Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

It's kind of a gloomy, grey morning, so I turned on a few extra lights to make it look more like daytime. I seem to be better coordinated in the bright light; otherwise, in the semi-darkness, I would have bruises all over me by the end of the day. I am also learning to slow my thinking down to match my physical actions between point A and point B, ensuring there are no obstructions along the way.

That's a hard one to learn after a lifetime of action, required, reaction, motion, and then done! All in one motion! Without even thinking about the mechanics of doing it step by step, I have been doing it like that for most of my life. My instinctive reaction was well ahead of the physical for most of my life, but more reflexive; now the physical response feels like a snail's pace compared to my mental activity, which hasn't changed. Slow physical reactions with a speeding thought process, like rush hour on an interstate, don't mix well.

Experts skeptical of legality of Trump's strike on alleged drug boat

Under intense pressure from Capitol Hill to provide a legal rationale for the unprecedented killing of 11 alleged drug smugglers by the US military, the Trump administration has so far ducked lawmakers and provided a mishmash of public justifications that raise serious questions about the legality of the strike, legal experts and congressional sources say.

The Defense Department on Friday abruptly canceled classified briefings it was set to provide in the morning to several key House and Senate committees, two people familiar with the matter told CNN. Lawmakers and staffers had hoped to ask officials questions about the legal justification for the strike, and even get basic details like which military unit conducted the attack, what type of munition was used and the kind of intelligence gathering that went into determining the identities and intentions of those on the boat...

Inside the raid: How a monthslong federal immigration operation led to 475 arrests at a Hyundai plant in Georgia

A sprawling Hyundai manufacturing plant in a quiet southeast Georgia community became ground zero on Thursday for one of the most extensive immigration raids in recent US history. The operation, months in the making, ended with 475 arrests, most of them Korean nationals.

As state troopers blocked roads leading to the plant and set up a security perimeter, nearly 500 federal, state and local officers poured into the sprawling battery production facility, still under construction. Agents moved swiftly, lining up workers along the walls. Word of the raid spread across the property, triggering a scramble among workers who attempted to flee, with some running to a sewage pond and others hiding in air ducts.

What the latest jobs report means for you … buckle up

After years of plentiful employment opportunities, healthy pay bumps and pandemic savings-fueled spending sprees, American workers now face a sobering economic reality: It’s getting harder and harder to find work, and more and more industries are shedding jobs.

The latest jobs report, released Friday, indicated that the US economy added about 22,000 jobs in August and the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.3%, the highest it’s been in nearly four years. The job market is “stalling,” Glassdoor economist Daniel Zhao told CNN on Friday, “it’s slowing to a dangerous speed.”

Carney unveils billions in funding, Buy Canada policy to combat Trump's tariffs

New measures are 1st signs of industrial strategy government says will transform economy

Prime Minister Mark Carney rolled out a series of measures on Friday that he says will transform Canada's economy into a force that can withstand the trade shocks of the Trump administration. The measures announced in the strategy have been targeted to specifically help workers and businesses that have been most impacted by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs and trade disruptions.

"If you look back over our country's history, we have turned challenges into opportunities," Carney said in Mississauga, Ont. "And now, at this moment of profound change, we bear the same responsibilities and we should have the same ambitions as those who came before us." "We know we need to act now. Invest now. Precisely when it's hard," he added. "We are charting an economic strategy to move Canada from reliance to resilience, from uncertainty to prosperity."

A noteworthy part of the plan is to pause the electric vehicle (EV) mandate, a demand by the auto industry. The strategy waives the mandate for the 2026 model year and launches a 60-day review of the policy...

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

Well, it's nice with bright sun outside in my green space. A little cool, but lovely to just sit here at the kitchen table, looking out at the still mostly green trees across from my green space. Some of the trees are starting to look like a tired green, and even the leaves on a few bushes here and there are beginning to change color. We had ample rain here in the Niagara Peninsula and close to seasonal temperatures, just one and a half hours difference in daylight, about the exact equinoxes of September 22 and March 20. And the plants seem to know instinctively when it's time to change color, even when the climate is still moderate.

Now throw in Climate Change. Weather patterns are going nuts! And you wonder why? How would you react if someone poked you in the eye with a stick?

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

My Take on Climate Change:

That's an example of how Mother Nature feels and heals herself. She follows a pattern like a circulatory system, like our veins. She considers the atmospheric pressure changes, adjusting her garments for the upcoming colder climate, and circulates it all around to maintain balance in all her children's life cycles. When she gets out of balance, it's not unlike when you catch a cold. Don't you get it? The ENTIRE PLANET is a living organism. It is finite, but if managed correctly by humanity, it can be in harmony and plentiful for all. Have you heard of a mother who would let her children down?

But if the children are misbehaving and or doing bad things, Mama will punish! Back in my day, changing diapers wasn't just because the diaper was 💩

ONENESS:

The quality of being one; singleness

The quality of being one; singleness. Uniqueness. Sameness; identity. Unity of thought, feeling, belief, aim, etc.; agreement; concord. A strong sense of closeness or affinity; union.

