TREEHOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

The system was acting like a bug stuck in molasses in January, or a snail with bursitis. So, I sent my system to the Bug Cleaners; I hope it pressed the bugs out and it comes back wrinkleless. 🤔 If not it may have to go see the Laptop Doctor.

Well, outside of the laptop farts, I am doing fine. The sun is shining, it's a little humid, but we have a portable air conditioner that seems to do quite well at keeping the temperature at least comfortable. Who needs air conditioners to the point where you have an icicle hanging on the end of your nose, turning blue, wrapped in a blanket? Me, Wrapaho, 🗞 Publisher of Tree House News, and meet my partner, Chief Bent Feather 🪶 🤣, who is also my Editor-in-Chief.

Now, let us take a moment to meditate and pray for our brothers and sisters south of the border.🙏

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

Defenition of Lunicy

- Google Search -

"Lunacy" is an outdated term for a form of insanity, particularly one believed to be influenced by the phases of the moon. It can also refer to any form of insanity or the legal definition of psychosis. More generally, it can describe acting in a silly or stupid manner.

- Google Search -

Lunatic:

An Insane Person

noun. (no longer in technical use; now considered offensive) An insane person. A person whose actions and manner are marked by extreme eccentricity or recklessness.

How does a lunatic behave?:

If you describe someone as a lunatic, you think they behave in a dangerous, stupid, or annoying way. Her son thinks she's an absolute raving lunatic. If you describe someone's behaviour or ideas as lunatic, you think they are very foolish and possibly dangerous.

In my opinion: here is a good example of an addled mind.

You know, for the love of heaven, I can't understand why Trumpet thinks that tariffs are such a good tool to use to bargain with other nations. It is so ridiculous, it's like he's on the stage in his underwear, spotlight beaming down on him while he whips himself with his own whip! Looney son of a twitch. I do not care to think of seeing the landscape under that suit and red tie. Enough said about that goofball.

The fat, orange Whack-a-Mole loony bin bat in the belfry that uses baby feces for makeup. Taco Kink of Bizzaromarica. Someday, I will come up with the perfect adjective for that pile of 💩 Now, let us move on to the News.

BREAKING NEWS:

US inflation rebounded in June to highest level in four months

US inflation heated back up in June, rising to its highest level in four months, as price increases — including those from tariffs — packed a bigger punch.

Consumer prices rose 0.3% last month, pushing the annual inflation rate higher to 2.7%, the highest since February, according to the latest Consumer Price Index data released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Tuesday’s data came right in line with what economists were expecting, as gas prices rose for the first time in five months and other prices increased in key services and goods categories.

The Consumer Price Index increased slightly to 2.7% for the last 12 months ending in June.

Trump flails as Epstein storm rages around his government

Donald Trump very rarely loses control of his own story. But the Jeffrey Epstein saga is beyond his powers to quell.

It’s a new twist for the president, being at odds with the loudest and most conspiratorial faction of his MAGA movement. For once, he’s becoming the victim of an out-of-control conspiracy, not the initiator of one. He looks like the insider covering up, not the ultimate outsider and deep-state destroyer.

Some of MAGA’s most visible personalities are speaking up. Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene warned Monday of “significant” reverberations in the movement over what some Trump supporters see as a cover-up. “It’s just a red line that it crosses for many people,” she told CNN’s Manu Raju...

Trump’s new stance toward Russia changes the calculus in Ukraine. Why now?

To appreciate the dramatic shift in President Donald Trump’s policy towards Ukraine, consider two scenes in the Oval Office, months apart:

On February 28, Trump berated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in front of the global news media, declaring that he has “no cards” and effectively no choice but to sue for peace with Russia and largely on Russia’s terms. Shortly after that meeting, the United States announced a temporary pause on all military and intelligence support for Ukraine.

On July 14, Trump met with the secretary general of NATO, Mark Rutte, and announced significant new cards for Zelensky, in the form of billions of dollars in military equipment, including advanced anti-air systems, and new sanctions on Russia to go into effect 50 days from now if Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to prosecute the war...

Flash flooding swamps Northeast metro areas as extreme rain threatens millions

Water gushes near a ticket turnstile at the 28th Street station in New York City Monday.

Millions across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic remain under flash flood watches early Tuesday as slow-moving summer storms brought heavy showers to the East Coast, impacting transportation and leaving people stranded in vehicles on waterlogged roads. Flooding was reported near Newark, New Jersey, New York City, northern Virginia and southern Maryland, according to the National Weather Service, with more rain to come Tuesday.

A state of emergency was declared in New Jersey due to ongoing flooding, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday night, warning residents to “remain off the roads unless absolutely necessary.” The weather service has warned that more rain is expected Tuesday after heavy showers swept east, including across New York City, which experienced its second wettest hour on record Monday night after a little over 2 inches fell between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time...

CANADIAN NEWS:

Inflation rate rose slightly to 1.9% in June as vehicle and clothing prices climb

Pace of inflation increased after holding steady at 1.7% in May

The pace of inflation sped up to 1.9 per cent in the month of June as costs for cars and clothes increased, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.

Passenger vehicles prices rose significantly in June — rising 4.1 per cent year over year, compared to a 3.2 per cent increase in May. Used passenger vehicles had their first year-over-year increase in 18 months, according to Statistics Canada. New cars also increased in price, with the inflation rate climbing to 5.2 per cent in May. Costs for clothing and footwear accelerated last month, rising two per cent year over year in June. Statistics Canada says that came as a result of tariff uncertainty hitting the clothing industry in particular.

And in the grocery aisle, prices rose 2.8 per cent, after rising 3.3 per cent the month prior. Price growth in that category slowed in large part due to price decreases for fresh fruits and vegetables — the first decline in that category since October 2021, says the data agency.

Statistics Canada said gasoline prices were nearly unchanged in June as higher crude oil prices and geopolitical conflicts ratcheted up pressure at the pumps.

The new numbers come after the agency said the pace of inflation held steady in May at 1.7 per cent...

After major issues with tenants, these Ontario landlords blame their real estate agents

Some Ontario landlords are calling for change, saying contracts don't match agents' verbal promises

Sanaulhaq Zarawar has a tenant who won't pay rent and won't move out. It's the kind of stressful situation he says he wanted to avoid when he hired a real estate agent to find him a "good" tenant for his only rental property, a four-bedroom house in Whitby, Ont., shared with multiple family members as an investment.

"Why else would I have paid a Realtor than to make sure I have a good tenant and to do the vetting and background checks?" he said. The tenant moved into the home in 2023. Several months in, Zarawar says, he stopped paying. Panicked, Zarawar took a closer look at the application and began calling the references himself.

That's when he says he realized he may be dealing with a fraudulent tenant...
