Great Spirit bless π
Morning, folksπ The sun is finally coming out, but it's jacket time out in my green space. It was still nice to sit out there with my coffee ☕️ in the early-morning stillness and silence at the Tree House π‘π
Yes, for those who didn't know, here is an update: that constructionππ·π§π₯π️ ΛΛ˗ π΅πΆ noise has finally left the neighborhood, and now it's back to the silence of the parkland that is all around this apartment building. From the fifth floor, the view overlooking the treetops feels like a treehouse from the balcony
π³π²ππ±πΏ πππ²π³ That's all from the Tree House Newsroom for today; now it's time for the discussion of the day.
I started today's news blog late, at 10:00 a.m., so it will be shorter than usual because I had to do a little housework on another file before starting here, and thank you for visiting and reading the Tree House News π‘

BREAKING NEWS RECAP:
Trump waives Russia-related sanctions before they even kick in as Ukraine ties worsen
US President Donald Trump has waived a further slate of sanctions related to Russian fossil fuel sales, days before they were to take effect under a bill he signed into law last month. The waiver announced in an executive order Friday comes as Trump increasingly feuds with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and cracks appear in Washington’s support for Kyiv in its four-year-old war against its invading neighbor, deepening alarm among European allies.
The White House has heaped pressure on Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian oil facilities, as it seeks to ease oil prices ahead of midterm elections at home. Ukraine briefly acceded to the request, but has since resumed attacks – and Russia has continued to pound Ukraine’s energy infrastructure throughout the week.
Zelensky condemned the move, which came as Russia carried out what he said was one of their biggest attacks on Ukrainian energy...

‘Vote early’: No Kings rallies focus on voter turnout in midterm elections
“Voting early means your voice is locked in and safe, days before anyone else can decide what happens next,” the movement advises.
What To Know:
The No Kings coalition that has driven millions of people to the streets across the country during President Donald Trump’s second term is back in action today with a unique focus: getting Americans to vote. The collective event, involving rallies in towns and cities across the United States, is titled “No Kings: Vote Early,” and is “about protecting our elections and putting power back in the hands of the people,” according to organizers.
The grassroots group anticipates about 3,000 different demonstrations and events across all 50 states, with early voting in the high-stakes 2026 midterms underway. Protestors are turning out in Trump’s backyards — in the nation’s capital and surrounding suburbs, and in Palm Beach, Florida, where the president spent last night at Mar-a-Lago before heading to Kentucky today. The Blue Grass State is one of many areas where Republicans find themselves playing defense in a volatile midterm election landscape...

Henry Ford widely credited, but labour movement fought for it in Canada and U.S.
As the two-day weekend turns 100 years old, some say it's high time for a calendar shakeup. "Almost nobody alive remembers the time before we had a five-day week and a two-day weekend," said Grace Tallon, co-founder of Work Time Revolution, a Toronto-based consultancy group that helps employers adopt shorter work hours.
Labour historians and advocates for workweek reform point out that much has changed since the two-day weekend became standard about a century ago, depending on where you are in the world. Tallon notes that only 20 per cent of women were in the workforce at that time...
