TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you 🙏

At least the sun has returned, and it's much milder out this morning. A picture-perfect August morning, the lazy, hazy days of summer are nearly over. By next week, it will drop to the high 60s to a maximum. 75°F

The first day of school, which some children dread and others look forward to, is a chance to meet up with their schoolmates once more after the summer holidays, meet their new teacher, and learning a new curriculum. What a pity that one ignorant educational hater, the ORANGE PUS BAG, is trying to turn OUR schools into work camp training schools. Don't You Know? Don't forget. DON'T FORGET you elected this Orange Beast, and now you owe your soul to the company store.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

A REPUBLICK:

The corporations are taking over, for now, for how long? Even corporations need a legal and controlled trade market; if not, it's chaos time, and Trump, for some insane reason, loves his bizarre idea of being king of what will eventually fall apart into a third-world country. Welcome to 18 and 64 folks! The Orange Pus Bag, or, rather, his adviser, whom I also think is a nutcase, but has more brains than "F'n" Orange Face, doesn't even have an inclination on how to begin setting up a Nazi regime. Even Putin's regime and his oligarchs are organised, trained, and follow instructions, working for the state, the state being Putin. Yes, working for the state, not the people. I'm a Canuck and I have known that since public school. A REPUBLIC...

  • Republic:

A republic is a form of government where supreme power rests with the citizens, who typically exercise this power through elected representatives. Unlike a monarchy, a republic does not have a monarch or hereditary ruler; instead, its chief of state is usually a president or similar figure elected by the people. The term "republic" comes from the Latin phrase res publica, meaning "public thing" or "public affair," highlighting that the government serves the common good of the people.

It's the Same For Canadians.

Except that Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy in the Westminster tradition.

All of our laws were" much the same judicial system. Our cross-border trade was like the border was an invisible line that no one really paid much attention to, except for the waiting time to cross it.

If you have a NEXUS, you could go through almost casually, like I loved exchanging jokes with the Border Security personnel on the way through.

Now, being a Canadian, they may send me to Guantanamo. You know that Pesky old witch from the TREE HOUSE NEWS. He loves witch hunts. I got a curse or two for him, and if that's not enough, I could always say "mas" in French.

Now, for a short look at what insanity has been unleashed since yesterday.*_

BREAKING NEWS:

FBI conducts search at John Bolton’s home as part of resumed national security investigation

The FBI conducted a court-authorized search at John Bolton’s home as part of a national security investigation into whether he disclosed classified information in his 2020 book, according to two people familiar with the matter.

CNN observed FBI personnel at President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser-turned-critic’s house in the Washington, DC, area. They were seen speaking to a person on the porch of the house, and at least four to six agents were seen going inside.

Some of the agents took bags out of the vehicles to bring inside, but nothing was seen coming out of the residence. The FBI had also planned to search Bolton’s office on Friday morning, according to a source familiar with the investigation, though it was unclear when that search would be conducted. CNN saw several unmarked federal vehicles outside Bolton’s office building in downtown Washington on Friday morning...

GOP governors are sending troops to DC. Their states have 10 cities with higher crime rates

At least ten cities in states whose Republican governors are deploying National Guard troops to Washington, DC, had higher rates of violent crime or homicide than DC last year, according to a CNN review of FBI data.

Governors from Ohio, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and West Virginia announced this week that they’re sending troops to assist President Donald Trump’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital. Violent crime was already falling in DC, though it still ranks 17th among major cities.

In the past week, Trump federalized DC’s police force, surged federal law enforcement agents into the city, and deployed the DC National Guard.

Military officials said there were nearly 2,000 soldiers and airmen mobilized in DC as of Thursday afternoon. Governors from the six states previously said they’re contributing about 1,000 troops. And yet, their home states have cities with worse crime rates than DC – like Cleveland, Nashville, and Jackson, Mississippi, which was No. 1 in homicides per capita last year...

Gaza City suffering a ‘man-made’ famine that’s likely to spread, UN-backed initiative says

Parts of Gaza are officially experiencing a “man-made” famine, according to a Friday report by a United Nations-backed initiative, which added that the situation is expected to worsen after months of relentless conflict.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) found that famine has been confirmed in the Gaza Governorate, which includes Gaza City, now also the site of a major new Israeli offensive.

“As this Famine is entirely man-made, it can be halted and reversed,” the report said. “The time for debate and hesitation has passed, starvation is present and is rapidly spreading. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that an immediate, at-scale response is needed.”...

3 provinces, 1 territory made pharmacare deals. Ottawa won't say if others are coming

Provinces with national program in place seeing savings, expanded coverage

Two provinces have implemented pharmacare this year, two more jurisdictions are preparing to roll it out and the rest of the country doesn't know if Ottawa still intends to subsidize some prescription drugs for them, too.

National pharmacare may become a regional privilege afforded to only four of Canada's 13 provinces and territories. Health Minister Marjorie Michel raised suspicions Ottawa would abandon future pharmacare deals when she said in July that Canada has "a new government" and the country is "in a new context."...

Fed up Canadians say no one at CRA is taking their call. The union says it's set to get worse

+Job losses mean fewer than 5% of callers are getting to speak to an agent, union says

Many Canadians are complaining they can't reach anyone at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) by phone to address important tax matters, and the union representing agency workers has joined affected taxpayers in pleading with the federal government to fix the problem.

"It's just so frustrating and disappointing," said Krista Tucker Petrick of North Bay, Ont., one of several affected taxpayers interviewed by CBC News. She said she has been calling the CRA at least twice daily for weeks to deal with her late stepmother's estate...
