Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏
It's a beautiful, sunny, typical early July day, and I baked a cake 🍰, and I'll eat it too. "Sigh!" ♪♫♭ A lovely sandals and sundress day on the flight deck of the Good Ship 🚢 Lollipop! 🍭 👧
If I were to allow my mind to wallow in the state of the world today, it would be in a garbage can. Chaos and confusion all because of one Orange-Pus Bag and his evil dunce brigade. If I allowed myself, I would be on a gloomy and doomy 🌫 💥 ⛈ ⚡️ 🌊 day that I couldn't do anything about. So I have to put on my cartoon time thinking hat and turn on my Looney Tunes hi-fi stereo and let it all hang out, man! Now is the time to pause for prayer and meditation:
Let us pause here for a moment to send prayers and meditate for those in need south of the border. Espacially those that didn't vote for this crap and for those just waking up to the fact that the Kool-Aid was spiked with rattle snake venom.
Let us Pray and Meditate:
God, Great Spirit willing, I intend to continue this prayer meeting, each day I am here to type this prayer notice, until the insanity has ended.

LESLEY University:
The Psychology of Emotional and Cognitive Empathy
The study of empathy is an ongoing area of major interest for psychologists and neuroscientists in many fields, with new research appearing regularly.
Empathy is a broad concept that refers to the cognitive and emotional reactions of an individual to the observed experiences of another. Having empathy increases the likelihood of helping others and showing compassion. "Empathy is a building block of morality—for people to follow the Golden Rule, it helps if they can put themselves in someone else's shoes," according to the Greater Good Science Center, a research institute that studies the psychology, sociology, and neuroscience of well-being. "It is also a key ingredient of successful relationships because it helps us understand the perspectives, needs, and intentions of others."

PSYCHOLOGY OF EMPATHY:
Helping others psychologically and empathically involves understanding and sharing the feelings of another person, and then acting in a way that supports their well-being. It's about recognizing their perspective and emotions, and responding with compassion and helpful actions. This can involve active listening, validating their feelings, and offering support.
Empathy, in psychology, is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. It involves both cognitive and emotional components, allowing individuals to not only understand another person's perspective but also to feel some of their emotions. According to Psychology Today, empathy is essential for forming strong relationships, cultivating social connections, and encouraging prosocial behavior.
My personal experience:
My personal experience is that it feels like the other person is an extension of my feelings. Even in an image on TV or a picture, I feel like what the person feels is a part of me. It is very difficult for me to watch the photos we get on TV of the genocide in Gaza. That certainly would keep me awake nights if I didn't let it go, with a prayer. And I do what I can here to lift the spirits of readers, wherever this network reaches. I'm sure there's even someone in the middle of the Sahara desert with a working cellphone. Or even a thousand leagues under the sea.
Or Elon's Starship on Mars.

BREAKING NEWS:
Russian drones swarm Kyiv from all sides in apparent shift of tactics
Hundreds of Russian drones flying from all directions attacked Kyiv overnight into Thursday in an apparent new Russian tactic, marking a second consecutive night of ferocious attacks on Ukraine.
At least two people were killed, including a 22-year-old police officer who was named by authorities as Maria Dziumaha, and more than a dozen were wounded in the attacks, according to authorities. CNN staff on the ground in Kyiv witnessed massive, fiery explosions that illuminated the night sky. Smoke filled the air, creating a burning smell and obscuring the visibility in the city center.
Russia has been intensifying its aerial attacks against Ukraine in recent weeks, but the assault on Thursday appeared to mark a change in approach from Moscow. Russia launched 400 drones and 18 missiles, including eight ballistic and six cruise missiles, according to a telegram post from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky...

31 workers rescued after partial tunnel collapse in Los Angeles, officials say
Thirty-one people working in a massive underground tunnel in Los Angeles were rescued Wednesday night after a portion of the structure collapsed, officials said.
Those rescued didn’t have any visible injuries, the LAFD said in a statement, shortly after an operation that saw several of those trapped in the industrial tunnel hoisted up to safety by crane. More than 100 Los Angeles Fire Department responders raced to the scene in the city’s Wilmington neighborhood to assist in the operation, including Urban Search and Rescue teams, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said on X.
The collapse occurred approximately five to six miles from the sole entry and exit point of the tunnel and about 400 feet below ground, officials said. The tunnel is part of a municipal wastewater project...

It hasn’t been this hard for Americans to find work since 2021
Layoffs may not be mounting, but it’s getting harder to find a job in a labor market where hiring is “anemic” as tariff-driven economic uncertainty has put a chill on some employers.
New data released Thursday showed that initial claims for unemployment benefits — considered a proxy for layoffs — fell last week. However, the number of recurring claims made by people who already have filed for unemployment rose to their highest level since November 2021. There were an estimated 227,000 first-time applications for unemployment insurance made during the week that ended on July 5. That’s down 5,000 claims from the prior week.
Economists were expecting claims to move higher to 238,000, according to FactSet. The US labor market has cooled significantly during the past year, and the pullback in job growth has largely been attributed to employers reining in hiring rather than conducting mass layoffs...

