TODAY'S DISCUSSION:
Negative To a Positive
Continued from above:
How I handle the grey times (light depression) is as I mentioned above - there are different ways to do that. Visiting one of those peaceful places in my mind is a starter. From that position, I like to seek the humorous side of things in any situation, excluding death and all that other dark grey stuff. I'm talking about the other grey stuff, like having a rough day on the job, a spat with your partner, overdue bills, kids raising hell, neighbors complaining about your music, and other things. Calamities like losing your house, and in some cases, even losing your family and ending up on the street, no medical care or aid for the sick, the old, the veteran, or street people. HOW MANY WILL BE IN TENTS come this November? And no one yet has faced up to this maniac and gotten him institutionalized, is where that Orange puck should be, IN AN INSANE ASYLUM!
I can send sincere prayers for the unfortunate everywhere. That's not just words; they come from MY HEART. 🙏 ❤️
When I start to feel grey inside, I can usually dispel the greyness by allowing my mind to drift to a place of peace, often a happy time or a special place from my childhood. As for problem solving, I usually turn whatever is troubling me into a cartoon strip in my mind. That way, what is troubling me seems less problematic after making fun of it. 🤔 I love mind cartoons. 🐰 Anything is possible in cartoons, and you would be surprised how you can come up with an answer to the problem in cartoon land.😂 I believe they call it looking at things with a sense of humor.

BREAKING NEWS:
Republican plans to overhaul Medicaid are already shaking up the 2026 midterms
Senate Republicans have yet to finalize their version of President Donald Trump’s sweeping domestic policy proposal, but GOP lawmakers up for reelection in 2026 are bracing for the political impact of the bill’s Medicaid cuts.
Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is pushing for a provider relief fund. Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina has warned GOP leaders about how many in his state could lose care. And Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa has picked up a crop of Democratic challengers campaigning off her “Well, we all are going to die” response to a town hall protester.
Tens of thousands of people could lose coverage in each of those three senators’ states, according to a KFF analysis on the version of the bill passed by the Republican-led House last month. Beleaguered Democrats, meanwhile, hope that laser-focusing on health care will help them chip away at the Republicans’ 53-seat Senate majority and take back the House. A key part of Democratic messaging has been to tie the Medicaid cuts, which would largely affect low-income Americans, to tax breaks for the wealthy.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates the changes would reduce federal Medicaid spending by roughly $800 billion over 10 years, largely by instituting work requirements for certain adults eligible for Medicaid and postponing a Biden administration rule intended to simplify enrolling and renewing coverage
“It is crazy politics for them to do this,” said Brad Woodhouse, a longtime Democratic operative and executive director of Protect Our Care, a health care advocacy group that launched a $10 million campaign this year to oppose Medicaid cuts. “Everyone is going to be unhappy with this bill, unless you’re a very high net worth individual: a millionaire, a multi-millionaire, a billionaire, or a large corporation.”
Many Republicans argued that the cuts to Medicaid are meant to sustain the program for those who need it most. They’re also betting the rest of the bill will be more popular...

President Donald Trump is using false claims to promote his massive domestic policy bill.
"M.F.!"
In a White House speech on Thursday, Trump falsely claimed Medicaid is “left the same” by the bill. In fact, both the version of the legislation that was narrowly passed by the House in May and the latest version now being contemplated by the Senate contain major Medicaid policy changes and funding cuts that are expected to result in millions of people losing insurance coverage.
Trump also falsely claimed that the bill includes “no tax” on Social Security benefits. The legislation would not actually fulfill Trump’s campaign promise to completely eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits, though it would temporarily give seniors a substantially bigger tax deduction. And Trump falsely claimed that “there’ll be a 68% tax increase” if Congress doesn’t approve the bill; there is no credible estimate of anything close to a 68% hike.
One caveat: since Congress has not yet sent a final bill to Trump’s desk, it’s possible that legislators will make major changes before the Senate votes. But Trump’s claims are inaccurate with regard to the House-approved version and the version senators are considering. Asked for comment on the president’s false claims, the White House provided an on-record response that touted the benefits of the bill but did not defend Trump’s specific assertions.

Confessions of a gun smuggler: Former trafficker reveals how she brought weapons into Canada
Ex-Montrealer Naomi Haynes shares the tricks of her trade, and her life story, with CBC News
Everyone knows guns used by Canadian criminals are often smuggled from the U.S. Not everyone knows how — not like Naomi Haynes does. That's because she did the smuggling. A native Montrealer who's been living in the U.S. for decades, she helped traffic dozens of weapons into Canada, some linked directly to drug gangs.
"I wasn't thinking about the havoc I was causing in my birth land," she told CBC News last week. "I've got my kids, I've got bills. The only thing I [was] thinking about is monetary gains. I wasn't thinking about the people who are going to be affected." CBC News established contact with Haynes while she was in prison — at first communicating by email, then with a glitchy prison video app and then in a lengthy interview following her release last year.
Her story helps shed light on the thousands of guns a year in Canada in the smuggling trade...

Comment, Paula Koval:
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Everyone! Thank you for visiting.
It’s a splendid summer day here in the Niagara Region of Ontario, with mostly sunny skies and a temperature of 27°C. I’ll be outside as soon as I finish writing my comments on Cindy’s Newsroom Posts.
Turning an adverse event and its resulting feelings into positive ones was an optional behavior, a skill learned in self-improvement courses by those with time for classes. Today, it’s an essential life skill because one megalomaniacal narcissist nurturing grudges and a persecution complex has made the lives of millions in America and around the world full of uncertainty, misery, suffering, and preventable death.
As I see it, the only defense that We, the People, have against him, Stephen Miller, Elon Musk’s DOGE legacy, the presidential cabinet of oligarchs, the Republican-dominated Congress of Trump toadies, and the concierges of the Justice Department and the Supreme Court, is to prevent the shitstorm we’re in from burying us and killing our hope for a better life.
The good times don’t last forever. Neither do the bad. I am a mortal and so are all those making a mess for us by cutting every form of benefit and assistance possible, like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, SNAP, the school lunch program, and everything else instituted to help working people, especially single parents who eke out an existence for their children. The elderly face the loss of Medicaid coverage for long-term care facilities, forcing them to close. Cuts to Medicare and Medicaid have already led to the closure of some rural hospitals due to a lack of operating funds.
The firing of government employees by Musk and DOGE created thousands of unemployed persons unable to draw jobless benefits because they were fired instead of laid off or let go in a way that would allow them to collect unemployment insurance benefits. If I had the luck to see Musk on the street selling pencils from a cup, I would kick the cup out of his hand and knock his stool over, but I’m not as low as he is.
Within all of us lies the ability to find something that brings us happiness. It might be waking up healthy or sleeping soundly. The love and care of a partner, or maybe a family, is a brilliant light of life. For whatever reason, things on the job look grim. Perhaps the prospects of different employment look better. There is a memory of a place or time that’s pleasant or fun to recall.
There is a memory of a place or time that’s pleasant or fun to recall. Going there is easy, so consider returning for a while and enjoying it. Let it lift the spirits! Perhaps there’s a place at home or nearby that serves as a good relaxation spot. Go there and stay a while and savor the positive vibes.
Ecclesiastes 1:9
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
9 What has been, that will be; what has been done, that will be done. Nothing is new under the sun!
Nothing lasts forever, not even MAGA misery Our defense is inside of us, in our thoughts The space we give to negativity in our lives and minds is our choice When things seem calamitous, I will call out to the Higher Power of my personal understanding, the power above humans I begin to relax I might see a beach in the Outer Banks from a visit 30 years ago, and I let myself return. Those are what help me.
Thank you for considering my views.
