Land of Whispering Pines 🌲
Good morning! I pray The Great Spirit be with you 🙏 🌅
Well, can't really say which it is out there, clouds? Smoke? I just only know that the yellowish or beige-looking sky is not a usual or very appealing look to the sky. It's more like heavy air pollution, mixed with Cirrus clouds. Or should I say cirrus smoke clouds, unlike the normal hazy days of summer type cirrus clouds, caused by a denser, moisture-laden, and dust particulate-saturated atmosphere that we are accustomed to seeing.
🙏 Prayer of the Day 🙏
Today, I can empathise and send prayers for the Great Spirit to protect those who are experiencing these out-of-control forest fires.
I've only seen one forest fire in my life, when I was around five years old, preschool age. Dad was a clerk for the lumber camp. I forgot the spelling, but it sounded like Calstock. The lumber camp was a large community, a village, located around twenty-odd miles from the town of Hurst, Ontario. I was in the back seat of the car, with my sister, mom, and dad in the front seat.
Dad was behind the steering wheel. We were driving on a dirt road with flames on both sides. I dared not touch the door handle or the windows; I could feel the heat radiating through the glass. That's enough of a close encounter with a forest fire for me in one lifetime, thank you, G-d. I vividly remember that one as if it were yesterday. Although I was scared, I don't think I truly realised or understood how close it was to ... I'll stop the story right there. I am here, and everyone else was OK.
That's enough for me from the Newsroom for this morning, now it's on with the Discussion for the day. Thank you for reading the news.
TODAY'S DISCUSSION:
Fear and Uncertainty
- Google Search -
Surviving fear and uncertainty involves a combination of psychological techniques, self-care practices, and focusing on what you can control. Mindfulness, self-compassion, and challenging negative thoughts are key to managing fear. Prioritizing self-care, connecting with others, and seeking professional help when needed are also crucial for building resilience and coping with uncertainty.
I agree with that when it comes to the regular type of stressors, such as the daily work-related stressors.
The Greatest Stressor in History - 2025 -
Pass the yo-yo, please!
The most significant stress today is the uncertainty of whether you will have a job tomorrow or get arrested just because you work for the federal government; "YOU'RE FIRED!" I believe the Orange Pus Bag gets his jollies out of that one. So now, he believes, we, the people, will find ourselves groveling at the feet of Kink Orange Pus Bag. So, back to SURVIVAL, at The Bottom of The Pyramid of Evolution.

Israel strikes Iran nuclear sites and military leadership as Middle East braces for retaliation
What's happening now:
• Israel attacks Iran:
Israel has launched unprecedented strikes on Iran, targeting its nuclear program and military leaders in an attack that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said will last many days. Israel’s military says it used 200 fighter jets. In retaliation, Iran launched over 100 drones toward Israeli territory, Israel’s military said.
• Trump warns Iran:
WHO THE HELL TRUSTS AN INJUN GIVER?
• Military leaders killed:
• Nuclear targets:
Iran will have to retaliate to save face, former US State Department adviser says
Iran has no choice but to retaliate against Israel’s attack, US foreign policy expert and former US State Department adviser Vali Nasr told CNN’s Becky Anderson, adding that it may take the shape of a prolonged war of attrition.
Nasr added that if this attack was a tactic to bring Iran to the negotiating table, it is unlikely to work.
Washington has long sought to limit Tehran’s nuclear capacity, with the most recent negotiations in Rome last month ending with no agreement. A sixth round of US-Iran talks had been scheduled for Sunday in Oman — and it’s not clear if it will go ahead.
“Trump misunderstood Iran,” Nasr said, and now, “instead of talking, we’re going to see use of weapons as a tool in the negotiations.”
“This regime’s back is put to the wall. If it doesn’t respond, it will lose all credibility, it will be weak, and the Israelis are not going to stop,” Nasr said...

Appeals court pauses ruling requiring Trump to return control of California National Guard to state
A federal appeals court late Thursday paused a ruling that required President Donald Trump to return control of members of California’s National Guard to the state.
Senior US District Judge Charles Breyer had ruled that Trump unlawfully federalized thousands of members of California’s National Guard and must return control of the troops to the state by mid-day Friday. But the order from the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals puts that on pause.
Breyer’s ruling, nevertheless, is a significant win for Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, who sued Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier this week after the president called the troops into federal service in the wake of protests in the Los Angeles area over Trump’s hardline immigration policies...

How Trump got the military parade he’s always wanted
Flying home from his first visit to Paris as president, an awestruck Donald Trump told aides aboard Air Force One that the military parade he’d just witnessed was one of the most dazzling spectacles he’d ever seen.
Get to work, he told them. He wanted one at home.
Eight years later, after several failed attempts during his first term, Trump will finally get his wish. The parade set to roll down Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC, on Saturday will amount to the largest display of military might in the nation’s capital at least since 1991, when a parade of tanks, troops and missiles marked the end of the first Gulf War.
The optics of Saturday’s event, celebrating the US Army’s 250th anniversary but coinciding with Trump’s 79th birthday, have not been universally embraced. During Trump’s first term, military officials warned against a show of force they said was more at home in North Korea than the United States...

