stay in my den until the cold and bug season gets gone, and there are too many butt-killing bugs nowadays that kind of take the wind out of my sails to want to leave the house during the cold gray days unless it's an unavoidable medical appointment I avoided like the plague itself when I'm "NOT!" sick.
I made that quite clear to any doctors I needed to see. Literally, it's not the doc I have any objection to seeing; it is their bug-infected waiting rooms and examining rooms, and everyone who thinks the bug doesn't exist anymore NOT WEARING MASKS!

The Click Grow minie garden didn't work. I don't know anything about micro garden gismology stuff; I'm used to the Old School, the pot and dirt with seeds, sunshine, and water. Some years back, I had an apartment with double bay windows on the south side, and I had a jungle growing in there. Unfortunately, The Click Grow was a COMPLETE FAILURE!
I still have that fern, though; that fern was given to us by a friend some years ago, and it's still thriving. And, of course, my fake palm trees and grass on the balcony.

Shuffle comes days after Chrystia Freeland suddenly resigned as finance minister
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will announce eight new cabinet ministers Friday and change the roles of four others in a cabinet shuffle designed to ensure the government can function properly, CBC News has learned.
The shuffle comes days after former deputy prime minister and finance minister Chrystia Freeland suddenly resigned, spurring an emboldened movement within the Liberal caucus to push Trudeau out of the leadership.
One senior government source told CBC News the timing and size of the shuffle should not be taken as a signal that the prime minister has made up his mind about his future, adding Trudeau is still "reflecting" on his position.
