The silence and peacefulness; 🏞️ Nature at rest, all that can be heard is the tiny songbirds 🦜 chanting in the park across the driveway. It felt so relaxing with the Sun 🌞 shining down on me, I didn't feel much like going back inside. I just lay back, letting my mind drift as it would. I have some crazy ideas that flash through my mind. If I could snag one, like snagging a trout out of a creek, so I could have enough time to examine it. Or what if I had the mathematical formula to prove how the trout came to be? I would already have a space base on Mars, and maybe on a few moons of Jupiter, if I had chosen path #1 instead of 33 and a 1/2, because I couldn't make up my mind which one. I tried on many hats 👒🍮 🧢🧙‍♀️𓉴👒⛑️but they didn't fit 🤣😂

One day in June, during the height of the competition in Vancouver, a team of physicists gathered at the boatyard on the city's bustling Granville Island.

Like soccer fans flocking to the city, the researchers were motivated by a beautiful game in which genius and chance can sometimes conspire to produce a wondrous result.

But the physics game is more cosmic in nature. And unlike soccer, it's a water sport. That part at least was apparent to the onlookers as they contemplated the mysterious cargo delivered to the boatyard that morning.

When a shroud was pulled back, it revealed an open metal structure the size and shape of a shipping container. Within the rectangular frame stands an elaborately coiled stack of black cable carefully woven around columns of beach ball-sized glass spheres

As wildfire seasons become more extreme, some B.C. homeowners living in firezones are uninsured

It's been five years since Tricia Thorpe's home was razed to the ground with hundreds of others in the deadly 2021 Lytton wildfire.

"When you come home, and there's nothing left standing, and everything is leveled, you don't know where to start," she said. Thorpe, who has since rebuilt, faced a daunting challenge: her home wasn't insured.

"I was told flat out that fire was an insurable event. And because I had no insurance, not to expect any government help, which was really harsh at the time," she said. "My situation is not unique in this province."

There's still no official tally of how many homes have been lost to wildfire so far this year. But the number of families who have lost everything could number in the hundreds...