SPIRIT OF NATURE?:

In the spirit of nature, everything is connected. To bring the natural system into balance, a new economy that is sustainable and respects the limits of natural resources and the functions of ecosystems is fundamental.

ONENESS - SCIENTIFIC TERM:

In scientific terms, "oneness" is not a formal theory but a concept suggested by modern physics, particularly quantum mechanics, which shows that the universe is not made of independent parts but is a complicated, interconnected web of relations where even observers are part of the whole. This idea is also reflected in the theory that all matter is a manifestation of energy and that the universe shares common atomic origins from the Big Bang, implying a single, fundamental origin and interconnectedness.

ONENESS IN SANSKRIT:

The Sanskrit word for "oneness" can be expressed in several ways, with Aikyam (ऐक्यम्) being a primary term meaning oneness, unity, and harmony. Other related Sanskrit terms for oneness include ekatva (एकत्व), aikātma (ऐकात्म्य), and aikātva (ऐकात्म्य), which convey similar meanings of unity, identity, and the concept of a single self or soul.

America’s job market flashes yet another warning sign about the economy

What We're Covering Here

The US economy added just 22,000 jobs last month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. The unemployment rate rose to 4.3% from 4.2%.

Friday’s report is the first data under a new leader at the BLS, after President Donald Trump fired the previous one for producing data that Trump baselessly claimed must be “a scam.” Just 73,000 positions were added in July and previous monthly totals were substantially revised down.

Friday’s data was far worse than expected, with economists having forecast around 76,500 jobs added in August.

It’s the latest snapshot of the US economy under Trump’s aggressive trade agenda, as inflation continues to tick up and there are now more unemployed people than jobs for them...

Tesla proposes Elon Musk pay package that could make him the world’s first trillionaire

Elon Musk, already the world’s richest person, could become the first trillionaire after the Tesla board unveiled a massive new pay package for its CEO to keep his focus on the troubled EV maker.

The package would grant him additional shares of Tesla stock if the company is able to grow far beyond its current value, with a market capitalization far greater than any company has ever approached. Musk’s previous pay package, which added significantly to his massive wealth, also laid out ambitious growth plans that once appeared to be a reach – but which Tesla proved able to reach easily.

The new pay package could grant Musk 423.7 million additional shares of Tesla stock. Those shares would be be worth $143.5 billion at today’s stock value. But Musk would get those shares only if the value of Tesla stock increases significantly in coming years. The company stock would need to reach an overall value of $8.5 trillion for Musk to get all the shares, significantly above the current market capitalization of $1.1 trillion and roughly double the current market value of Nvidia (NVDA), the current most valuable company on the market...

Canadian economy bled 66,000 jobs in August as unemployment rate hit its highest since 'pandemic days'

Unemployment rate rose to 7.1%

Canada's unemployment rate reached nearly its highest point since 2016 as the economy shed 66,000 jobs in August, according to new data from Statistics Canada. The unemployment rate rose 0.2 percentage points in August to 7.1 per cent, a level last seen in May 2016 if the COVID-19 years of 2020 and 2021 were excluded, the data agency said.

The unemployment rate, or the number of people unemployed out of the total population, has been rising consistently this year, up from a 6.6 per cent rate in January. The figures are more dire than some economists had predicted — a Reuters poll ahead of the release predicted a gain of 10,000 jobs and the unemployment rate to rise to 7 per cent.

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

It's not as bright up here in my green space this morning, overcast skies, and a little cool. Just one of those days, thinking if the Sun came out, it would be so much brighter and warmer. But hey, can't complain too much, we need the rain. It did rain some last night. The rest of this week is expected to be much cooler, with temperatures in the mid-sixties to low seventies. A trend towards more seasonal temperatures with sunshine is anticipated for the following week, beginning on Tuesday, September 9th. It appears to be storming up for a good downpour as I sit here.

🙏Let us all pause to pray:🙏

I pray they are getting this rain in the Northwest and East of Ontario, as well as wherever else there are wildfires.

Let us also pray for all the homeless who will be thrown to the elements on the street this coming winter in America.*_ "AMEN!"

_*Well, so much for the local weather for now, how about Ukraine? I haven't monitored their weather before. It's sunny and 79°F in Kyiv, Ukraine. The cold has not set in yet; from my last observations, there is only a discrepancy of an average of 5°F. Kyiv is at least 5 degrees warmer on average than here on the Niagara Peninsula in Southern Ontario.

It's a good reminder for those who are trying to survive in tents in the middle of winter. I fear the same for many Americans this year.

Average lows in Kyiv, Ukraine are 21°F or -6°C

Average lows for Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada: 18°F or -7.8°C

Compare to Simcoe County, where I used to live, in central Ontario.

17°F or -8.3°C. The temperatures, although slightly different by 3 or 4 degrees, they are all well below the freezing mark. Kyiv, Ukraine, being the warmest of the three places mentioned above, is still well below freezing, even with a difference of almost 8 degrees. None is very suitable for tent living in the winter. ❄️🌬💨⛺️

Trump asks Supreme Court to save his emergency tariffs

President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged the Supreme Court to step into the fray over his emergency tariffs, putting the centerpiece of his economic agenda in the hands of the justices who have mostly backed his sweeping view of executive power, according to a copy of the appeal obtained by CNN.

