TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

Well, it is another beautiful, bright, sunny morning, silent and peaceful outside in my green space; a little cool but a pleasant, fresh coolness, no smoke, although there are still fires in the northwest of Ontario.

Now, there is a good amount of oxygen being eaten up from the atmosphere, and it is being replaced two-fold by carbon and methane gases. Mankind is just too greedy and blinded by its greed to see the stone wall they are careening towards at 150 mph. The hell with stopping the vehicle from colliding into the stone wall, saving the money comes first! Like if a man, or woman, falls overboard with a briefcase full of money, everyone jumps in to save the briefcase.

This world is GETTING SO SICK AND BORING WITH ALL THIS GREED. Praise Allah, G-d, Buddha, Rah, Great Spirit, Quanta, etc, not the GOLDEN CALF CRAP AGAIN? As if the one who thought all this would approve of such darkness to continue repeating itself like a broken record player, the needle on that record will eventually skip. It won't last for long, especially in terms of ∞... The question is, do we want to continue living this silly Groundhog Day game?

ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING, "FROM THE ❤️!"

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

Atmosphere and Climate Change

For how long before our entire planet's atmosphere is saturated with CO2/carbon, and CH₄,/Methane, and if the 02/oxygen gases get all eaten up from too much consumption by combustion?

A question I have often asked myself through the years, as I watched more trees being chopped down and replaced with parking lots, larger and wider highways, instead of stacking them in layers, shopping malls, and the cities and their suburbs spreading like a cancer across the land, is, what toll is this extracting from our environment and ecosystems?

Greater strain and damage are inflicted upon our shared sources of clean, safe air to breathe and the aquifers that hold our drinking water. When we add tourism, lodging for tourists, and second homes we call cottages. Hell's bells, cottages? Today, they are more like mansions, destroying the natural landscape.

Additionally, while more industries might be beneficial to the economy, they do not bode well for nature. Pollute the air and water and remove the oxygen, what's left to breathe?. This is why it is so crucial to work harder and with greater urgency to develop ALTERNATE FUELS AND CLEAN ENERGY SOURCES. If you don't get that you're a moron and I'm wasting my time. Go read a comic book. Or join The Orange Pus Bag's Dunce Cadets. Don't worry, he'll toss out tin umbrellas for everyone once the fireballs begin to fall.

BREAKING NEWS:

Congress returns to a messy fall with Democrats ready to fight

Congress is bracing for a politically bruising fall as lawmakers return to Washington on Tuesday, with massive fights upcoming on government funding, the Jeffrey Epstein files and President Donald Trump’s policing push.

After a summer of simmering tensions on Trump’s nationwide deportations, National Guard deployment in Washington, DC, and a string of high-profile firings, Democrats are ready to fight back.

And the minority party won’t have to wait long for its opportunity to spar with Trump. Republicans and Democrats are already entering a high-stakes funding standoff ahead of a September 30 funding deadline, which marks Congress’ first bout of bipartisan dealmaking in months. Already, Democrats are signaling they want new checks on Trump’s power and a rollback of the president’s signature domestic policy law, but White House officials say they’re in no mood to yield to those demands and expect Democrats to help keep the government open...

These Chicago residents welcome extra help fighting crime but don’t want Trump to send the National Guard

Cedric Hawkins doesn’t take his age lightly. At 44, he’s had nine relatives killed by gun violence.

“Only one of my family members made it to be in his 40s,” Hawkins said. After growing up around gangs in Chicago and having served time in prison, Hawkins now works with the anti-gun violence group Chicago CRED in part as a violence mediator, trying to stop gun violence before it has the chance to start.

The longtime southside Chicago resident has personally seen a decrease in murders in his Pullman neighborhood this year and like other residents, he worries a National Guard deployment to his city could throw off a playbook that, at least for now, seems like it’s working, he said...

Leaders of China, Russia, North Korea and Iran gather in Beijing for huge military parade in challenge to the West

Beijing

For the last three days, Xi Jinping has played host in one of China’s busiest port cities, welcoming leaders from across Asia and the Middle East for a carefully choreographed summit designed to showcase his vision of a new world order. Now, the Chinese leader is set to exhibit a very different image with an ostentatious show of military might.

On Wednesday he will commandeer Beijing’s main artery – the Avenue of Eternal Peace – for a major military parade showing off the country’s cutting-edge hypersonic weapons, nuclear-capable missiles, and undersea drones, alongside thousands of goose-stepping soldiers.

Xi’s message with his multi-day exercise of soft and hard power, is clear: China is a force that wants to reset global rules – and it’s not afraid to challenge those of the West. Hitting that message home is Xi’s guest list for the gathering, a cohort of more than two dozen China-friendly world leaders topped by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which also includes Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian...

