As far as the weather 👩‍🏫 goes, it's partly cloudy and sunny 🌦️ but at least it's back to more summer-like temps. At the moment, I'm not sure whether the clouds or the sun will win out. "I bet two Canadian wooden nickels 🦫🪵🪙 the odds are on the clouds!" ☁️ I stood on the stage 🏟️ and shouted 🗣️📣 out to my fans in the crowd 👫👬🧍‍♂️🧍🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️🧍 👫👬"As The Stomach Turns!" 🍤 It's a new name for the daily drama of s--tty 💩 weather. 🌀 👅😁

E.U. Offers to Make Canada ‘Associate Member’ as U.S. Ties Weaken for Both

Canada and the European Union have been confronting an increasingly challenging relationship with the United States under President Trump.

The European Union has invited Canada to work toward becoming the bloc’s first “associate member,” a title meant to underscore Canada’s growing closeness to the 27-nation union as both face deteriorating relationships with the United States.

President Trump has waged a relentless trade war with Canada, challenging the nation’s economy. The United States has pulled back support for NATO and Ukraine, leaving the European Union scrambling to shore up its defenses. That has left both looking for new partners as the alliances established after World War II shift.

“We must urgently reimagine our partnerships,” said Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Union’s executive arm, on Wednesday during a speech in Strasbourg, France. Mark Carney, the prime minister of Canada, was seated directly to Ms. von der Leyen’s left as she made her address...

Mr. Carney gave a headline-grabbing speech at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, this year during which he argued that the world order that emerged from the Cold War was facing a “rupture, not a transition,” and that “middle powers must act together because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.” ...

Ottawa and Brussels already have a free-trade agreement, and though the deal has not been approved by 10 of the 27 E.U. member states, about 90 percent of trade between the European Union and Canada is tariff-free.

There is still hope that our world leaders have enough intelligence and ethics to make the right decisions to turn away from the precipice of this catastrophe. The future of the entire planet lies on the shoulders of those in the government WHO ARE SANE with the power to make decisions. PLEASE REMEMBER YOU HAVE POWER TOO! IT'S YOUR VOTE THAT DETERMINES WHO'S IN THE PRESIDENCY AND BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS! SUPREME COURT JUSTICES ARE PEOPLE IN ROBES; THEY ARE NOT GODS! They retire or die and need replacement. Your vote can determine how the Supreme Court decides cases, in favor of We, the People or in favor of corporations and the wealthy. Let us pray they will make the right, ethical decision AND STICK WITH IT!

As price of fuel ratchets up, so does anger of people who can no longer afford it

Protesters are taking to the streets around the world to voice anger about skyrocketing fuel prices and rolling blackouts, as the now monthslong US war with Iran drives up the cost of energy globally.

Oil prices climbed back above the $100 per barrel mark last week in the wake of further US strikes on Iranian oil tankers in the Gulf and reignited fighting in Yemen that threatens shipping in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

For the United States, that has meant elevated gas prices and stark warnings for households that rely on heating oil to keep warm in the winter, as analysts forecast a 30% jump in prices amid the Iran war.

While dozens of protests have been peaceful, demonstrators on Sunday blocked the Hasaka–Deir ez-Zor highway, where they burned tires and stopped oil tankers, according to ACLED, a global conflict monitor.

The World Economy Is Becoming Wary of the U.S.

America’s position of global economic stability is starting to look shakier as the Trump administration piles on debt and doubles down on sanctions.

Global investors are balking at U.S. bonds. Talk of the dollar’s dwindling power is getting louder. Foreign governments are hauling their gold out of American vaults.

Almost two years into President Trump’s second term, the world economy is increasingly looking for ways to distance itself from America. Concerns about a $40 trillion debt burden, the excessive use of sanctions to solve foreign policy problems and Mr. Trump’s penchant for pushing the limits of the rule of law are raising questions about the appeal of the United States as a haven for global investment.

Despite pledges by foreign companies and nations to invest in the United States — in many cases to curry favor with the White House — capital is starting to seek alternative destinations. “Geopolitical factors and U.S. weaponization of the dollar through financial sanctions are causing central banks and other official investors to attempt to diversify away from dollar...

Last year, Christine Lagarde, the president of the European Central Bank, said erratic policymaking in the United States was setting the stage for a “global euro moment.”

Federal Reserve Bank of New York. “I do think that there is a fear factor.”

That fear factor is also creating blowback for American companies that are trying to do business abroad.

Documents detail year-long investigation into group behind extortion, shootings, arson and fraud

CBC News has obtained a copy of a letter the Lawrence Bishnoi gang sent Canada's "defence minister, army and police" last year claiming to have 5,000 gang members in Canada and "more guns" than the police.

The letter sent to the Abbotsford Police Department and signed "Lawrence gang from India" was released through an Access to Information Act request for exhibits from an Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) hearing for a Bishnoi associate who was ordered deported in July. A police officer who testified at the hearing referred to the letter's existence, but the full text has never been made public...

Carney opens up Canada's 4 biggest airports to foreign investors
