TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏑

NEWS AGGREGATION & COMMENTARY

May Great Spirit bless πŸ™

Here on the Niagara Peninsula, today is supposed to be a mixed bag of rain and freezing rain, with temperatures ranging from 25° F to 41° F, and some heavy rain by 11:00 PM, with light winds from the ESE. On Monday, it will start the same as today, but it will get colder later in the day, with winds up to 45 mph and more with rain in the morning, then a couple of snow showers in the afternoon. Neither day is ideal to even think of leaving the house, but at least it's not extremely cold, and we are missing most of the snow; everyone else to the north and south of us is getting it, as usual, and I ain't a complainin'.

I like the green grass, and I have the Christmas tree all lit up, that's enough reminder of winter, but it's lovely to sit here on the couch and relax at night, just looking at all the lights reflecting everywhere from my mirrored, glass-front curio cabinet. I also have the outdoor laser projector sending tiny lights into the trees across the drive. Again, that will be enough outdoors for me. There was a long time in my life when I had no one to celebrate holidays with, so they didn't mean much to me except for an extra day off work. Now I can enjoy it more with Paula, who has been here to share it with me. I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR 🧨 ✨ πŸ’₯ πŸ’« 🎊 - Be Blessed and Be Happy. Thank you for reading the News.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

These small-business owners will become uninsured after key ACA subsidies expire

When patients come to Eric Frankenfeld's chiropractic practice with insurance woes, his wife, Lisa, the office manager, tells them not to worry because she'll work with them to keep care affordable.

But starting in January, the Frankenfelds might need to ask for the same treatment from their own doctors, since they will become uninsured. The Point Pleasant, New Jersey, couple will no longer be able to afford their Obamacare plan after the enhanced premium subsidies lapse at year's end. They decided to forgo coverage after learning that their plan's premium will skyrocket to $1,928 a month, up from $340 this year. Though they are both healthy, the idea of losing coverage keeps Lisa Frankenfeld, 62, up at night — worrying one of them might be diagnosed with cancer, suffer a stroke or heart attack, or get into a serious accident...

The potential to lose everything

Perception of Compassion:

Aid organizations argue that the cuts are at odds with "mainstream American values" and have devastating human consequences, which some argue amounts to a "GLOBAL EMPATHY CRISIS". Conversely, proponents of the cuts argue for an "America First" approach, emphasizing that the Government should concentrate on domestic problems and ensure taxpayer money is used efficiently.

DO YOU CALL THIS EMPATHY? THESE MISERABLE MONSTERS ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO KILL EMPATHY. DO WE WANT THIS GARBAGE IN CANADA?

*THE TRUMPO THE TYPO WANTS - YOU - TO LIVE IN A TENT ON THE STREET! WITHOUT CARE OR AID, JUST DIE LIKE A STARVING DOG ON THE STREET.

*YOU JUST SOLD YOUR SOUL TO IT. WELL, YA JUST GOT THE STRAIGHT POOP ON THAT ONE!

Go ahead and fight for what morals are left, it may be too late since the federal government has already fallen apart to do the will of the oligarchs through chaos, doubt, violence, and Naziism! But the Orange Retard behind it is so crazy coo-coo, stupid to know how to create a Nazi government. But somebody else can design one for him. In My Opinion

Zelensky and Trump to meet in Florida after weeks of intensive peace talks

West Palm Beach, Florida

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives here Sunday as his frozen capital of Kyiv comes under assault by Russian missiles and drones, a deadly reminder from the war’s aggressor that its attacks would continue even amid accelerated peace talks.

The 1 p.m. ET Mar-a-Lago meeting between Zelensky and President Donald Trump, announced only two days beforehand, is intended to close gaps in the original 28-point peace plan that Trump first proposed last month and which Ukraine has since revised to 20 points. Intensive work has been underway by American envoys to finalize a proposal both Ukraine and Russia can agree on.

Trump, who has been in Palm Beach since December 20, will interrupt his holiday break for the discussion. The meeting was arranged after Zelensky held an hour long phone call late last week with Steve Witkoff, Trump’s foreign envoy, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law who is working to finalize the peace agreement...

It’s time for Republicans to start thinking about 2028 and the post-Trump era

The next presidential election is several eternities away from now in terms of politics. Only a fool would try to predict the form of the political conversation in three years, much less a few months in the unpredictable Trump era. But we do know the next election will offer Americans new choices on the right and the left. There won’t be a Trump, a Clinton or a Bush anywhere near the ballot.

About half of Americans said in a new CNN Poll that the 2028 presidential election has been on their mind at least somewhat. At Turning Point USA’s annual AmericaFest conference in Arizona last weekend, the conservative group’s leader Erika Kirk all but endorsed Vice President JD Vance, even though he has not launched a campaign...

  • JD Vance is Republicans’ 2028 pace car:
  • Trump is teasing a Vance-Rubio ticket:
  • Vance will need to become his own candidate. But he’s morphed before:
  • He has evolved. He could continue to evolve:
  • DeSantis, Cruz and others on the outside looking in:
  • Practice makes perfect:

Watch for Republicans positioning on key issues and testing Trump

  • A loose coalition without an ideological center:

This Toronto long-term care home is being redesigned after learning from the COVID-19 pandemic

Expert says provincial standards outdated, more small-scale care homes needed

A downtown Toronto long-term care home is rebuilding with a new design that considers lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, going beyond the province’s standards — but some say those standards are out of date.

Right down to the placement of garbage cans, the new design of the Rekai Centre’s Cherry Place aims to prevent the spread of viruses and prioritize residents’ emotional and social needs, according to the centre’s CEO, Sue Graham-Nutter. “We never wanted our residents to go through this ever again,” she said...

  • ‘Small care homes’ best practice, expert says:

Ontario narrowly misses target of 4 hours direct care for long-term care residents
