TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏑

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! May the Great Spirit bless you πŸ™

Well, at least it was a much better morning than yesterday; I felt like a Kentucky Fried Cockroach πŸͺ³ yesterday. Much zippier πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ this morning. I guess it was just something that didn't agree with my finicky stomach πŸ‘… yesterday.

I had breakfast, πŸ₯£, then I went out into my green space to sip my coffeeβ€”no sun, grey clouds, but nice and warm. I also noted that it was going to be a rather windy day today. I don't like strong winds; they play hell on my greenery arrangement in my green space. So I battened everything down as best I could. I have been thinking of getting a large fishing net 🎣 and just throwing it over everything when they predict strong winds. πŸ’¨ Tie the net to the couch? πŸ›‹ πŸ˜‰ Paula said, "No way!" πŸ˜‚

Well, that's about all the nonsense there is for this morning here in the Newsroom. Thank you for reading the News. Just to get off the topic of the orange puss bag for today's discussion. I am sure there will be plenty in the National News about the new household pest called Trumpitis. "WARNING!" Hit the panic button! πŸ”΄ It is a highly contagious disease.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION, ASTRONOMY:

Discovered giant planet named TOI-6894 b orbiting a red dwarf star

This star is the smallest one known with a large planet

  • Discovery challenges current planetary formation theories
  • The planet is a gas giant about the same size as Saturn

Are giant-sized planets more common than Earth-sized?

My question:

Is it more common to see giant planets around most stars as compared to Earth-sized ones?

- Google Search -

No, it is not more common to see giant planets (like Jupiter) around stars than Earth-sized planets. In fact, studies show that smaller, Earth-sized planets are significantly more common.

- Google Search -

Question?:

What does NASA's Survey Suggest about Earth-sized planets are Common? June 19, 2025

- Google Search response -

A NASA survey suggests that Earth-sized planets are likely ubiquitous in our galaxy. One NASA study, based on data from the Kepler mission, indicates that there are at least 46 billion Earth-size planets in the Milky Way. Furthermore, some research suggests that one in five sun-like stars may have an Earth-like planet in its habitable zone, meaning it could potentially support liquid water.

My opinion is that if they were to find any evidence of their once having been a fossilized microscopic life form on Mars, indicating that there was once a life force thriving on Mars, that would significantly increase the chances, at least by a factor of two, of there being life forms that developed on other planets.

One planet in an infinitesimally tiny space within our universe, even the best of our instruments are limited in detecting much in detail beyond Mars. But one thing we do know is that the universe is growing as it repeats itself, like a shock wave reverberating through the fabric of time and space, the ether. THE ABSURD UNIVERSE, by William Shatner and Neil deGrasse Tyson. Information that cannot be undoubtedly decoded from the limited temporal world view, since we have only recently conceived through quantum physics, or the theory of learning, the nature of the mechanics of our universe.

And how many universes are there in infinity? I would love to meet both of those characters before I pass away. I know I'm a frog, but I'm not ready to croak yet 🐸 and wide open to all potencialities, within reason.

"SICKENING!"

China learned a valuable lesson in US trade talks: the value of its leverage

US President Donald Trump may have touted the latest trade deal between the US and China as a win for America. But it's Chinese leaders who have walked away with an extra spring in their step.*

While full details of the agreement, reached by negotiators in London last week, remain under wraps, it appears largely to restore an earlier arrangement sealed in May, which had rapidly deteriorated as mistrust and tension between the two sides spiraled.

This time around, China has learned a key lesson: the power of its leverage over the US β€” and how it can use that to its advantage in the months ahead.

"China feels it has more bargaining power than it originally expected," said Liu Dongshu, assistant professor focusing on Chinese politics at City University of Hong Kong.

See moment SpaceX Starship rocket explodes

An explosion occurred late Wednesday night at SpaceX's Starbase facility in South Texas. A Starship rocket preparing for its tenth flight test experienced a "major anomaly," SpaceX says. There were no injuries, and all employees are accounted for, according to SpaceX. The cause of the explosion and the extent of any damage are unclear. CNN has reached out to local police and fire departments for more information.

Sad to say, but that's the way KARMA works. It can bring you to your knees or elevate you to where you need to be; it depends on what your intentions and actions are, which ultimately determine the outcome.

Brad Lander, a candidate used to getting arrested, shakes up New York's mayoral race

Brad Lander is used to getting arrested.

In 2015, Lander was detained during a protest in support of striking car wash workers. Two years later, Lander participated in an act of civil disobedience supporting the raise of the minimum wage in New York. Months after that, he was arrested at the US Capitol while protesting a tax reform bill he believed would favor wealthy corporations.

In 2018, Lander protested outside a state senator's office as part of a campaign to renew a school-zone speed camera program. He was arrested there, too.

But Lander's latest encounter with law enforcement immediately became his most famous. The New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate was arrested this week inside a federal building after he confronted federal officers to try to prevent a migrant from being taken into custody.

The arrest pushed Lander into the center of a Democratic primary campaign for New York City mayor that's been dominated by rivals Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mamdani...

Canada organizing flights in neighbouring countries for Canadians fleeing Israel, Iran

Airspace in Israel and Iran closed as conflict between 2 countries escalates

The federal government is planning to help Canadians fleeing the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran by organizing commercial flights out of neighbouring countries, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita says.

Speaking to CBC News Network's Power & Politics in an interview airing Thursday, Anand urged Canadians fleeing both countries to head to Jordan, Turkey, and Armenia, where Canada is boosting its consular services.

"We are very concerned about Canadians in the region and we are encouraging all parties to exercise maximum restraint," she told host David Cochrane...

Deficit to be $4.3B smaller than predicted, but spending plans remain obscure: budget report

Revision reflects $5.2B increase in predicted revenues for 2024-25

The Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) says the deficit will be smaller than predicted but the Liberal government's lack of clarity on fiscal planning has left Yves Giroux's office unable to determine if the government's spending plans are sustainable.

The Economic and Fiscal Monitor released by Giroux's office Thursday morning says that the deficit for 2024-25 will be $46 billion β€” $4.3 billion lower than it had predicted during the election and $2.3 billion lower than was estimated in the fall economic statement.

"The revision to our estimated deficit reflects a $5.2-billion increase in our estimate for revenues in 2024-25, somewhat offset by a $1-billion increase in our estimate for expenses," the report said...