Can a non-corporate grocery chain work across Canada?

Building nationwide chain of non-corporate grocers would be 'difficult and painful process'

As food prices continue to rise and Canadians raise concerns about practices at large retailers, some shoppers may be wondering if there's an alternative to Big Grocery. The cost of food has skyrocketed in the last few years, with Statistics Canada reporting that as of July 2025, Canadians were paying 27.1 per cent more than they were in July 2020.

Meanwhile, Canada's top three grocers continue to make profits — $3.6 billion in 2022 on more than $100 billion in sales. In many parts of the country, alternatives are scarce, and the big players dominate the market. Just five companies control 76 per cent of the Canadian grocery market share: Loblaw, Sobeys, Metro, Costco and Walmart...

  • Breaking into sector an uphill battle:

Neighbourly... entrepreneurial... whiners?! — Albertans weigh in on being Albertan

Pollsters find this province has a strong sense of self. We set out to understand what that means

We set out to ask what it means to be Albertan — setting up first on a street corner in downtown Calgary. The answers came fast.

"Pioneering."

"Entrepreneurial."

"You look after your neighbours."

After just a couple of hours, the simple version of what it means to be Albertan was pretty clear. It's a story about a people who value freedom and take pride in what they've built here. People who are more likely to get 'er done than wait for government to do it.

And here's what's interesting. This is all set against the backdrop of separatism — a debate raging with powerful emotions on both sides. One side sees themselves as more Canadian, the other side as more Albertan.

"Whiners."

Ontario to break interprovincial barriers for regulated professions

*Agreement will allow 50 ‘in-demand’ professions to find work across the country more quickly

Ontario's provincial government says it will remove interprovincial barriers for workers in regulated professions, allowing them greater mobility when searching for work across the country.

The Labour Day announcement says the province has signed 10 agreements with provinces and territories to remove barriers to let workers come to Ontario to find work in over 50 "in-demand" professions, including engineers, architects and electricians. The province says under these agreements, Ontarians in these fields will also be able to find work in other provinces.

As of Jan. 1, 2026, people working in regulated professions will be able to start working within 10 days of having their credentials confirmed by their regulator. Under the current process, the province says certified workers can wait for several months to become registered to begin a job.

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

What a great morning - quiet and peaceful, the dazzling sun rising over the trees, still a verdant green. The next three days will be more typical of a summer day, then it will fall to the low 70s and high 60s after that. There are many sunny days interspersed with rainy days in the forecast; this is typical for the temperature cycle in September so far.

As I sit here next to the sliding glass doors overlooking my green space, I think about the winter ahead and wonder how nice it will be to look out at my green space, still green during the winter. Artificial plants, palms, and a coconut tree. At least it makes me feel warmer inside on a sunny winter day. If we get a typical February, which is usually dry and cold, the brilliant sun can make it feel warm enough to sit in my green space with my coffee, just wearing a light jacket. Xi and Putin stand shoulder to shoulder as China casts itself an alternative global leader

Tianjin, China

Chinese leader Xi Jinping made a veiled swipe at the United States on Monday as he criticized “bullying practices” and cast his country as a new leader of world governance, at a time when President Donald Trump’s America First foreign policy is upending the globe.

“The house rules of a few countries should not be imposed on others,” Xi told more than 20 world leaders gathering at a two-day summit orchestrated to play-up China’s global leadership and its close and enduring partnership with Russia, as the two neighbors seek to rebalance global power in their favor at the expense of the US and its allies...

  • Ukraine war looms over summit:

“India and Russia have always stood shoulder to shoulder even in the most difficult times,” Modi said at the start of the meeting. “We have been in constant dialogue on the situation in Ukraine. We welcome all the recent efforts for peace.”

A readout from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said the two leaders discussed the latest developments concerning Ukraine. “(Modi) reiterated his support for the recent initiatives that have been taken to address the conflict in Ukraine, and emphasized the need to expedite a cessation of the conflict, and find a durable peace settlement,” the ministry said. ...

Chicago braces for federal immigration enforcement operation while Trump criticizes local officials

Officials in Chicago are bracing for a major federal immigration enforcement operation that could begin as soon as this week, with the city’s mayor signing an order over the weekend aimed at resisting the Trump administration’s planned crackdown.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said Sunday such a move would be an “invasion” and that he has had no communication with the Trump administration about reported plans to send National Guard troops to Chicago.

“No one in the administration – the president or anybody under him – has called anyone in my administration, or me. So, it’s clear that in secret they’re planning this – well, it’s an invasion with US troops, if they in fact do that,” Pritzker said Sunday.

