TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! I pray The Great Spirit be with you 🙏 🌅

Well, here it is, Thursday the 29th of May. "What? The end of May already?" What happened to April? Let alone May! Two months went by, and still no real springtime, just teasers. And here the weather is still stuck back in half past Last November, American Thanksgiving. Cloudy, cold, damp, and soggy, April Fool's Day every day since half past last November. 🌬 💦 "I gots barnacles growing on my toes!" Maybe I'm going to turn into The Mermaid Lady 🧜‍♂️ instead of the Fairy Lady 🧚‍♀️. 😆

That's enough about the weather. Well, this was undoubtedly good news last night:

Federal court strikes down Trump's tariffs on countries around the world

The US Court of International Trade ruled unanimously that the president overstepped his powers in imposing the tariffs on dozens of trading partners, most of which he's since paused.

There is hope; we can only pray that there are more like these three judges who had the backbone and guts to stand up to the town bully, even if it meant the possibility of getting a few lumps, just give 'em back. Three Earth Angels, now let us pray that we have a few of those in the Supreme Court as well. G-d save the CONSTITUTION!

Let US save the Constitution.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

The Constitution

The Constitution of the United States

The United States Constitution, the nation's supreme law, establishes the framework for the federal government and defines its powers and limitations. It also outlines the rights and responsibilities of state governments and the relationship between states and the federal government. In essence, it embodies the principles of separation of powers, federalism, and the process of constitutional amendment.

Most countries, including Canada, have a constitution, a document outlining the fundamental principles of governance, rights, and freedoms. Some countries, like New Zealand, have an unwritten constitution, meaning their governing principles are derived from a combination of statutes, conventions, and court decisions.

Part 2

The Constitution of Canada includes the Constitution Act, 1867, and the Constitution Act, 1982. It is the supreme law of Canada. It reaffirms Canada's dual legal system and also includes Aboriginal rights and treaty rights.

Fascist regimes may or may not have a constitution, but if they do, it's often disregarded or manipulated to serve the dictator's will. While fascist states often appear to operate within a framework of laws, the actual power rests with the dictator, who can circumvent or ignore legal procedures at will.

In other words, the law of the gun. Whoever owns a gun writes their own law. Anyway, that is what The Orange Pus Bag wants. The gun and concentration camps filled with workers who work for slave wages just to buy the vittles at the company store.

IT'S WAKE-UP TIME, DEAR! 😱 😮 😵‍💫

Home sellers now outnumber buyers by largest margin in 12 years, report finds

After years of bidding wars and climbing home prices, the balance of power in the housing market may finally be shifting.

Home sellers now vastly outnumber buyers in the US, according to an analysis released Thursday from real estate company Redfin. The report found that there were nearly 500,000 more home sellers in the market than buyers as of April, the largest gap between the two groups since Redfin began compiling the data in 2013.

The data is an early indication that the US housing market may be experiencing a slowdown — not because home prices nationally are becoming more affordable, but because there are fewer buyers. It’s the latest sign that a long-building affordability crisis, now compounded by trade tensions and recession fears, may be finally catching up with the housing market.

The Vatican has held sacred belongings for a century. Now their Indigenous owners want them back

Inside Vatican City, the home of Pope Leo, lies a vast collection of Indigenous artifacts that some people say shouldn’t be there.

The collection includes thousands dozens of colonial-era objects, including a rare Inuvialuit sealskin kayak from the western Arctic, a pair of embroidered Cree leather gloves, a 200-year-old wampum belt, a baby belt from the Gwich’in people and a beluga tooth necklace.

They are relics of a time of cultural destruction, critics say, taken by the Roman Catholic Church a century ago as trophies of missionaries in far-off lands.

Pope Francis promised to return the artifacts to communities in Canada as part of what he called a “penitential pilgrimage” for abuses against Indigenous people by the Church. But several years on, they remain in the Vatican’s museums and storage vaults.

Indigenous leaders are now urging Pope Leo to finish what Francis started and give the artifacts back.

Ontario NDP, Liberals successfully stall Bill 5 after filibustering until midnight Thursday

Monday is the earliest the committee process can continue, Liberal MPP Ted Hsu says

Bill 5 was successfully stalled in committee after Ontario NDP and Liberal MPPs filibustered from around 4 p.m. on Wednesday until midnight Thursday.

The filibuster has blocked the controversial bill from going into its third and final reading, as the committee process will now continue into next week, Ontario NDP said in a statement on X just after midnight on Thursday.

The MPPs "used every committee tool to delay progress [on] Ford's attempt to rush through this legislation without proper consultation," the statement said.

Bill 5 would create so-called "special economic zones" where the government can exempt companies or projects from complying with provincial laws or regulations. It would also replace the province's endangered species act, replacing it with a new law that critics say waters down protections...

  • The Push to Attract Global Talent Isn’t Going Away

While the government is slowing overall admissions, it is making a stronger push to bring in world-class talent, particularly through programs like the Global Skills Strategy (GSS).
