A BACKUP GOVERNEMENT

A "backup government" refers to mechanisms established to ensure the continuity of government operations in the event of a disaster, crisis, or emergency. There are many levels in a hierarchy, even in a fascist country, the KGB, for example, here they are simply called the spooks by those on the outside, many of whom, even a leader of a country, is not privy to.

In less than five months, this maniac has removed all the tentacles from the American octopus, rendering it useless and vulnerable to outside forces. There has to be a discipline, a stopgap to prevent the further deterioration of a civilized country—someone who knows what they're doing and still has access to the reset button after the insanity pandemic ends. If not, then America is doomed, because of the stupidity of NOT HAVING an invisible government, which I think is essential in protecting the nation and its history. I say, VIVE LA RESISTANCE.

'It haunts me daily:' Freed Israeli hostages fear for those still held captive by Hamas

Gazit, Israel:

Keith Siegel has been free for nearly four months, but he is still pained by vivid images of his 484 days as a Hamas hostage and of those still held in Gaza's tunnels.

"It haunts me daily," Siegel, a dual US-Israeli citizen, told CNN. "Everything that they're experiencing is very difficult for me to think about. I can't get those thoughts out of my mind."

Siegel isn't just talking about the physical and psychological abuse he was subjected to by his captors or the suffocating conditions and malnutrition he faced in tunnels deep underground. He's also terrified that Israel's intensifying bombardment and ground offensive will kill the remaining living hostages – or drive Hamas to execute them.

Washington called itself a sanctuary city. Then Trump came back to town

The sky is still dark and the sidewalks are eerily empty when Soledad heads to work.

The sound of sparrows chirping on a rainy morning is punctuated by the occasional crackle of tires rolling on wet pavement. The city is still waking up. Soledad is, too, walking in the drizzle to a bus stop near her apartment.

In about 30 minutes, she'll punch in and begin her day working as a janitor in a government building where she keeps bathrooms and kitchens clean. A short bus ride from her neighborhood leaves just enough time to grab a quick cup of coffee before her shift begins.

At a downtown DC bakery, the cashier flashes a warm smile when she recognizes Soledad walking in. "¿Como está?" she asks. How are you?

Soledad pauses. So many worries are weighing on her. “Pues, aquí,” Soledad says. Well, I'm here.

Because yes, she is here, in a city where she's lived for more than two decades. But she doesn't know how much longer she will be.

Developers found guilty of defrauding investors out of retirement savings in Barrie, Winnipeg

Defence lawyers previously argued risks were made clear to those involved

Two men have been found guilty of fraud over $5,000 after misleading investors on two never-realized projects in Barrie, Ont., and in Winnipeg.

Justice Daniel Moore delivered his judgment in the judge-alone criminal fraud trial of Jawad Rathore and Vince Petrozza in a Toronto courtroom Wednesday.

"Mr. Rathore and Mr. Petrozza are smart, sophisticated businessmen," Moore said, before telling the two men to stand as he delivered his judgment.