The operation is expected to kick off in Chicago by this Friday and could involve agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, and potentially be backed by guard forces in a peacekeeping role, according to multiple sources familiar with the planning...

Plane carrying EU’s top leader targeted by alleged Russian GPS jamming

A plane carrying the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was targeted by GPS navigation jamming while trying to land in Bulgaria on Sunday, a spokesperson for the commission told CNN.

The commission received “information from Bulgarian authorities that they suspect this blatant interference was carried out by Russia,” said European Commission Deputy Chief Spokesperson Arianna Podestà.

The plane landed safely, the spokesperson said. A source familiar with the situation told CNN the pilots landed the plane using paper maps. Von der Leyen and the commission have been staunch supporters of Ukraine as Kyiv tries to defend itself against Russia’s unprovoked aggression. She was one of the European leaders who attended US President Donald Trump’s summit on Ukraine last week and has consistently urged EU member states to allocate more resources to helping Ukraine...

No fines for big grocers that promoted imported food as Canadian

Some shoppers say it’s time to start doling out fines to send a message

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has identified 12 cases where grocers engaged in "maple washing," a practice where companies use Canadian branding, like the maple leaf, to promote imported food products.

The violations stemmed from complaints filed with the CFIA between February and May, and all but one involved national grocery chains, the agency told CBC News in an email. The CFIA can impose fines of up to $15,000 per offence. No fines or other penalties were issued in the cases, including one that took four months to fully resolve.

TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

To start the morning, before the grey clouds, white noise, and clamor of the outside world begin to overwhelm the silence and peace, "I FEEL!" the pleas of the desperate and oppressed people everywhere, their cries for freedom grow louder as each day progresses.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY:

I solemnly pray that every day will be a day to sing, dance, and rejoice in the sunshine. EVERY DAY!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w9gb9ZEvMs

Well, so far, it is a picture-perfect late August morning. Hummingbirds are still coming to my feeder in my green space, and it is so silent out there - a peaceful silence. As I sit here and sip my coffee, looking out at the trees across the laneway, they are still a healthy green, bathed in the bright sunlight of that "pearly blue" sky. I remarked to myself, "It's the cleanest air I have seen all summer." Earlier in the summer, as the temperature rose, the smoke became thicker.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

"DISASTERS"

There doesn't seem to be as much of a problem with fires and smoke in the lower half of Ontario. We have experienced occasional heavy summer rain and nighttime thunderstorms here in the Niagara Region. I'm not sure what's happening up north, given that the jet stream over Ontario is currently so far north. It should have similar weather patterns to those we have down here, as well as cooler temperatures, even frost and snow in some areas. Late August, September, and then October marked the beginning of winter in the Cochrane, Kapuskasing, Hurst, and Moosenne areas, which lasted until sometime in April. The leaves didn't come on the trees till mid to late June.

The hot, dry summers were always a good tinder for forest fires, but nothing like what we get today, all across the country from the East Coast to the West Coast! "Eh!" Today, we live in the early days of an apocalyptic environment, one that is often depicted in science fiction novels, disaster movies, or comic books. I enjoy chair-edge disaster films, especially if they have a good ending, but that should be for entertainment, and productive when they have a lesson attached to it. It should NOT BE TESTED IN REAL LIFE! The key words here should be LEARN FROM OUR ERRORS AND ADJUST.

As a survivalist, I have learned many pointers from reading and watching films and documentaries about natural and human-caused disasters. At one time, when I owned property, I could have survived a couple of years without outside help. Now, since we live in an apartment, I can only prepare by stocking sufficient food and supplies so that we can live off the grid for a good part of the winter if we experience either a power blackout, or are snowed in, or both.

I can only pray that any disaster that may befall us is only temporary and that it does not require significant adjustments or shifts to our system of rights and freedom in our sovereign government of Canada, which, if allowed to fall, would have a catastrophic effect on our daily lives. Think about it - THIS IS THE MORE REASON TO BUY CANADIAN.

China’s Xi rolls out the red carpet for Putin and Modi as Trump upends global relations

Tianjin, China

Autocrats, populists, friends and foes, a strongman waging a war in Europe and the leader of the world’s biggest democracy will all be hosted by Chinese leader Xi Jinping this weekend at a summit designed to showcase Beijing as a global leader capable of providing a counterweight to Western institutions. Heads of state and delegations from across Asia and the Middle East will meet from Sunday in the Chinese port city of Tianjin for the two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a regional security grouping that has emerged as a cornerstone of Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s drive to rebalance global power in their favor.