Disruption as airlines cancel flights and reroute planes to avoid Middle East airspace
Global air traffic has been disrupted following Israel’s strikes on Iran Friday, with several major airlines suspending flights to and from locations in the Middle East and rerouting their planes to avoid much of the region’s airspace.
The airspace above Iran and Israel as well as Jordan, Syria and Iraq emptied of commercial flights on Friday, according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24...

Joy of Gaza aid boat's arrival turned to moment of fear, crew member says
Madleen expedition 'a movement of solidarity' with Palestinians, French doctor says
Dr. Baptiste André's shirt was still grimy when he walked out of the arrivals level at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris to a flurry of cameras, microphones and questions from journalists.
The French native was one of 11 crew members on the Madleen, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, and among the three — including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg — who signed deportation papers after the boat was seized by the Israeli navy on Monday before it could reach the Gaza Strip. (A fourth person, a journalist, also signed the papers.)
The coalition aims to break Israel's naval blockade of Gaza and deliver a symbolic amount of aid. Most of the enclave's 2.1 million people have been displaced by war, and malnutrition is widespread, the United Nations says. Israel has dismissed the aid boat as a publicity stunt

On the road to the G7 in Kananaskis, a popular wilderness retreat locks down
'It's a big hoopla, for sure,' says bus driver contracted to drive law enforcement outside zone
"Please, allow me to show you my bus that I drive for G7," says the driver.
Willi Mair makes his way around the side of the coach, a late-model Canadian-made Prevost. It's branded with the name of the company, Sunshine Coach, and painted with three slices of sunset red and golden yellow.
He steps up the entrance of the bus and leans into the driver's area. The coach has all of the conveniences, Mair notes — he can lower the front for older people to come on board. It's got seatbelts, for safety. There's a washroom in the back.
*"And it is, of course … air conditioned," he concludes, proudly.*
Just a few days ago, Mair's bus was full of RCMP officers, heading to the G7 summit. They weren't in uniform, but they came carrying heavy bags. Mair, who likes to help passengers load their luggage, was surprised at their weight...

"The light of nature" refers to the faculty of human reason, often used in a theological context to mean the natural ability to perceive G-d's existence and general moral law. Personally, I call it "The G-d Light."

ReplyDeleteHOW CANADA EMERGED AS THE SAFEST PORT IN A STORM OF GLOBAL TRADE
- RBC report finds Canada has the lowest U.S. tariff rate of any major trading partner -
When the war trade began in February, Canada looked like it might have been one of the country's hardest hit by U.S. tariffs. But in three months of head-spinning volatility, the on-again, off-again threats have expanded, Canada has negotiated sweeping exemptions and economic data has held up remarkably well.
A new report from RBC's chief economist Frances Donald and associate chief economist Nathan Janzen found that Canada now faces the lowest average effective tariff of any major U.S. trade partner.
"While Canada's economic path forward remains challenging, it appears considerably less treacherous than it did just a few months ago — a narrative that has yet to permeate the Canadian psyche," they wrote.
RBC found that 86 per cent of the products Canadian businesses shipped to the U.S. last year would still be duty-free under today's rules. Data from the U.S. Census Bureau in April show nearly 90 per cent of Canadian exports to the U.S. remained duty-free in April...
*Effective U.S. tariff rates - CHART:*
* Still some damage:
* Strength from two key fronts:
* Canada may benefit from U.S. isolationism:

Comment, Paula:
DeleteGreetings, Everyone! Thank you for visiting!
Cindy got into more lively topics than I have time to properly address!
Our weather is feeling so much like the "year without a summer" that resulted from the eruption of a volcano in the early 1800s. It's sunny with a chilly breeze!
Last night, Israel attacked Iran and, apparently, destroyed Iran's capability to produce atomic weapons.
Trump's diplomatic mouthpiece, Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, disavowed all knowledge of the attack by America, yet president "Taco" brags that he warned Iran sixty days ago to sign a new agreement on nuclear weapons to replace the one that he, Taco, tore up. If Iran didn't sign a new agreement, destruction would rain down upon them.
Was Taco prophetic or was he in on the diplomacy by destruction from its beginning? You decide.
Canada is seen as a good place to trade and do business by many nations. Perhaps Taco didn't hit the bullseye with all of the chaos and hits to labor forces he caused with his trade war on the world.
If ICE hauls in the immigrants working in the agricultural sector in California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Georgia, and Florida, America might be looking to buy its salad veggies, citrus and orchard fruits, and tree nuts from Mexico or Canada.
It's time to start supper. Keep the faith and help each other through the daily chaos. Have a pleasant weekend.
Reply; The Fairy Lady:
I didn't know Marco Rubio could play the harmonica! 🤷♀️
Thank you, Paula, for another good memoir in the epitome of Kink Orange Pus Bag and consortium of Coo coos. 😯🤣
