BREAKING NEWS:

Demonstrators protest Trump-backed redistricting plans at over 200 events across the country

At parks, coffee shops, churches and government buildings around the country, hundreds of groups are gathering today with a simple message: “Stop the Trump takeover.”

The rallies are a bid to combat Republican-led plans to redraw congressional maps. The main event will take place in Texas, where a new congressional map backed by President Donald Trump that could net Republicans five additional seats in the 2026 midterm elections inspired the state’s Democratic lawmakers to flee the state – preventing the quorum needed to vote.

“Trump is terrified of the American people,” said the Texas for All Coalition, which is helping organize the events, in a news release. “He knows he can’t win on his ideas, so he’s trying to take Congress by hook or by crook – and he’s doing it by silencing the voices of communities of color. We’re not going to let that happen.”

Organizers emphasized “a commitment to nonviolence” at all events in event page descriptions. Over 200 events are planned in 34 states, according to the event’s official website. The Democratic National Committee is helping organize events, it announced in a news release.

Texas Republicans call new special session for redistricting, this time with Democrats expected back

  • Austin, Texas, rally:

Lawmakers gather on the House floor on the day of a special session of the Texas House after Democratic lawmakers left the state to deny Republicans the opportunity to redraw the state's 38 congressional districts, in Austin, Texas, August 15, 2025.

  • Nationwide demonstrations:

Events were organized by local activists in each city, including this one in Wilton Manors, Florida.

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

Boy! this whole planet needs a good blessing if you ask me. We can start by using the Pacific Ocean as the source of holy water to wash off the dirt. Like when the doctor spanks a baby at birth, maybe a good slap upside the head to wake them up as well, and also for good luck, wouldn't hurt them at all. If it worked, I would have used a boxing glove, kid. Watch where you step. Or you could end up with 💩 under your shoe. Just kiddin', I had eleven children go under my roof, three my own and eight foster children or OP's children, and I didn't have to raise a hand, and none of them are on the street or have seen the inside of a jail cell, in other words, dey's a doin' fine.

I grew up in Canada with a distinctly American way of thinking and living, influenced by slogans, sayings, and a similar lifestyle to that in America. The old saying, *patois*, Commerce and tourism are like a well-lubricated and finely tuned machine. Laws and regulations being very much the same made for a porous border: if America caught a cold, Canada would sneeze.

WE WERE ONE NATION! Now we are a nation unto ourselves, separate from America. America is no longer America, and whatever replaced it has turned it into Bizarromarica. Our ENEMY is not so much the People of America as it is one person; we can no longer trust AmericaKink Orange Slime Bag.

We, Canadians, need to DEPEND ON ONE ANOTHER TO SURVIVE, and yes! American friends, among other nations, we could use all and anyone who wants to participate in the building of A NEW NATION. Cmon, CANADA PULL THE RAG OUT! In this case, streamline the "Fn! Paperwork, eh! A new nation will require a more streamlined way of transacting between nations, eliminating unnecessary paperwork and saving the lives of a few trees in the process. Isn't that what AI is supposed to do?

There is so much beauty in this world, and all a man wants to do is crap all over it. Why? 90+ times, those little pieces of useless, cheap, fabricated paper made from many dead trees. You know, those who act like bullies in your playpen, destroying all your toys because jealousy is a significant driver, or those who simply enjoy destroying and hurting the defenseless, driven by jealousy, brutality, and apathy.

In my continuous search for ways to help bring people seeking to find work and move to Canada, and advice for navigating the government's paperwork requirements, all from a group that doesn't want to take your money for the help (so far as I know), I offer you my latest find:

Have there been 'any' american doctors hired by Canada in 2025?

Yes, there has been an increase in American doctors seeking to practice in Canada, and some have been hired, particularly in Ontario, in 2025. The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) has reported a significant rise in U.S. medical graduates creating accounts on their platform, indicating interest in Canadian licensure. Ontario, specifically, has taken steps to facilitate the entry of U.S. physicians by removing barriers and streamlining the process for licensure.

*Here's a More Detailed Breakdown*

Increased interest:

The MCC has seen a 718% increase in U.S. medical graduates opening accounts on their "physiciansapply.ca" portal between November 2024 and April 2025. This portal is a key step for international medical graduates seeking to practice in Canada.

  • Ontario's actions:

Ontario has been actively working to attract U.S. doctors. They've expanded "as of right" legislation to include U.S. board-certified physicians, removed restrictions on where they can practice, and are simplifying the process for them to obtain licenses and work permits.

  • Reasons for the shift:

Some U.S. doctors are seeking to relocate to Canada due to the political and economic climate in the United States, as well as to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in Canada.

  • Recruitment efforts:

Canadian recruiters have reported a significant increase in American doctors seeking positions in Canada.

