TREE HOUSE NEWS 🏡

Land of Whispering Pines 🌲

Good morning! I pray the Great Spirit be with you 🙏

May the Great Spirit 👼 be with you today and every day. 🌅 As I sit here in my green space 🏡 to relax and sip my coffee, it's a lot milder than it was, but the sky is still that beige color, with high clouds, 🌫 or smoke, who knows nowadays? Maybe too many butt holes, 🧿 🧻 who knows? They certainly have their fair share of those across the border, 📈 especially those in charge. The republicans are nothing more than a bunch of basket cases 🗑 📦 full of airheads, 🧶 dunces, ⏏️ sh-t pants coo coos, 💩 👖 🦜and Sadists. 👺

Now, with all the emojis, I am speaking in all languages: goodbye, adiós, au revoir, minwagigwabmn, in Ojibwa. Looked up correct spelling: Minawaa giga-waabamin. And maybe a little Italian, Ciao, and of course, Sayōnara. That's about my limit of languages that I know enough words to get in trouble with. 😱 And have a good day, and may the Great Spirit be with you all today and every day.

I grew up in the lumber camps, where it was quite common to see Italians, Poles, Swedes, a few Finns, Norwegians, a consortium of Frenchmen that dominated the northern Ontario lumber camps, and, of course, the square-headed English; they were mostly the town dwellers. The Indian reservation was only a mile away, and I loved exploring and walking long distances even back when I was 4 and 5 years old. I was also in almost every state and province in my later years. So I picked up a few words here and there. I lived in Tennessee for a while; that's another story for another time. I think I outdid Stompin' Tom.

TODAY'S DISCUSSION:

DEMOCRACY

- Google Search -

Democracy (from Ancient Greek: δημοκρατία, romanized: dēmokratía, dēmos 'people' and kratos 'rule') is a form of government in which political power is vested in the people or the population of a state.

CANADIAN:

Democracy, at its core, signifies rule by the people. It's a system of government where political power is vested in the citizens, who then exercise that power, directly or indirectly, through a system of representation. Canada, for instance, operates under a parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy, where citizens vote for representatives who then form the government.

Democracy in the United States

The United States is a representative democracy.

This means that our government is elected by citizens.

Here, citizens vote for their government officials.

These officials represent the citizens’ ideas and concerns in government.

Voting is one way to participate in our democracy.

Citizens can also contact their officials when they want to support or change a law.

Voting in an election and contacting our elected officials are two ways that

Americans can participate in their democracy.

The Trump EPA is telling some staff to stop policing the oil and gas industry

The Environmental Protection Agency has told staff overseeing the country’s industrialized Midwest — a region plagued by a legacy of pollution — to stop enforcing violations against fossil fuel companies, multiple sources told CNN.

The directive, which sources say was issued verbally to stunned staff in recent months, comes as EPA insiders say there is broad pressure within the agency to ease scrutiny of the industry.

Efforts — implicit and explicit — to reduce enforcement fit with an ambitious deregulation agenda being enacted by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin at the behest of President Donald Trump, who entered office promising to slash “burdensome” oil and gas industry regulations and increase production.

At the EPA, this has meant unwinding climate and pollution regulations finalized under former President Joe Biden, particularly those that curbed fossil fuel emissions...

**China’s aircraft carriers send message in the open Pacific for the first time – and bigger and more powerful ships are coming**

For the past month Chinese aircraft carrier strike groups have been operating further from home shores and in greater strength than ever before, testing state-of-the-art technology and sending a message they are a force to be reckoned with, analysts and officials say.

Since early May, a People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) flotilla led by the carrier Shandong has conducted exercises north of the Philippines; its newest carrier, the soon-to-be commissioned Fujian, has been on sea trials in disputed waters west of the Korean Peninsula; and its oldest carrier, the Liaoning has led exercises in the Pacific waters of Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

During the drills the Fujian for the first time conducted aircraft take-off and landing operations at sea using its advanced electromagnetic catapult system (EMALS), regional defense officials said.

The 10 biggest ways Trump has changed our politics, 10 years later

It’s now been 10 years since Donald Trump rode down that golden escalator and launched his 2016 presidential campaign. And plenty of people – raising my hand here – initially dismissed him as a passing novelty.

Little did we know at the time that this man would not only become president (twice), but would completely flip the political script in our country. Regardless of what happens from here, Trump has changed the course of our politics, in multiple ways.

So what are the biggest ones? Here are 10 that rise to the top.

The summit takes place over the next two days, with discussions focused largely on economic and security priorities.

Before the summit officially begins, Carney has a tête-à-tête with U.S. President Donald Trump.

  1. Comment, Paula Koval:

Cindy picked a timely topic: democracy. All of us should understand our system of government, how it came to be the way that We, the People, govern ourselves, and that the government governs by the consent of the governed. If the government becomes destructive to the freedom and liberty of the people, it is the people's duty to alter or abolish it.

There are no persons of title in America. No one is called Sir, Duke, Prince, Queen, or King. The only title any government official has is Honorable.
Our system of government has worked comparatively well since 1789, when Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution. Since then, the Constitution has been amended 27 times. The first ten amendments are called The Bill of Rights. These amendments enshrine all of the rights of everyone living in America, including free speech, the right of habeas corpus, the right to keep and bear arms in a regulated militia (this amendment is subject to much debate), the right to secure in your home and property, protection against self-incrimination, and more.

The current government has been hacking away at these rights and protections in every way it can. They are denying constitutionally guaranteed rights to undocumented immigrants by rounding up everyone they *suspect* is in America illegally and deporting them en masse without benefit of a court appearance. Why does this matter to you? Because if the government can deny the right of habeas corpus to one person, they can do it to more. It is the way of the dictator. Hitler did it. Mussolini did it. Taco is setting the stage to do it.

When funding is cut for Medicare, Medicaid, school lunches, Meals on Wheels, and other programs beneficial to many low-income, elderly, or disabled Americans, what makes anyone think that they will stay immune from the reverse Robin Hood of the Trump Administration and Congress? Will those having a special marker from the government be able to skate past all of the misery? Have you wondered about having "the mark?" Maybe it's here.

It's time for everyone to watch what's happening, like abolishing the Civil Service System to govern seniority, tenure, and promotion of non-appointed government employees. When the House and Senate finish their demolition, every job will be given to someone as a reward for political loyalty, not based on knowledge, skills, or abilities. It will be a government run by someone on someone's gift list. Think about that. More and worse know-nothings are watching over the nation.
    Sleep well, children.
