Hey, pssst, keep this secret to yourself, OK? THE SUN IS SHINING! It's almost like I was climbing to the top of the entry tube to my bomb shelter, wearing a stained and torn top, blue jeans with the legs cut off to make shorts, disheveled hair, and squinty eyes from living in subdued light.
This morning, the radiation monitors all around the shelter's complex flashed green, indicating a safe level of radiation outside. I'm about to flip the lid over, ... and ... WOW, THAT LIGHT! For the first time in ten years!
Or how about the individual who walked across the desert for a hundred miles, then found an oasis and nearly drowned in the pond? With her thirst satiated, she lay in the shade under beautifully manicured palm trees and flower beds along the edge of a well-groomed lawn, enjoying the coolness of the grass under her, and then the mirage disappeared.

Mirage Or Reality?
But no sooner does one mirage dissipate, another materializes to replace the previous. The trick is not to stop dreaming. Try to see if it is possible to connect the dream with reality. In reality, it will never be a perfect fit, but you may come up with some very interesting facsimiles.
Look at Walt Disney's fantasy movies, which are the best facsimile we have to bring fantasy to life. Those dreams came to the screen from books, legends, and short stories crafted by writers and storytellers over centuries. And our dreams continue.
Using Myself As An Example:
At one time, I had the world by the arse, had property facilities, and a whole bunch of ideas, some in progress, some still on paper, and all the play toys anyone would desire to have back in the 1970s. Then, a bad marriage kind of busted all that up. My collateral, the property, was gone. Let's just say If I wasn't an alcoholic before, I certainly was after.
But after the breakup, I sobered up, had fun, and traveled a lot. Then, I settled down and began my career in social work. I never dreamed I would be a social worker, but this work was very self-satisfying. It felt good to help someone else, and as long as I was of service to anyone who needed it, that made my day. It was a fulfilling job. It had its kinks, but it was so worth it. And I don't play cards anyway.😆
My last ship came into port, and my mirage materialized when I needed it. Now that I am retired and no longer able to do the physical part of volunteering, I have chosen to do my best to share this experience with you here.
Under the Orange Pus Bag's administration in Shmuckarica, I would have been living in a tent. What would have happened to all the people with whom I chaired AA meetings, not just in church basements but also in institutions for the criminally dysfunctional, Narcotics Anonymous, women's shelters, soup kitchens, and drop-ins from 1986 until 1992, and then from 1992 to 2012 as a support worker, managing a drop-in for mental health consumers?
I did my best with the tools I had, made my amends, and followed the road to redemption as best I could. With all the pain and suffering I've endured in the past decade, I think I have already traveled a good portion of that road to redemption.

But that was this week's battle.