Trump is pressing the justices to overturn a lower court ruling that found his administration acted unlawfully by imposing many of his sweeping import taxes, and he has framed the case in existential terms. “The stock market needs the tariffs, they want the tariffs,” Trump said Tuesday in the Oval Office, asserting that an adverse decision would mean “devastation for our country.”

The case once again raises fundamental questions for the court about a president’s power to act unilaterally and without explicit authority from Congress. Trump’s critics note that the last president to raise tariffs under similar circumstances was Richard Nixon, and Congress later pared back the president’s power.

The lower court’s decision, the Trump administration argued to the Supreme Court, “would, in the president’s view, unilaterally disarm the United States and allow other nations to hold America’s economy hostage to their retaliatory trade policies.”

TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

It's wonderful up here in my green space, overlooking the trees across from us. Sun's just risin' as I watch the lazy streamers of steam from my coffee cup. Another peaceful sunny morning, and all that can be heard is the distant idling engines of ships on the Welland Canal. Sounds much like idling locomotives, which is what they are, gigantic diesel engines.

I grew up with the railway only a couple of miles away; the ships on the canal remind me of that. Just pausing to marvel for a moment at that accomplishment, all those steel rails laid across the country carrying all that massive weight of locomotives and train cars across miles of wilderness, mountain hills, and on elevated steel truss bridges over rivers and lakes and through cities. What a feat that was just to build the track beds, rails, and bridges to support all that weight.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

FAILING INFRASTRUCTURE

Because Of Greed

Followed From Above:

That kind of stuff amazes me. Have you ever wondered how much steel that would take, just for the rails, trestles, and truss bridges? Steel is a core metal, and as time passes, miners will have to dig deeper to get to it. I wonder what will happen when the Earth suddenly becomes as porous as the passageways in an ant hill? I suppose that was why I returned to college, to study engineering and architectural design as well as basic cartography.

One helpful way to use those holes would be to fill them by establishing an underground city. Toronto has proven it can be done, and they are only scratching the surface. There are many such underground enterprises in Europe, some as ancient as the pyramids. Same with highways, why spread horizontally and eat up all that land? Why not go up, multi-lane highways on multiple levels or decks? Especially knowing that the problem with the expansion of the circulatory system, we call roads and interstates, between major cities, is only going to grow more in demand as the population grows. Even if we did have a population reduction, either human-caused or natural, the problem will return.

Well, I knew all this stuff way back then, and I learned how to draw concepts born from my mind and translate them onto paper on a drafting board. However, since I didn't have a Ph.D. or a doctoral certificate or any other document with a degree on it, except for those related to drafting and designing, I learned what I learned by reading books and using my imagination. So to those in the outside world, I was just a nobody with weird ideas. Today, I am an equal, whether they like it or not. I'm an empath as well as a savant. I would proudly stand beside Neil deGrasse Tyson on the stage on Stephen Colbert's show.

Savant:

The meaning of that word can also simply mean *a wise and learned person*

Empath:

- Google Search -

a person described as having a heightened ability to feel and absorb the emotions, energies, and even physical symptoms of those around them, often to a degree that goes beyond typical empathy.

Federal appeals court says Trump unlawfully invoked the Alien Enemies Act for deportations

A divided federal appeals court on Tuesday said President Donald Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to rapidly deport alleged Venezuelan gang members is unlawful and blocked its use in several southern states, issuing another blow to Trump’s invocation of the 18th century law.

The Fifth US Circuit Court of Appeals said in a 2-1 ruling that Trump cannot move forward with using the sweeping wartime authority for deportations in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The president has not leaned on the 1798 law for removals since mid-March, when his invocation of it sparked the first in a series of legal challenges...

The high court paused Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act

Poilievre calls for temporary foreign worker program to be scrapped

Plan would involve keeping immigration stream for agriculture workers

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre wants the federal government to axe the temporary foreign worker program, saying it has flooded the market with cheap labour and made it harder for young Canadians to find work.

"The Liberals have to answer, 'Why is it that they are shutting our own youth out of jobs and replacing them with low-wage, temporary foreign workers from poor countries who are ultimately being exploited,'" Poilievre said in Mississauga on Wednesday. The Conservatives say that while they want the temporary foreign worker (TFW) program scrapped, they will create a separate, standalone program for legitimately difficult-to-fill agricultural labour.

Carney meets with cabinet amid an unresolved trade war and looming budget

Public interest in Trump's tariff war subsiding a bit, pollster says

Prime Minister Mark Carney is sitting down with his cabinet to chart out the government's fall plan as he prepares to face off against Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre for the first time in the House of Commons amid an unresolved trade war with the United States.

Carney's two days of talks in the Greater Toronto Area start Wednesday with plans to focus on helping industries hit hard by Trump's tariffs, building affordable homes, speeding up big infrastructure projects, spending more on defence and combatting crime. David Coletto, CEO and founder of Abacus Data, said he's seeing evidence that the public's focus on U.S. President Donald Trump is starting to subside, putting pressure on Carney's government to answer how it plans to tackle other problems.
