TREE HOUSE NEWS

Land of The Whispering Pines

🌅🙏Good morning, everyone! I pray that you all be well, at peace, provided for, and be blessed🙏 🌅

Today, I would like to talk about a different topic. It gets wearisome, not to mention wasting time I could use talking about something more productive, like a subject I love talking about, and that doesn't include an insane, deaf, and dumb psychopathic egoistic stuffed dummy. Throwing sh-t at the orange Jabba The Hutt is a waste unless you have a transporter and a spare bag of sh-t and transport yourself to Bizarromarica... well, you know. Bizarromarica, the place where happiness went to 🔪💔😢

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

North American Indigenous Writing Systems

How many pre-Columbian Indigenous writing systems are there?

- Google Search -

Ojibwe Writing Systems:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ojibwe_writing_systems

This one seems to be the common language of the time, like the English language today.

Ojibwe Birch Bark Scrolls:

Ojibwe birch bark scrolls, also known as wiigwaasabak (singular) or wiigwaasabakoon (plural), were a unique form of writing and record-keeping used by the Ojibwe people of North America. These scrolls, made from birch bark, contained intricate geometric patterns and shapes that served as a written language. They were used for various purposes, including documenting history, preserving knowledge, and facilitating religious practices, particularly within the Midewiwin ceremony.

Several Indigenous groups in South America used symbolic representations that resemble letters or writing systems. These included the Inca with their quipu and the Maya with their complex hieroglyphic writing system. Other groups, like the Ojibwe, used petroglyphs and other symbolic markings, though their systems are less well-understood.

From my observation, it appears that written or scripted writing was developed in and around the more permanent residences of the time, like the pyramids in South America and North America, the pueblos, and the cliff dwellers.

The Northern Hemisphere also had one rudimentary method or another of keeping records. How many Prehistoric Indigenous Writing Systems were there? It appears that the northern areas of North America had more well-developed and sophisticated record-keeping systems that have only surfaced in recent times.

These records were discovered to be concentrated in the more permanent residential areas of the time. To the north, they were called mound builders. These populated areas stored the knowledge and taught it to future scribes. The nomads or hunter-gatherers, moving from camp to camp with the seasons, tended to use something simpler for record keeping.

I have always had an interest in the study of petroglyphs since I was old enough to understand the concept of ancient cultures and their methods of record keeping. For example, Sumerian, as spoken in southern Mesopotamia. Then we have Egyptology, a treasure trove of information about one of the most ancient empires, aside from the Sumerians.

Egyptology:

Egyptology is the scientific study of ancient Egypt, encompassing its history, language, literature, religion, architecture, and art. It's a multidisciplinary field that draws upon archaeology, linguistics, history, and art history. Egyptologists analyze artifacts, texts, and monuments to understand ancient Egyptian civilization from the 5th millennium BC to the 4th century AD.

Carney defends knowledge of Quebec culture, Poilievre insists he's no 'mini-Trump' on Tout le monde en parle

TLMEP regularly attracts large audiences in province that elects nearly a quarter of MPs in Canada

Mark Carney and Pierre Poilievre faced the critical glare of the mega-popular Radio-Canada talk show Tout le monde en parle on Sunday in an attempt to woo francophone viewers, with the Liberal leader being pressed on his cultural awareness of the province and his Conservative rival differentiating himself against perceptions in Quebec he is a "mini-Trump."

The show, which regularly attracts up to a million pairs of eyeballs in vote-rich Quebec, is widely seen as a test for leaders trying to win over voters in a province that sends 78 MPs to the House of Commons, the largest number outside of Ontario.

"My French is not perfect. I try to be transparent, I make gaffes," Carney acknowledged, when pressed by host Guy A. Lepage.

All-female crew, including singer Katy Perry, blast off on Blue Origin rocket

Crew also included astrophysicist and filmmaker

eff Bezos's Blue Origin launched his fiancée Lauren Sanchez into space Monday with an all-female celebrity crew that included singer-songwriter Katy Perry and CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King.

It was the latest wave in space tourism, where more of the rich and famous than ever before — or lucky and well-connected — can enter the zero-gravity realm traditionally dominated by professional astronauts.

The New Shepard rocket blasted off on a quick up-and-down trip from West Texas. The fringes of space beckoned some 105 kilometres up, promising a few precious minutes of weightlessness.

  1. Comment, Paula Koval:

Greetings, Everyone! Thanks for visiting the Newsroom.
It's nice not to have Trump as the main topic of today's news. Knowing he's there is sufficiently toxic without ingesting his latest escapades and malfeasances.

This item is worth mentioning. Last Friday, the orange malefactor wrote a letter to the president of Harvard University to warn them that if the university did not conduct affairs as specified in said letter, as our master of disaster ordered, Harvard risked losing billions of dollars of research grants and other funding from the federal government. That sounds like blackmail to me.

The president of Harvard replied today that the university would not follow Trump's orders, funding or not. That's the last I heard. Il duce isn't accustomed to anyone saying no. I'm sure there will be a rant.

And now back to Cindy's topic du jour.

In the twelve years I studied in the American public schools, no material was offered about the Native Americans. We did not study who they were, how they lived, where they made their homes, or how they were run off their ancestral lands in President Andrew Jackson's Trail of Tears, massacred by the U.S. Cavalry, and shit upon by the federal government through broken treaties, unscrupulous Indian agents, forced to live on reservation lands that couldn't sustain the life of a jackrabbit, and condemned to poverty, disease, and early death by the hatred from the white man. Given these attitudes, I see why we learned nothing about those who were here for thousands before the first European landed.

Before anyone "discovered" America, several, possibly hundreds, of societies lived there. All learned how to prosper on the land under their feet. They developed the technology needed to survive year-round and complex societies with hierarchical structures, matrilineal inheritances, rules and laws, and ways to preserve and pass on what they established. Many did that by mouth-to-ear, but some invented standardized writing in their societies.

Cindy starts by mentioning the Ojibwe Birch Bark Scrolls and the Ojibwe writing system, which was adopted as a common writing system recently.

    Continued:

  2. 2nd part Comment, Paula Koval:

Europeans had no idea of the highly developed society of the Native Americans living in the New York state region and westward. The Five Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy were the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk. These tribes, located in what is now New York State, united into a confederation around A.D. 1200, pledging to avoid war with each other. Their laws, rules, and requirements for serving as a council member were written on birch bark scrolls.

In 1754, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson had gone to visit the chiefs. At the time, they were creating the Articles of Confederation for the 13 colonies because they were not yet states. An excerpt from a longer piece written by Benjamin Franklin about 1784. Franklin clearly does not regard Native Americans as "savages": he is using the term for ironic effect. The "savages" are, in fact, as civilized or more civilized than the Whites: it is the Whites who must rely upon force, punishment, and prisons to enforce good behavior". Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson were amazed at how disciplined and organized our government was. They observed very closely and then created what today is the United States Constitution.

Thank you for allowing me to share this lengthy backstory. I felt it necessary because long after finishing my graduate studies, I learned these things about Native Americans. Without iron tools, gunpowder, or any of the "modern" tools of European societies, Native Americans lived effectively from Mother Earth without leaving a mess behind.

    Reply, The Fairy Lady:

Paula Koval: In some places, in some cases, they were just as advanced in technology as the Egyptians and Sumerians; some had a writing, accounting, and measurement system, and they had large settlements and small cities still being discovered. Ruins and foundations of stone and wood structures are being found everywhere with the advent of the drone.

As for The Orange Pus Bag, how long does it take for a puss bag to deflate?
