This will cause stress — stress that you may not be aware of because you have a struggle inside you. The negative — and the positive +, the ethics you grew up with and their seeming absence in government and society today — are fighting one another, as if empathy were a dying species. That's the world today. Greed and power rule.

My pent-up anger toward those who destroyed law and order and trashed empathy and social responsibility means my response comes across as a little too harsh at times; my apologies for that. I was not called out by a moderator. One of my own Groups is good at catching language edging toward vulgarity. I encroached on one of my own Group's rules. It's almost laughable, but it isn't.

Many residents whose homes were flooded are working to repair the damage caused by groundwater and sewage. They used heaters, dehumidifiers, sump pumps, and fans to dry out their basements and other flood-damaged areas of their homes. This equipment ran 24/7 to dry the areas again. That resulted in abnormally high electricity bills for their users. Added to other expenses caused by the floods, these electricity bills are an unexpected burden.

The power companies like Hydro One and Alectra could burnish their image as Good Corporate Citizens at little or no cost to themselves if they eased the burden of oversized hydro bills caused by equipment used to dry flood damage. The power companies could easily track when a customer's electricity consumption spiked, how long it remained high, and offer payment relief for such bills.

Customers could be given a fixed number of months to pay their flood-caused consumption at a nominal interest rate. The higher bills could be paid on time, the burden on customers eased, and the companies could be compensated for the use of their money and administrative expenses. Does this sound sensible to you?
