NEWS AGGREGATOR & COMMENTS

Great Spirit bless 🙏

I did have an introduction here when I started, but it's gone now. First, I lost part of my discussion for the day. I get that corrected, only to find out my daily introduction was missing as well. Goodness, too much rewriting, it can get very confusing. Trying to patch things up again eats up a lot of time, not to mention it's all very frustrating.

I'm the type that, unless it goes out dressed perfectly, I will not send it out on stage wearing any oversized catwampus, wrinkled, old red polka-dot too-too, disheveled hair, and a puffin on a joint. I was still a bit under the weather with the stomach problems this morning, but the ominous storm cloud on the horizon seems to have cleared, revealing a clearer sky. Speaking of the sky, it is getting brighter out there 👩 Still a little too cool for my liking, though, sweater weather todayay.

Well, boys and girls, that brings us to the discussion of the day.

BREAKING! Pope Leo XIV Speech:

I wish to raise my voice on behalf of the forgotten. They are young people whose dreams are being buried beneath the rubble of hatred.

Pope Leo XIV, My breakdown:

I wish to raise my voice on behalf of the forgotten,

the invisible, the ones the media only covers a small fraction of the casualties counted. the invisible, the civilians, who, by all appearances, the authorities don't think their lives are worth much of anything except as an enslaved people.

They are young people whose dreams are being buried beneath the rubble of hatred.

It doesn't matter if it was a theocratic regime or not, at least there was some conformity to their lives; now what does anyone have, rubble? That will create more hate and animosity, not less. Then why conflict? Then they are just goading the other party into a conflict, like it were just a mere game of checkers or Parcheesi, "Hey Bobbie, Louigi is playing pocket pool again!"

Let us not allow strategy to blind us to the human reality. Every life lost is a defeat for all humanity. There is no victory worth the sacrifice of innocence.

A life lost is a defeat for all humanity.

It sets us back on the evolutionary scale every time we stumble, and it's happened time and time again throughout the history of the species known as Homo sapiens of the Alpha Quadrent, third rock from the star Sole.

Question: Psychopaths who think their god and get sexually aroused over catastrophes

🔹AI Overview

Individuals who exhibit traits of psychopathy along with a belief that they are "G-d" and experience sexual arousal from catastrophes generally fit the profile of a malignant narcissistic psychopath or someone with severe sexual sadism combined with psychopathic, antisocial tendencies. Such individuals possess a "god complex," characterized by inflated feelings of power and superiority, and use destruction to satisfy needs for control and thrill-seeking

Demand destruction: How the Iran war could rattle or break the US economy

DEMAND DESTRUCTION \dɪˈmænd dɪˈstrʌkʃən\ n : The process by which persistent high prices or limited supply cause a permanent or sustained decline in the willingness or ability to purchase a good or service. At its linguistic core, the two-word phrase “demand destruction” feels severe, harsh, maybe even violent.

In practice, that’s not far off: It means that the magnitude of a price shock can be so large, so persistent and so painful that spending behaviors shift – sometimes to the point where they permanently alter the course, the structure and the stability of a sector or an entire economy.

Earlier this month, the International Energy Agency warned that in the wake of the “most severe oil supply shock in history … demand destruction will spread as scarcity and higher prices persist.”

In the US, this “destruction” has already started to unfold. Fast-rising gas prices have quickly eaten away Americans’ hard-earned pay and tax refunds – landing the heaviest blows on those who can least absorb them. Inflation has jolted higher, wage growth sharply slowed and consumer sentiment slumped, a potential harbinger of further fallout to come.

American consumers have remained resilient thus far. But economists warn that the longer the Iran war keeps the critical Strait of Hormuz blocked to oil tankers and cargo ships, the greater the danger of drastically worse outcomes...

  • A chain reaction of destruction:
  • RSM laid out the potential chain reaction:

• First, oil prices:

• Second, confidence sinks:

• Then, big purchases freeze:

• Next, businesses feel the squeeze:

• Then, the Federal Reserve gets involved:

• Finally, if high prices persistent, permanent behavior changes occur:

• On top of all of this, other commodities could see compounding supply problems:

  • The paths forward:

John Roberts’ effort to gut the Voting Rights Act is complete

The Supreme Court’s decision Wednesday rolling back protections for Black and Latino voters marks another dramatic turn in the long-fought effort by conservative justices to reverse measures vital to overcoming America’s legacy of race discrimination.

The decision also marks a defining moment for the court under Chief Justice John Roberts, who declared soon after joining the bench in 2005, “the way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”

Three years ago, the justices by the same 6-3 vote as Wednesday ended racial affirmative action in higher education admissions. The newest decision, which follows a series of rulings led by Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito restricting the reach of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, will reverberate deeper.

Taken as a whole, the pattern would mean fewer chances for minority voters to elect candidates of their choosing. That, in turn, would mean fewer opportunities for the voice of Blacks, Latinos, Native Americans and other minorities in government...

Maine Gov. Janet Mills drops Senate bid, upending critical race for Democrats

The move leaves Graham Platner the presumptive Democratic nominee to face incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins in a pivotal campaign for Democrats as they hope to retake the Senate.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills is ending her U.S. Senate campaign after struggling to contend against a progressive-backed competitor in a campaign critical for national Democrats’ hopes of retaking the chamber in this fall’s midterms.

Democrats are determined to try to oust GOP incumbent Sen. Susan Collins this year after failing to defeat the moderate during her five terms in Washington. The 78-year-old Mills was seen by some as the Democratic Party’s best chance of defeating Collins, given her past electoral performance in New England.

That picture was drastically complicated, however, by the campaign of Democrat Graham Platner, an initially unknown candidate whose progressive and plainspoken approach made him a national name, even as controversial actions and comments from his past threatened to hurt his general election viability. Despite Mills’ more traditional background, Platner had become the favorite ahead of the state’s June primary.

“While I have the drive and passion, commitment and experience, and above all else — the fight — to continue on, I very simply do not have the one thing that political campaigns unfortunately require today: the financial resources,” Mills said in a statement Thursday morning posted to social media. “That is why today I have made the incredibly difficult decision to suspend my campaign for the United States Senate.” ...

Oil prices hit new wartime high before easing, as few signs of breaking stalemate with Iran

Prices briefly rose about $126 US, the highest since March 2022

The price of Brent crude oil briefly surged past $126 US a barrel overnight — the highest since March 2022 — before coming back down, as stalled U.S.-Iran talks raised doubts over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a permanent end to the Mideast war.

Brent crude to be delivered in June then slid to about $114 US per barrel. Before the war began in late February, Brent crude was trading around $70 US per barrel.

At the same time, the price of gasoline is continuing to tick higher. In Canada, the average price for a litre of gas was $1.814 on Thursday morning according to GasBuddy — up 2.9 cents compared to yesterday, and up 46.4 cents compared to a year prior. Prices were highest in B.C., averaging just over $2 a litre...

Will the visit by King Charles help mend fences between the U.K. and the U.S.?

As the royal trip winds down, questions loom about how it will impact tense Anglo-American relations

There were wide smiles and hearty handshakes, warm welcomes and much talk of all the strengths that lie in a shared past. And the two highly anticipated speeches King Charles made during his state visit to the U.S. were warmly received by their audiences in Washington as he settled into a trip that was haunted by the question of what it could do to mend the fraught relations between the United States and the United Kingdom.

As the four-day visit winds down Thursday, new questions loom: What did the visit accomplish — and what is the ultimate litmus test of the impact it will have? "The question is how long does the good feeling last?" Garret Martin, a professor at American University's school of international service in Washington, D.C., said in an interview...