  • Licensing process:

While there's an increase in interest and efforts to facilitate the process, U.S. doctors still need to go through the standard Canadian immigration and licensing procedures, including federal work permit and provincial licensing requirements.

Update: There's evidence of a significant increase in interest and applications from U.S. physicians seeking to practice in Canada, including in July.

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

Well, what do you know, surprise, surprise, it rained! I don't know how much, but the ground appears to have had a good soaking. I pray we accomplish a bit more before the end of the day.

I am not certain if I will be here, in the Newsroom, tomorrow, but it's unlikely. If I am, it will be only a short note. We will be going to my sister's in Barrie and bringing her back with us to stay for a week. I will be on next week, sometimes in the afternoon of August 15th. The news reports may not be as consistent or as lengthy as the latest news updates; they will be more in the form of reports on my daily activities. And whatever crops up on the latest on the Kink Taco News. As my Mom would have said, the Orange Anus from Uranus' face resembles the side of a busted boot.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

Physical Reflexes & AGE

- Google Search -

Physical reflexes can deteriorate with age due to natural changes in the nervous system and muscles. These changes can lead to slower reaction times and reduced reflex responses. While some decline is normal, certain conditions can also cause or exacerbate reflex loss.

Note: I never say I hope; hope can't stop the train from running over you. Should I just twitch in my clothes instead of taking action and jumping? Old people make for good clothes twitchers; they twitch in their clothes instead of taking "action", no stage left or right, just stay put and let the curtains drop on you. So if you see a train coming and all you do is shake or twitch, you may save the lives of the fleas you got from the dog, but all that's left of you is your two shoes, your cane, and a puff of dust. It was a little like that for me this morning, like the deer frozen in the headlights of a car.

There's nothing wrong with the upstairs software; it's working at 100% capacity all the time. The psychological reaction is much faster than the physical as you get older. That's why people after 65 should not be doing intricate operations with a delayed physical response time. Great for working at home, where you have time to develop and present any given idea, presentation, or proposal. Working at home gives you more time to organise, and more time to adjust your thinking and planning as you go, without being constrained by the clock.

This is why they have PENSIONS for the elderly and retired folks. An older adult is not 100% reliable or even safe on the job. However, one can choose to do whatever they desire online, such as crafts, gardening, a business, a hobby, psychology, science, technology, or, as I am presently doing, news gathering and reporting.

But I am completely useless, a couch potato in the fetal position in the corner of the couch when I have both the stomach acting up and a pain in the side of my face, like I have right now! Like I was struck there by a baseball bat. I can understand why an employer is hesitant about hiring anyone over 65. At home, YES! the cerebral cortex is still 100% fully functional, especially if I can bring the pain to a manageable level so I can think.

Russian foreign ministry pours cold water on idea of territory "swapping"

A Russian foreign ministry official has poured cold water on the idea that both Russia and Ukraine would need to swap territory to reach a peace agreement.

“The territorial structure of the Russian Federation is enshrined in our country’s Constitution. That says it all. Therefore, as far as the Russian delegation’s goals in the Alaska talks are concerned, they are dictated exclusively by national interests,” Alexey Fadeev, deputy director of the ministry’s Department of Information and Press, said today.

Fadeev appeared to be referring to Russia’s illegal annexation of the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, in which Moscow held sham referendums in 2022 to lay formal claims to areas under Russian control as well as land never occupied by Russian forces. The annexation has been denounced by Ukraine’s allies and is not internationally recognized.

Air Canada says it will begin cancelling flights ahead of possible weekend strike

CUPE gave the airline a 72-hour strike notice after the two sides reached an 'impasse' in talks

Air Canada says it will begin cancelling flights on Thursday ahead of a potential strike that could see more than 10,000 flight attendants walk off the job this weekend.

The country's largest airline said the gradual suspension of flights — which would lead to more cancellations on Friday, before a complete cessation of flying by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge by the weekend — would allow for an orderly shutdown. About 130,000 customers a day could be affected by a disruption, according to Air Canada.

Manitoba was supposed to get 150 doctors from a recruitment firm. The province got 2

A staffing agency hired by Manitoba's former Progressive Conservative government on a promise to recruit 150 doctors to the province in fact only managed to bring two. The two-year contract with Canadian Health Labs was initially hailed as a critical piece in Manitoba's efforts to find more doctors, particularly in rural and northern areas, where jobs are typically harder to fill.

Racism and Greed

It seems that, today, if someone falls overboard from a ship's deck with a briefcase containing money, the rescue team would rescue the briefcase and disregard the person flailing in the ocean.

WHO STOLE THE MONEY? That's the way it usually goes, eh! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTH CARE! These greedy thieves would literally steal from a blind person. I pray that they, the thieving cockroaches,🪳 🪳 🪳 do "BOIL IN THE SEVENTH CIRCLE OF HELL IN BOILING 💩 !!!"

