TREE HOUSE NEWS🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

It's certainly a beautiful morning; the sun is shining, 😎 🌞 and I'm sitting next to the open sliding doors that lead to my green space. 🍃 I tried to set myself up with my laptop 💻 in my green space, but it was too bright; I couldn't see what was on the monitor, so I did the next best thing. I settled comfortably at the kitchen table with my laptop next to the sliding glass doors 🪟 to my greenspace. These laptops are fantastic inventions, allowing us to carry them anywhere and perform the same tasks as desktops 🖥 we used to use, eh! SEE, MA! NO CORDS! 🔌 Heck, I remember when I used to have to take an extra bag just to hold all the cords along with my laptop bag, which felt like a ton.

Nowadays, cell phones have almost as many features as laptops. What next, one may ask? What about holographic TV? And the artificial gravity machine is a dream come true for older adults. No more dropping stuff on the floor and banging shinbones on furniture if you can float across the room. Welcome to my subterranean chateau on the shores of Lake Transylvania, accessible via an underground entrance, CG-S1, located in Sector 2 of Valles Marineris in Mars.

That will be about it for me from the Newsroom. The Newsroom is also known as the Discussion Room when I have my editor, Paula, on board; by myself, it's simply the Newsroom. Thank you for reading the News.*_

Postering? 🧏‍♀️ You damned right, and it don't seam like Trump is holding all the cards.

A good gambler 😎 holds their cards close to their chest; it may be only a handful of twos and threes but smiles like the Cheshire cat like it was all aces. 🅰️ How do you like those chestnuts, 🌰 Mr Orange Pus Bag? 🤮 🧳 Tit-fer-Tat is all this cheep rusty Tin Can god on far right wants, and his dunce cadets, the trumpeters, that's all they can understand—an eye for an eye. No empathy, that's only for sissies. And becoming more commonplace in American society. I close my case.

He is, The Enemy within, is THE FAR RIGHT.

BREAKING NEWS:

Federal byelection called for Aug. 18 in Alberta's Battle River–Crowfoot riding

Former Conservative MP Damien Kurek resigned so Pierre Poilievre can run for his seat

A federal byelection will be held in the Alberta riding of Battle River–Crowfoot on Aug. 18, Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced, setting the stage for Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre's potential return to the House of Commons.

The announcement on Monday came less than two weeks after Conservative MP Damien Kurek officially stepped down from his seat.

Kurek signalled his intention to resign last month so Poilievre could run in the riding — one of the safest Conservative seats in the country.

But according to House rules, Kurek needed to wait 30 days after his election was posted in the Canada Gazette before he could actually step down. Voters in Poilievre's former Ottawa-area riding of Carleton elected Liberal MP Bruce Fanjoy in a stunning upset. Poilievre had been elected seven straight times in the riding since 2004...

Amid Manitoba's devastating wildfire season, replanting aims to restore forests, fight climate change

3 million seedlings planted in Devils Lake last spring in project to restore forest ravaged by 2021 wildfire

At 5:30 a.m., the first alarm goes off, and Marley Moose wakes up in a tent set up in Manitoba's Interlake.

Her clothes are dusted in dirt and have a lingering smell, after she spent about 10 hours the day before shovelling to make room for hundreds of seedlings among charred trunks in Devils Lake, a pocket in the Interlake region that's about 300 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.

Blue-Green Planet Project, a tree-planting company that focuses on sustainability, has been working in partnership with forest services provider Nisokapawino Forestry Management to restore a part of Manitoba's canopy by planting 20 million trees by 2030...

Is Canada now free of internal trade barriers? Not yet, says expert

Breaking down interprovincial trade barriers is still a work in progress, says expert

Federal and provincial leaders are working to dismantle internal trade barriers that push up the cost of goods and make it harder to do business within Canada. But anyone expecting all of them to be gone by tomorrow should read the fine print, experts say.

Throughout the spring federal election campaign, Mark Carney as Liberal leader repeatedly vowed to "eliminate" interprovincial trade barriers and create "free trade by Canada Day." The rhetoric has been at times confusing and the political scorecard on this one is hard to track.

