There is not much to report from the Tree House today, outside that it rained, and it feels cooler out. It was nice to sit outside with my sis to have our cereal and coffee and just enjoy a little of nature. I am not certain if we will be going out anywhere today, as the cloudy sky is not so conducive to going out. I may be back later to add some notes on our activities and any breaking news that may have transpired throughout the day. Thank you for reading the News.

Putin agreed to allow "robust" security guarantees as part of peace deal, Trump envoy
Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to allow “robust security guarantees” for Ukraine from the United States as part of a potential peace deal during his summit with President Donald Trump on Friday, top envoy Steve Witkoff told CNN today.
“We agreed to robust security guarantees that I would describe as game changing,” Witkoff told Jake Tapper on “State of the Union,” describing the security guarantee as an “Article 5” type protection against further Russian invasion. He said Putin also agreed to “legislative enshrinement” by Russia to not go into any other territory, in Ukraine or elsewhere in Europe, as part of a potential peace deal.
Some context: Putin spelled out his demands for “land swaps” with Ukraine during his nearly three-hour summit with US President Donald Trump Friday, including his insistence Ukraine gives up the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, according to European officials familiar with Trump’s accounting of the meeting to his counterparts afterward.
Putin said in exchange, he would be willing to freeze the current front lines in the rest of Ukraine — in the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia — and agree to a promise not to attack Ukraine or other European nations again. But he didn’t back away from a demand to eliminate what Russia calls the “root causes” of the war in Ukraine — code for reducing the size of Kyiv’s military, abandoning its aspirations to join NATO and becoming a neutral state...

Zelensky pushes for greater clarity on security guarantees for Ukraine in event of peace deal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pushed for greater clarity on what “security guarantees” for Ukraine would look like in the event of a peace deal at his press conference in Brussels earlier.
“What President Trump said about security guarantees is much more important to me than (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s opinion. Putin will not give us any security guarantees,” Zelensky said alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The Ukrainian leader went onto list several unknowns about the potential arrangement, including “whether there are ‘troops on the ground,’ whether there is protection like in some other countries, in the sky, you know what I mean.”
“We really want to get an answer to these questions in order to understand what security guarantees are,” he added.
Zelensky later thanked von der Leyen for Europe’s support of Ukraine following the press conference.
“We agreed on the necessity of a ceasefire for subsequent diplomatic steps, effective security guarantees for Ukraine, and continued sanctions pressure on Russia to limit its future potential,” Zelensky posted on X.

Witkoff describes NATO-like security guarantee as a major breakthrough in Putin talks
As we reported a short time ago, US envoy Steve Witkoff told CNN this morning that Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to allow a collective defense provision for Ukraine in a future peace deal.
Here’s more on that from US President Donald Trump’s envoy:
Workaround arrangement: Witkoff said the clause — akin to NATO’s “Article 5” agreement that an attack against one is an attack against all — was a way of getting around Russia’s insistence Ukraine never be able to join NATO itself.
“We got to an agreement that the United States and other European nations could effectively offer Article 5-like language to cover a security guarantee,” Witkoff told Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

CANADIAN NEWS:
Let us examine the progress of Carney's campaign promises for AI to accelerate the business sector. I often wonder about these wonderful things they propose, then get swept under the carpet, never to be heard again. I hate fake news, deceivers, braggarts, and liars. It would certainly make for a good trust remover, or should I say rust and bird π¦π© remover off of steel girders on a train trestle.
Carney's campaign made big promises for AI. Will his government deliver?
Mark Carney's promise to lead a Canadian economic transformation includes a renewed focus on artificial intelligence, which the new prime minister listed as a key pillar of his plan.
Experts say they are encouraged by Carney's campaign pledge to invest in the technology. But they say that after establishing itself as a leader in the early decades of AI development, Canada risks falling further behind other countries if his government doesn't deliver.
"They care about the right stuff and I think they are generally on the right track," said Lawrence Zhang, head of policy at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation's Centre for Canadian Innovation and Competitiveness.
"I don't know if they're going to deliver or not. But it's extremely important that they do deliver."...
- A need for consistent investment:
The Carney government hasn't announced a specific timeline for some of his AI-related promises, such as a new Office of Digital Transformation.
"AI has been and remains a priority given its enormous potential to support transformation across all sectors, including in government," a Privy Council Office spokesperson told CBC News in an email._
This one sounds much like watching the caboose on a train slowly disappear in the distance, and thinking. Unfortunately, I missed the last train out of Moosenee.
