NEWS AGGREGATOR & COMMENTS

May Great Spirit bless 🙏

Good morning, welcome to another grey, cold mini iceage morning. The way I see it, predicting it from just going on feelings, like back in mom and dad's day, some people could feel a change in the weather coming the next day. I don't feel it, but I predict it from arthritis in my knee or hands. Mine is more like an inside job. I feel something like a switch flipping inside, but I just don't know exactly when or where, just that this weather pattern will come to an ABRUPT end within the next couple of days.

Which I will settle for and be happy. February is usually chilly; our normal maximum low is around +15 F, and a high of up to +35 to 40 F, but this year we were 15 F below our usual low of 15 F and an additional 15 F colder, for a total of 0 F. It is chilly, but there is usually plenty of bright sun here on the Niagara Peninsula in February. Another old saying is: "Winter comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, or vice versa." I believe that saying holds more water than just by chance. So get the rain barrel out, Martha, it's a goin' ta rain!

PRAYER TIME:🙏

Let us all pray 🙏 that when the rains come, it's not too much too quick. We got lots of snow this year, which hopefully will replenish the reservoirs both west of the California mountains and on the East Coast. I especially pray that this will give Lake Mead and the Mississippi River a good kick in the pants as far as water level goes, at least for the springtime. I pray for more consistent rain in those areas during the summer, and please keep Canada free of major forest fires. Thank you, Great Spirit, for hearing this prayer, AMEN!

TRUMPO THE TYPO & PUTIN THE PUDDIN' HEAD

Epstein tried to cozy up to Russian officials, including Putin, documents show

Jeffrey Epstein had a message he wanted to get to Russian President Vladimir Putin. It was June 2018 – about a year after Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, had suddenly died. Churkin had been someone Epstein met with regularly in New York, according to new documents released by the Department of Justice, and Epstein had even offered to help Churkin's son, Maxim, get a job at a wealth management firm there.

Now, Epstein was looking to talk with a different Russian official: Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. On June 24, 2018, Epstein emailed Norwegian politician Thorbjørn Jagland, then the secretary general of the Council of Europe, "I think you might suggest to Putin, that Lavrov, can get insight on talking to me. Vitaly Churkin used (to) but he died. ?!"...

Tusk said:

"I don't need to tell you how serious the increasingly likely possibility that Russian intelligence services co-organized this operation is for the security of the Polish state," Tusk added. "This can only mean that they also possess compromising materials against many leaders still active today."

On May 9, 2013, according to the documents, Epstein wrote to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak that Jagland "is going to see Putin in Sochi" on May 20 and that Jagland asked if Epstein would make himself available to meet with the Russian president "to explain how Russia can structure deals in order to encourage Western investment." ...

Gambling With The Devil

Question: What does gambling with the devil mean?

ANSWER:

"Gambling with the devil" is an idiom describing a situation where an individual takes a reckless, dangerous risk—often involving their morals, reputation, or long-term well-being—in exchange for immediate, fleeting rewards, such as wealth, power, or pleasure. It signifies a losing scenario where the "house" (the devil/sin) always wins, resulting in ultimate destruction, ruin, or the loss of one's soul. _*<- Big Period,_ that's it. I heard that expression way back since my grandad was still alive, and my dad, Dad, was a successful gambler, a sideline hobby, and he used that statement a lot.*_

Devil notwithstanding, it's all chance, and you set yourself up. The puddin' head part is: if you're not a good actor or a bluffer, and if you don't have a lot of self-confidence, and cannot be straight-faced, FORGET IT. You'll just end up with a broken leg and a busted head in the city dump.

But I do know someone like the aforementioned, his name is Mark Carney

Cooperation with ICE is the latest red vs. blue state divide

Cooperation with federal immigration enforcement is emerging as a major dividing line between red and blue states — and a source of intensifying conflict between President Donald Trump’s administration and local Democratic officials.

Even as Republicans and Democrats in Congress clash over setting new limits on the tactics used by federal immigration agents, red and blue states are pulling apart on whether to enlist in Trump’s agenda of mass deportation. Red states are now passing laws requiring all local law enforcement agencies to sign formal partnership agreements with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, even as more blue states are moving to prohibit local law enforcement from entering such agreements.

As on many fronts, Trump and congressional Republicans are trying to pressure blue states into adopting the red-state policies. Trump has repeatedly sought to block federal funding for states and cities that do not provide unfettered cooperation with his deportation agenda —  only to have his attempts repeatedly stopped by courts...

  • How ICE cooperation works:
  • Big cities hesitate to sign ICE agreements:
  • Blue states push back — to a point:

Man behind the Clarity Act has choice words for Alberta separatists and Danielle Smith

'No patience for separatist blackmail,' says former Liberal minister Stéphane Dion

Former Liberal cabinet minister Stéphane Dion is lambasting the brewing separatist movement in Alberta and demanding that Premier Danielle Smith clarify her position and lay out the next steps depending on the outcome of a possible independence referendum.

"I have no patience for separatist blackmail," Dion said in an interview on Rosemary Barton Live airing Sunday morning. He served as intergovernmental affairs minister under Jean Chrétien and tabled the Clarity Act after the 1995 Quebec referendum. "[Smith] needs to be clear," Dion told host Rosemary Barton. "Is she indifferent about the fact that Alberta is in Canada or not? Does she care? And if she cares, then she should say so." ...

Provincial officials still trying to find way to raise abandoned tidal turbine

The former Cape Sharp turbine was abandoned more than 7 years ago

Ten months after the Nova Scotia government’s Energy Department took the lead on finding a way to recover an abandoned tidal turbine from the depths of the Bay of Fundy, officials still cannot say when — or if — the 1,300-tonne device might be removed.

In an email last week, the executive director of the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE) said survey work by a remote-operated vehicle has been completed, as has a high-resolution multi-beam scan of the area. “We’re now gathering additional input to assess the feasibility of safely retrieving the turbine and ultimately help inform any decisions by the province,” Lindsay Bennett said...
