Protesters are taking to the streets around the world to voice anger about skyrocketing fuel prices and rolling blackouts, as the now monthslong US war with Iran drives up the cost of energy globally.

Not sure what the weather ☔️ ⚡️☀️ will be like today. Right now it's half cloudy, and the rising sun is just peeking through the clouds ⛅️. Kind of cool-ish 🌬️ out there this morning, but it was nice to sit 💺 in the silence and peacefulness of the surrounding park woods 🏝️ 🌲🎍🌳 🌾🌴 across the driveway /┆\ from our apartment 🏢, the Tree House, I call it. I guess the "noise makers" (road construction) haven't started yet today.

_*I'll be sitting out here every chance I get, even in the winter. If the sun is bright and there is no wind, I can sit at the patio table with my coffee in a light winter jacket.

I grew up where there was a lot of outdoor space. We had closer neighbors up north in the lumber camps where my dad worked than we did in the homestead in central Ontario, where I grew up, where the closest neighbor was five miles away, and downtown was 11 miles away.

Even in all my travels across the US and Canada, I looked for the small places. Just somewhere to park my truck and camper, a creek for my fishing pole, lots of woods all around, and the friendly folks I met, for the most part, that I remember, no 🐎(‿ˠ‿)s. Actually! I don't remember any real nasty ones, American or Canadian.

Trump’s easiest path to saving the GOP’s midterms just disappeared

The August inflation report had a few bright spots, but in political terms, the president and the Republicans are out of time.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the consumer price index rose in August by 0.4% and 3.4% over the past year. The “core CPI” (the less volatile measure that removes food and energy prices) rose 0.3% for the month and 2.4% annually. For the fifth month in a row, inflation-adjusted wages fell on a yearly basis.

Were this September 2025, the BLS’ report would be disappointing for the White House but hardly catastrophic. Prime Minister Carney to strengthen Canada’s ties with European partners in visit to Strasbourg and Liverpool

In a rapidly changing world, Canada’s new government is focused on what we can control. We are building our strength at home and diversifying our partnerships abroad.

Our European allies are natural partners in this effort. We are bound by shared history, values, and increasingly shared interests and ambitions. Canada and our European partners are working together to create greater certainty, security, and prosperity for our peoples.

To that end, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, will travel to Strasbourg, France, and Liverpool, United Kingdom (UK), from September 15 to September 17, 2026.

In Strasbourg, the Prime Minister will address the European Parliament at the invitation of the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. He will also attend President von der Leyen’s State of the European Union (EU) address and meet with members of the European Parliament to strengthen Canada’s ties with the EU in trade, investment, and security.

In Liverpool, the Prime Minister will meet with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham, for the first time. Together, the leaders will discuss priorities for the Canada-UK relationship, specifically related to defence and security, energy, artificial intelligence, and critical minerals.

Since forming government, Prime Minister Carney has strengthened and expanded Canada’s relationship with our European partners. Last year, we launched the ambitious New EU-Canada Strategic Partnership of the Future and the Security and Defence Partnership to deepen cooperation across trade, technology, energy, and security.