The US has a plan to breed millions of flies and drop them from planes. Here’s why
Hundreds of millions of flies dropping from planes in the sky might sound like a horrible nightmare, but experts say such a swarm could be the livestock industry’s best defense against a flesh-eating threat poised to invade the southwestern border of the United States.
An outbreak of New World screwworms — the larval form of a type of fly that’s known to nest in the wounds of warm-blooded animals and slowly eat them alive — has been spreading across Central America since early 2023, with infestations recorded in Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and El Salvador. Most Central American countries hadn’t seen an outbreak in 20 years.
_The strategy — essentially fighting flies with flies — slowly degraded the insects’ populations by preventing them from laying more eggs. Now, as the insects continue to spread north officials are hoping the approach could work again_

First Nations call for Ontario minister to resign over clean drinking water bill
Environment Minister previously asked federal government to steer away from legislation
Several dozen First Nations in Ontario called for the resignation of the province's environment minister Wednesday after he asked the federal government to not reintroduce a bill that would enshrine clean drinking water rights in law. Last month, Todd McCarthy and Alberta Environment Minister Rebecca Schulz wrote to federal Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin asking her to move away from legislation that they say would "delay project development and undermine competitiveness."
They singled out Bill C-61, legislation introduced in the last Parliament that sought to ensure First Nations have access to clean drinking water and can protect fresh water sources on their territories...

Trump stopped the global fight against HIV/AIDS in its tracks. Canada can help fix it
'A global problem needs a global solution,' says UNAIDS director
Winnie Byanyima is trying to hold onto hope in the face of what she calls unbelievable cruelty. She is the director of UNAIDS, the United Nations agency that, until recently, was on track to meet its target of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
But now, as President Donald Trump's second administration rapidly and dramatically scales back U.S. foreign aid contributions, UNAIDS is instead predicting in a new report that there will be six million new HIV infections and four million additional deaths within the next four years alone. "It's just so cruel," Byanyima told As It Happens host Nil Kӧksal. "It was not necessary to withdraw funding for life-saving services so suddenly."...

Comment, Paula Koval:
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Everyone! Thank you for visiting.
Cindy opens today's Tree House News discussing empathy. Here is what the world's richest man and former pal of the worst thing to infest the White House thinks about empathy. He said this on Joe Rogan's podcast:
President Trump’s enforcer told Rogan, “The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit.” He went on to say, “There they’re exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.” President Trump’s enforcer told Rogan, “The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit.” He went on to say, “There they’re exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.”
Birds of a feather indeed flock together. Both Musk and Trump would thieve from a blind person. The misery and death they have caused by demolishing the U.S. Agency for International Development will be their legacy. They know only cruelty and greed.
The sudden mass firings of federal government employees without cause was not the only way to reduce the size of the workforce. It was the way to reduce it while inflicting maximum pain, grief, worry, and financial distress. Employees who are laid off can apply for unemployment benefits immediately. Those who are fired must wait for months before they're eligible.
I could be wrong, but karma is visiting Musk. His electric vehicle business is down significantly because of his actions while putting on a show for Trump. Musk donated $280,000,000 to Trump’s 2024 election campaign. He bought the presidency for Trump, so he thought having carte blanche to destroy the federal government and America's middle class was a lifetime position.
He became the most reviled man to many, and his car business tanked. So he attacked Trump.
Musk got the same deal all of Trump's pals got: thrown under a loaded cement truck.
Musk's social platform, X, is a losing venture. After two years of trying to keep it alive and make it grow, the CEO, Linda Yaccarino, resigned. Her peers in the advertising business warned her to refuse Musk's offer to head X.
SpaceX is going nowhere, literally. The last test of Musk's Starship was a massive explosion.
I am an empathic person. I'm not a fool for every sob story, but I will do good for whomever I can whenever I can. I don't hate anyone, not even Elon Musk, but, if I saw him on the street selling pencils from an old soup can, I would knock that can from his hand and watch the pencils fly.
And now a word to Canada: Give your head a shake!
DeleteWhat kind of nation 🤔 has political leaders pressing its federal parliament not to approve a bill that makes safe drinking water human right everywhere in Canada?
Maybe we need to consider a few things.
There are some First Nations villages that have water that is unsafe to drink. They have lived with a Boil Water Advisory for over 25 years.
The federal government by Liberal and Conservative parties promised to build a water treatment system to eliminate the need to boil water over 20 years ago.
The politicians urging the federal government to let the bill quietly die are not members of any First Nation or Indigenous Band.
This treatment of Indigenous people is racist, wrong, and cannot go on any longer. Either we are building Canada or we are Trumpland north. It's our choice.
Thank you for reading.
