Tree House News: 🌳

The land of whispering pines.

Hi folks, it's a dripply 💧cool grey day. I was looking at the long-range forecast for the end of September, and they are calling for mostly sunny weather and anywhere from the low to high twenties. I pray that means a quieting trend in the weather pattern south of us as well.

Wow! They got it again in Toronto; they are finally figuring out, after getting inundated twice, that their storm drainage wasn't designed to handle this much water.

Hmmm, I knew that would eventually happen here, too, after the couple of floods they had in New York beginning in 2012. It's the same with the snow. They get whoppers down there, too, and in the Buffalo area as well, it's even worse there than in southern Ontario. We get the tail ends of that stuff mostly, but I remember wondering what would happen if we got a real belly flopper of a jet stream that goes all the way down to southern Texas;

"Houston, we have a problem!"

Well, we did, with the extreme heat we had the last couple of decades, getting worse each year, when the jet stream drops the hot air from the south mixing with the colder arctic air from the north down into the mid-U.S. Well, "Bingo!"

Mom used to look at the sky in the morning simply and could tell you what the weather was going to be the next couple of days. I used to be able to do that in specific settings; here, with the trees and all, I am getting adjusted; it's as close to living with nature here as one can get near a city. You get that sense, but it gets disorienting in a built-up setting.

Other than that, there isn't much here going on at The Tree House, except that we will be packing this afternoon and getting stuff ready to go to my sister's place for four days, 20 to the 23, maybe the 24 as well.

Since my posting anything in the group is a two-person operation because of Facebook restrictions, I may or may not be able to post every day I am there.

If that should be the case, I will keep notes and publish them when I get back.

None. They would be too busy pee peeing on each other's pant legs in the dark, arguing about who should change the light bulb.😄

La tierra de los pinos susurrantes.

Hola amigos, es un día gris y fresco. Estaba mirando el pronóstico a largo plazo para finales de septiembre, y anuncian un clima mayormente soleado y entre los veinte y los veinte grados. Rezo para que eso también signifique una tendencia a la calma en el patrón climático al sur de nosotros.

¡Guau! Lo consiguieron nuevamente en Toronto; Finalmente se están dando cuenta, después de haber sido inundados dos veces, que su drenaje pluvial no fue diseñado para manejar tanta agua.

Hmmm, sabía que eso también sucedería aquí eventualmente, después del par de inundaciones que tuvieron en Nueva York a partir de 2012. Lo mismo ocurre con la nieve. Allá también les pasa lo mismo, y en la zona de Buffalo la situación es incluso peor que en el sur de Ontario. Obtenemos la cola de esas cosas principalmente, pero recuerdo haberme preguntado qué pasaría si tuviéramos una verdadera corriente en chorro que llega hasta el sur de Texas;

"¡Houston, tenemos un problema!"

Bueno, lo hicimos, con el calor extremo que tuvimos en las últimas dos décadas, empeorando cada año, cuando la corriente en chorro deja caer el aire caliente del sur mezclándose con el aire ártico más frío del norte hacia el centro de los EE. UU. Bueno, "¡Bingo!"

Mamá solía mirar el cielo por la mañana de forma sencilla y podía decirte qué tiempo haría en los próximos días. Solía poder hacer eso en entornos específicos; aquí, con los árboles y todo, me estoy adaptando; aquí es lo más parecido a vivir con la naturaleza que uno puede estar cerca de una ciudad. Tienes esa sensación, pero se vuelve desorientador en un entorno urbanizado.

Aparte de eso, no hay mucho que hacer aquí en The Tree House, excepto que estaremos haciendo las maletas esta tarde y preparando las cosas para ir a casa de mi hermana durante cuatro días, del 20 al 23, tal vez también el 24.

Dado que publicar cualquier cosa en el grupo es una operación de dos personas debido a las restricciones de Facebook, es posible que pueda publicar o no todos los días que esté allí.

Si ese fuera el caso, guardaré notas y las publicaré cuando regrese.

Ninguno. Estarían demasiado ocupados orinando en las perneras del pantalón del otro en la oscuridad, discutiendo sobre quién debería cambiar la bombilla.😄
