Infectious disease expert says growth 'not exponential at the moment' but 'not fully contained' either

Two more measles cases were confirmed Monday in Alberta — one in the Calgary health zone and one in the south zone — and infectious disease experts are watching the situation closely.

Both of the latest cases are in people under the age of 18.

That brings the total in Alberta's current surge of measles to 23 cases, 22 of which are among people under the age of 18.

The total doesn't include one person from Ontario who travelled through Calgary to Taber, Alta., in March.

"The good news is, it's not exponential at the moment," Craig Jenne, a professor in the department of microbiology, immunology and infectious diseases at the University of Calgary, said of the Alberta measles situation.

"The bad news is, it's not fully contained. And there remains the risk of losing control of this, just as we've seen in Ontario."

There have been 572 confirmed or probable cases of measles reported in Ontario since October, according to public health data in that province.

Those two videos hold such wonderful memories of my travels south of the border. That's the America I remember, wonderful people. I didn't like cities; I gravitated to the smaller places, some of which the travel agencies probably had never heard of and maybe still don't know.

Supreme Court to weigh if South Carolina may cut Planned Parenthood funding

The Supreme Court on Wednesday will debate whether patients may sue states that cut Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, teeing up a dispute over preventive healthcare that has been drawn into the fraught national fight over abortion access.

Even if it's a little chilly out, at least it's sunny today; that's about an 80% improvement over the clouds. I don't mind getting REAL RAIN, like summertime rain.

Summer rain in silence and stillness, with no other sounds to be heard except for the raindrops falling, making their little pattering sounds, like little musical notes, as they fall on different objects all around. It's rather soothing. Little droplets hang everywhere like little prisms with micro mirror images of the world around them.

The hushed sound of the rain is reassuring and soothing to the soul, and at this very moment, in the gentle summer rain, all is at peace in the world about you.

But I do so miss the sunny, warm days as well, just sitting out on the patio chair in my green space in summer dresses, sipping on some iced tea, and checking out stuff on the cell. This summer, I would like to do some stepping-it-on-out! It feels good to feel good, and no nagging pains in the butt and no bugs so far. "Bye, and have a great day!" 👋👩
