There seems to be a growing trend that all will be well between our neighbors and us if we let events evolve on their own and do not intervene. Such thinking might work well if we are the sole occupants of islands that are sufficiently far apart. Otherwise, one could not be more wrong adhering to this kind of mindset. Only fairytales have magic solutions.

It is as necessary for us to communicate with one another as it is for us to breathe. We are a social species, and we have an innate need to share our thoughts and feelings. The lack of communications is a sign of an emotional problem on the part of the person who does not share ideas or reactions to external stimuli with others. Such withdrawal will continue to make any true connections with their brothers and sisters in the world impossible.

Consider your situation. Are you staying within your shell or do you venture out to exchange information with your fellows at your job, in your neighborhood, or where you do business? There may not be another tomorrow to make the changes that you need or to change things around you. You can start today with your family, your next door neighbor, or with the person who drives the bus that you ride each day to your job. It can be brief but do your best to be sincere when saying "Good morning" or Nice afternoon" to someone. That is an accepted way to open a dialog.

Do not let the naysayers keep you confined to yourself. They may have no social skills, but that does not mean that you cannot have some.