The day of reckoning will come for those who worship money as their god, and people are just numbers in a periodic report. Premier Ford of Ontario is one of these, as he loots the funding for Ontario's Health Insurance Plan in his efforts to privatize it with his pals in the healthcare business, like "Scissorhands" Harris. And how useless it is when it comes to the value of life and living a healthy physical and spiritual life. AMEN!

And before we Canadians pat ourselves on the back for the good we actually do for one another, racism in medicine is real.

Trump’s pick for BLS commissioner suggests suspending the monthly jobs report

EJ Antoni, nominated by President Donald Trump Monday to become the next commissioner for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, suggested that the agency should suspend its monthly jobs report, claiming it is unreliable and frequently overstated.

Antoni, *in an interview with Fox Business News* that took place before his nomination and was published Tuesday, said the BLS should instead publish quarterly data after it had been revised until BLS can ensure its monthly jobs data is more accurate.

“Until it is corrected, the BLS should suspend issuing the monthly job reports but keep publishing the more accurate, though less timely, quarterly data,” he told Fox Business. “Major decision-makers from Wall Street to D.C. rely on these numbers, and a lack of confidence in the data has far-reaching consequences.” ...

“I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Highly Respected Economist, Dr. E.J. Antoni, as the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Monday

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

It is forecast to rain today, but all I see is a hazy, milky blue sky with the odd puffy-looking clouds, that's it, so far. I heard on the Buffalo weather forecast that heavy rains are coming in from the northwest and moving east, toward the areas with fires in Manitoba and Ontario.

Local forecast for the Niagara Region is:

A possible intermittent thunderstorm, 94° F with 71% humidity.

Let us take a moment to send prayers and meditation to those who have been stricken and left homeless by the nasty weather everywhere. Pray especially for those who are in need, with the fallen and failing federal aid safety net in the US.

The question remains: When America falls apart and thousands of people need help that the American government no longer provides, will Canada's government help? I believe we will, but will Canadians delivering aid to needy Americans be shot at by Trump's forces like aid workers have been shot in Gaza? Or will America become a nuclear wasteland? ☢️ KEEP OUT!

What will happen to America without engineers, scientists, researchers, and science Ph. D.s, from quantum mechanics to healthcare workers, economic developers, and manufacturers? The Constitution is the law of the land, but the Executive Branch and the Congress disregard it as if it were yesterday's newspaper. Trump has taken funding from the program that maintains America's nuclear missiles. Who will keep them safe and ready, or do the maintenance required to keep the country's gears greased and all working parts lubricated? The country's infrastructure will be severely compromised. At least if I had any sanity, if I wanted to be the Grand Poobah Leader, I would have a backup plan to reestablish a new system or regime.

I don't see that happening in America. Trump is obsessed with being the Queen Ant, and the rest are all obedient worker ants. I don't have a fiddler's bow string on the violin 🎻in the Dueling Banjos of an idea where the next stroke on the old banjo will be. 🪕

Trump wanted manufacturers to diversify away from China. Now many that heeded that call face stiff new tariffs

As US tariffs on China surged over the past decade, South and Southeast Asia became key destinations for foreign and Chinese companies to diversify their supply chains.

But with US President Donald Trump’s protectionist swing going truly global in his second administration, these nations now find themselves caught in the crossfire – facing some of the highest tariffs in the world and a rapidly shifting global trade order that could *pinch American consumers.*

Many regional leaders publicly celebrated the new US tariff figures when they were released last week, keen to remind domestic audiences that they were lower than those initially threatened by Trump. But analysts and economists warn the new levies are still historically steep and should not be shrugged off.

“It’s a gut punch to these countries and they need to try to negotiate it lower,” said Dan Ives, global head of research at financial services firm Wedbush Securities. “The worry is US is trying to cut off China’s export routes and it speaks to the high tariffs facing these nations.” Country-specific tariffs aren’t the only concern for nations and businesses in the region...

Trump expected to announce mobilization of hundreds of National Guard troops in DC, sources say

President Donald Trump is expected to announce the activation of hundreds of DC National Guard troops this morning as part of his effort to address crime in the nation’s capital, two US officials told CNN.

The DC National Guard forces are expected to be providing safety and security support to law enforcement, though one of the officials said many of the operational specifics still remain unclear, such as where they will be placed throughout the city, what their command-and-control chain will be, and for how long they will be activated.

Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are expected to be at the announcement with Trump. The official said up to roughly 800 troops in the DC National Guard are expected to be activated. Among the subordinate units of the DC Guard is a military police battalion, complete with maintenance and medical support, and an aviation support battalion.

While National Guard units around the country report to their state’s governors, the DC National Guard falls under the authority of the president, which is typically delegated to the secretary of the army...