With July 1 just a day away, Carney's government has passed its planned changes into law — but it's more like the start of a conversation than the final word, says internal trade expert Ryan Manucha.

  • Carney promised big changes by Canada Day. Will he deliver?
  • Provinces hold power:
  • Ontario signs deals with Saskatchewan, P.E.I. and Alberta to reduce trade barriers
  • Nova Scotia reducing trade barriers with 5 provinces
  • Lack of consensus:

Brush fire grows overnight

The brush fire that authorities believe was intentionally set by a suspect who then opened fire on responding firefighters, killing two and injuring a third, has grown overnight.

The blaze, now dubbed the Nettleton Gulch Fire, continues to burn and has grown to 26 acres, from 15 to 20 acres on Sunday evening, according to the Idaho Department of Lands. Firefighters are contending with tricky terrain, the agency said Sunday, with numerous snags and steep areas to navigate as they work.

  1. Comment, Paula Koval:

    Greetings, Everyone! Thanks for visiting.
On this summer afternoon in the Niagara Region of Ontario, the weather is typical. It's warm, sticky, overcast, with thunderstorms at times. That's business as usual.
Tomorrow is Canada Day, the day in 1867 when the British parliament granted status as a self-governing dominion. The status of dominion was dropped in 1982.

The nation endured external and internal growing pains, some of which continue. The treatment of Indigenous People is not as fair and equitable as it should be. Injuries of First Nations children forcibly removed from their families remain painful today. Treaty violations persist. As I see it, the minister of "Indian Affairs," whoever it may be, has yet to understand how to honor the people and cultures with which the minister needs to work. Effective competition in banking, telecommunications, cable TV, supermarkets, and the petroleum industry does not exist.

    We have some significant problems.
One thing Canada didn't have until recently was a problem with its Neighbor to the South. Canada and the United States enjoy the longest unenforced land border in the world. They are each other's largest trading partners. Their distribution chains are interlinked, and some industries, especially the automotive manufacturing sector, are highly integrated. Everything worked as well as it should have, with occasional disputes over softwood exports from Canada.
Enter Trump 2.0, liar, dummy, but excellent at causing chaos and bullying. That ended the strongest international friendship in the world's history.

You already know the rest of the story. America is in a shitstorm and Trump wants to annex Canada as the 51st state. The occupant of the Offal Office laid tariffs on many Canadian exports because he was pissed off about the balance of trade between the U.S. and Canada. There's nothing wrong with that. America bought more from Canada than Canada bought from America, so this dunce raised tariffs.
    Enough said about this.

Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mark Carney and his cabinet and secretaries of state, all provinces and territories are working together to remove barriers to internal trade. The government has begun implementing plans for a massive program to build thousands of affordable housing units. Mortgage lenders have reconsidered how to help more Canadians become homeowners.
strong nation in the best possible way

All of this is happening ethically and with consideration for First Nations people and their lands. The goal is to build a strong nation in the best possible way.

I think Cindy is correct in her article on Posturing and Playing Cat and Mouse. Prime Minister Carney is learning how to keep Trump at the negotiating table.

The first thing I was taught about negotiation, aside from what it is, was to do my homework before meeting with the other party. Among things to know is how the other party is thinking, what they want, what they might be willing to trade, what will catch their attention, what will antagonize them, how far they traveled to meet with you, and how long they can meet with you. Carney is doing his homework every day.

He's also building trade and defense relations with the EU and other nations. He may cancel as much of Canada's order for F-35 strike fighters from Lockheed Martin, America's prime contractor for the aircraft. Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, and Pratt & Whitney are major subcontractors. A cancellation will have a ripple effect.
The waiver of collecting digital services is a small bargaining chip for the PM to play, but it worked.

    Your comments were spot-on, Cindy.
Thanks again for reading today. I appreciate your visit.
    🍁 🍁 🍁 Happy Canada Day! 🇺🇦 Always Remember! 🇺🇦 🇺🇦