Chinese officials have billed the summit as the SCO’s largest yet, with the diplomacy and pageantry setting the stage for Xi to tout his country as a stable and powerful alternative leader at a time when the world’s leading superpower the United States under President Donald Trump is shaking up its alliances and waging a global trade war...

Removal of Guatemalan children in US custody expected to begin Sunday

The repatriation of Guatemalan children in US government custody is expected to begin Sunday, according to a notice sent to attorneys, prompting a scramble among lawyers who say kids were woken up in the middle of the night and are at risk if returned to their home country.

A federal judge temporarily blocked the removals of unaccompanied Guatemalan minors in US custody early Sunday, though plans appeared to still be underway, according to an immigration attorney representing Guatemalan children who were transported out of their shelter after the judge’s ruling...

Welcome to the new USSR of America

This one word captures the most important division among Democrats

As President Donald Trump openly contemplates sending military forces into more American cities, the leading congressional Democrats almost invariably describe his actions as an attempt to create a “distraction” from something else — whether that’s the cost of living, the massive Medicaid cuts he signed into law, or the controversy around the Jeffrey Epstein files.

That reflex captures the overwhelming preference of top DC Democrats to frame the 2026 election on familiar partisan grounds, particularly the charge that Trump has failed in his core 2024 promise to bring down the cost of living for average families. It also reflects their hesitation about contesting Trump’s actions relating to immigration and crime. But the tendency of Democratic congressional leaders like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries to dismiss Trump’s moves threatening democracy as a “distraction” from other issues has created the most significant fissure between the party’s grassroots and its Washington leadership...

TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

I would like to begin the morning by sharing a spiritual experience that occurred as I sat here, taking a sip of my coffee. I had just closed the subject on a Google Search about Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS. Then, like most mornings, before all the white noise of the day begins, it is customary for me to do a little meditation.

In my state of meditation, I feel a deep and longing affection for that place of peace and harmony, with its golden sunlight, lush, vibrant green plants, and stark blue skies, and there is life everywhere. It's a moment of happiness; a smile traces my lips, an innocent happiness, and inwardly I laugh with glee!

Deep down in my heart, I am thinking. The more the hatred grows out there, the greater that feeling within me grows; tears begin to stream down my cheeks as I awaken from my meditational state.

Scientific:

A scientific interpretation of *"oneness"* involves a psychological belief in the interconnectedness and interdependence of all things, which is associated with positive psychological outcomes like greater life satisfaction and empathy. Appeals court strikes down many Trump tariffs, saying he overstepped his authority

A federal appeals court Friday struck down many of President Donald Trump’s historic tariffs, saying he unlawfully leaned on emergency powers to impose the import taxes.

The International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not authorize tariffs like the ones Trump used the law for earlier this year, the Federal Circuit said in an unsigned opinion upholding a lower-court ruling against Trump’s tariffs.

The judges noted that Trump’s unprecedented tariffs are an overstep of his power because the ability to impose taxes, including tariffs, is “a core Congressional power” that the Constitution grants to the legislative branch. The tariffs remain in place for now, after the court delayed implementation of its order until October. That gives the Trump administration time to file an appeal with the Supreme Court...

Although federal officials have emphasized that people who want a Covid-19 vaccine can get one after consulting with a doctor, the narrower approval may limit access to shots for some people who were routinely able to get them in the past. Canada is strengthening defence ties with Finland and Sweden. What can they teach us?

NATO's newest members have advice for preparing citizens in a destabilized world

And in late May, as young conscripts complete their final weeks of training on firing artillery cannons, it's cold enough for the soldiers to bundle up in thick gloves and neck warmers.

Finnish conscript Iivari Luukari has been training for months on these howitzers, which are identical to those currently used in Europe's bloodiest conflict since the Second World War...

Company behind Jack Daniel's says Canadian boycott is 'significant' as sales drop 62%

Parent company officials say trade dispute is causing 'significant headwinds' and 'significant impact'

The parent company of American alcohol producers such as Jack Daniel's whisky and Woodford Reserve bourbon says sales to Canada dropped 62 per cent during the latest fiscal quarter compared to a year ago, as American alcohol remains off the shelves in many provinces.

After U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canadian goods in early March, a number of provinces retaliated, pulling American alcohol from store shelves. Alberta and Saskatchewan have since lifted the ban. During a conference call with investors Thursday, officials with Brown-Forman — the parent company of brands such as Jack Daniel's and Woodford Reserve — noted other pressures, but said the boycott is causing a "significant impact."...

Last week, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada was removing retaliatory tariffs on CUSMA-compliant U.S. goods, which included 25 per cent on American spirits.
