Great Spirit bless π
Hi everyone, it's another beautiful, sunny morning again at the Tree House News. I am moving in slow motion this morning, but everything is going fine after what seemed like an endless task, getting the morning chores done. I finally sat down a little later than usual, with my fresh-brewed coffee in hand. Looking out the sliding glass doors, in the warming rays of the early sunlight, I felt peaceful, like a babe in a mother's arms, "new life!"
_*That is what guided me in my first meditation today. π I sat there, still, for a few moments. Now here I am in the Newsroom π° with my partner and Editor, and me, the Publisher and Chief of News Gathering, Comments, My Views, and Discussions. Your thoughts are appreciated; just please leave the pitchforks and torches at the door π±π₯πͺ Unless you can cuss in @?#%&*, then no cussing. Or another example, "they're nothin' but a bunch of debauchery! Nincompoops! Dumbbells! Numbskulls! Creepology, Idiot Syndrome;" actually they're all listed in the dictionary, some are for real, others are just Colloquial Diction, some with a history dating back as far as 1670s, Latin, and of course, my favorite, the Dunce Cadets, my own Cindy's invented Colloquialism. November 2025.
That's The Trumpo The Typo's Smorgasbord for, We, The People, for today.
A smorgasbord of airsandwiches, with any ingredient you wish, but it has to be imaginary. 2 bits for one, and if you have 4 bits plus 1 bit for tax, you can have the whole lot of them. "But be warned!" If you find a dead mouse in your air sandwich, don't go a' wavin' it aboot, or they'll charge you 8 bits more for meat ππ₯ͺ Thank you.
TODAY'S DISCUSSION:
AI / Red Button
Some OpenAI staff are fuming about its Pentagon deal
AI CEO Sam Altman speaks during Snowflake Summit 2025 at Moscone Center on June 2, 2025, in San Francisco, California
Messages written in chalk covered the sidewalk outside OpenAI's San Francisco offices Monday morning: "Where are your redlines?" "You must speak up." "What are the safeguards?" The messages, according to social media and news reports, were written by activists. But some of those feelings are shared by many within the building, after OpenAI struck a deal with the Pentagon on Friday to use its AI models in classified systems.
Anthropic had already rejected an update to its contract with the Pentagon because it felt the language didn't adhere to the company's redlines around the use of AI in mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. The Pentagon blacklisted the company as a result, designating it a supply chain risk.
The contracts are steeped in legal and technical complexity. But in public forums and in private conversations, OpenAI employees are venting about how OpenAI leadership handled the Pentagon negotiations. Many employees "really respect" Anthropic for standing up to the Pentagon and are frustrated with OpenAI's handling of their own contract, one current employee told CNN on the condition of anonymity to speak freely...

LET THAT SINK IN, FOLKS. I do pray that the Great Spirit help guide everyone to make the right decisions. Our decisions could be just as deadly a result as allowing the Demented Trumpo The Typo have access to the big red button. Now think about having the demented orange puss head with two big red buttons? THINK ABOUT IT!
If I ever wished I could get abducted by aliens, I wish the time were now. They can keep me as a pet, "arf, arf!" π

CIA working to arm Kurdish forces to spark uprising in Iran, sources say
The CIA is working to arm Kurdish forces with the aim of fomenting a popular uprising in Iran, multiple people familiar with the plan told CNN. The Trump administration has been in active discussions with Iranian opposition groups and Kurdish leaders in Iraq about providing them with military support, the sources said.
Iranian Kurdish armed groups have thousands of forces operating along the Iraq-Iran border, primarily in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Several of the groups have released public statements since the beginning of the war hinting at imminent action and urging Iranian military forces to defect. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been striking Kurdish groups and said on Tuesday that it targeted Kurdish forces with dozens of drones. The CIA support for Iranian Kurdish groups began several months before the war, one of the sources and a senior Kurdistan Regional Government official said...

Vancouver teacher says sudden licence suspension felt like a 'gut punch'
Questions remain about missed pay and better communication from the ministry
As a birthday surprise for secondary school teacher Chris Matisz, he received what he felt like a "gut-punch" when he opened a letter from the Ministry of Education saying he had lost his job.
"It literally feels like in the moment that your whole world has turned upside down," said Matisz. Matisz was one of dozens Lower Mainland teachers who had their licences revoked last week after critical emails about updating their criminal record checks were sent to spam folders, or not received at all. Every five years teachers in B.C. must renew their criminal record checks through the Ministry of Education and Child Care...

'It's not easy, let's be clear': Carney speaks frankly about dealing with Trump at an event in Australia
Carney said Trump is open to hearing ideas and solicits opinions from those he speaks with
Prime Minister Mark Carney pulled back the curtain on his relationship with his American counterpart Wednesday evening in Australia saying it's not easy dealing with U.S. President Donald Trump and he must choose his words carefully to avoid any blowback.
Speaking at a think tank question-and-answer session in Sydney on his Indo-Pacific tour, Carney said Trump is also somewhat different in private than he is in public and there's room for a free flow of ideas when you sit down with him face-to-face. Asked how he has navigated the relationship with the sometimes erratic Trump so far, Carney said: "Respect but not obsequiousness." ...

As Iran war raises terror risk, U.S. enforcement agencies are spread thin, experts say
U.S. faces heightened threat level after a year of big changes to agencies that oversee security
In the hours after the U.S. began its military operation in Iran, a cascade of national security departments and agencies, including the FBI and Homeland Security, began notifying the public that they would be stepping up their activities around the country because of a heightened risk of international and domestic terrorism.
But after a year of federal budget cuts, resignations, firings, layoffs and a reshuffling of the Trump administration's priorities, some national security experts are worried about the ability of those agencies to respond. "The administration has reduced U.S. capabilities in this area, so the United States might be more vulnerable than it was a year ago," said Daniel Byman, director of the Warfare of Irregular Threats and Terrorism program at the non-partisan Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. ...
