Well, here on the Peninsula, it's back to the same old, damp, cloudy, gloomy grey crap and cool 41°F and ⛅️. It's supposed to improve by tomorrow at 58°F. 58 to 68°F ⛅️is about typical for this time of year, finally!
There is not much else to report from the Newsroom this morning except that my patio furniture and green space survived yesterday's high-velocity winds. Today, it is cool, with no wind and dead silence out there; there is not even a bird singing. I like quiet mornings, but with some sun and a few birds singing, it adds much to warm up the cockles of me heart. By the way... HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
I suppose I should thank the Great Spirit that it is only gloomy weather and not destructive like south of the border. Let us all take a bit of time to pray and meditate for those without homes in America, and the FAT ARSE **COCROACH** took away FEMA.

Retail sales came in weaker than expected, another bad sign for the US economy
Spending at US retailers last month was much weaker than expected, in a troubling sign that the American shopper could be starting to tap out.
Retail sales rose 0.2% in February from the prior month, the Commerce Department said Monday, up from January’s downwardly revised 1.2% decline. That was much lower than the 0.7% increase economists projected in a FactSet poll. The figures are adjusted for seasonal swings but not inflation.
President Donald Trump’s whipsawing trade spat with America’s biggest trading partners has spurred high levels of uncertainty among consumers and businesses. That skittishness has been evident across many consumer surveys and now shoppers seem to be adjusting their purchasing behavior accordingly. Retail sales account for about a third of overall spending in the US.

Trump says Ukraine-Russia peace talks looking at ‘dividing up certain assets’
Negotiators working to end the Russia-Ukraine war have already discussed “dividing up certain assets,” US President Donald Trump said Sunday as he announced he planned to speak to Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
Trump’s comments come after he announced last week that Ukraine had accepted a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire, putting the ball in Russia’s court as to whether it would accept his proposal to swiftly end the war.
“We’re doing pretty well, I think, with Russia. We’ll see if we have something to announce maybe by Tuesday, I’ll be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday,” he told reporters on board Air Force One during a flight back to the White House after his weekend at Mar-a-Lago.

Prime Minister Mark Carney arrives in Paris to meet with European allies amid U.S. trade war
This is Carney's first international trip since he was sworn in on Friday
Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Paris Monday to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, seeking support from one of Canada's oldest allies as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to attack Canada's sovereignty and economy.
"It is more important than ever for Canada to strengthen its ties with its reliable allies, such as France," Carney said in French before meeting with Macron in Paris.
Describing Canada as the "most European of non-European countries," Carney told Macron he is "determined, like you, to maintain the most positive possible relations with the United States."
"We must strengthen our diplomatic ties to address a world that is increasingly unstable and dangerous," he added. "Canada is a reliable, trustworthy and strong partner of France, which shares our values and lives them through action, during this age of economic and geopolitical crisis."
This is Carney's first official foreign trip since he was sworn in on March 14. He will next land in London where he will sit down with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles. Carney will also stop in Iqaluit on his way home.

No hay mucho más que informar desde la redacción esta mañana, excepto que los muebles de mi patio y el espacio verde sobrevivieron a los fuertes vientos de ayer. Hoy hace fresco, sin viento y en un silencio sepulcral; ni siquiera se oye el canto de un pájaro. Me gustan las mañanas tranquilas, pero con un poco de sol y el canto de algunos pájaros, me alegra mucho el corazón. Por cierto... ¡FELIZ DÍA DE SAN PATRICIO!

Reagan deregulated as much as he could as fast as possible.
Telephone companies, power companies, trucking companies, providers of interstate passenger transportation, airlines, and anything that had regulations suddenly had none. That helped corporate profits but allowed corporations to abrogate their responsibility for safely operating their companies. The limits on how long a long-haul truck driver could be behind the wheel were up to the freight companies. Wires were left to dangle from telephone lines. Airlines cut the time a pilot was required to rest between flights.
To make matters worse, Reagan cut the funding to mental hospitals, and millions of patients were booted out and joined the existing homeless population in America.
Economist Arthur Laffer developed the theory of trickle-down economics, which said to tax the rich less and the middle and lower classes more because the rich will spend more money, and the benefits of that spending will "trickle down" to lower income brackets.
