Great Spirit bless π
Good Saturday morning, everyone! Well, it's a good morning that I'm alive and well, and not the sickly, tortured, "I'm a dying cockroach!" - π§πͺ³ like I was earlier this winter. Anything is better than going through that again. I'd sooner get run over by a pavement road roller or get hit by a meteorite.
I am quite happy to be sitting here in my comfy chair, thanks to Paula. It's a very ordinary-looking office chair, not a big one either, but very comfortable to sit in; the seat conforms to my butt πͺπ«(‿Λ ‿)
I'm in my Tree House Newsroom π‘ where it's pleasant, warm, and bright, sitting here comfortably, sharing what I hope is useful information and updates on the News, along with my comments, shared wisdom, and thoughts and feelings on various news topics. *WARNING!* Don't throw any rotten tomatoes at me; it could mess up your monitor ππ₯️
I was out briefly in my Green Space ☘️πΎπΊ, it's pretty wet π§ out there, must have had a good dousing of rain π¦ last night. I can hear the water from the swollen creek π in the woods nearby; I can see it from here, and the temperature is mild, but not where they are calling for yet. It is supposed to be around 70° F today. I would say it was around 40° F when I was out there at 7:00 AM. Well, that's about all there is to report from the Newsroom this morning. Thank you for reading the Tree House News.

BREAKING NEWS:
Trump signals he will escalate war with Iran as Tehran mulls new US targets
The latest signs of escalation come after Iran’s president apologized to Gulf neighbors for recent strikes.
Here's The Latest:
• Trump’s warning: US President Donald Trump says Iran “will be hit very hard” today, with new areas of the country under consideration for “complete destruction and certain death.” Tehran is looking for new US assets to strike in response, a senior Iranian official told CNN.
• Iranian president’s apology: The latest signs of escalation came shortly after Masoud Pezeshkian apologized for strikes on neighboring Gulf states. But the Iranian president said Tehran would still target areas where US attacks originated, and it’s unclear if his statements align with the goals of the country’s armed forces and powerful Revolutionary Guard.
• Fallen troops to return home: A dignified transfer for the six US service members killed in the conflict will take place today at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Trump and Vice President JD Vance are expected to attend...

Trump tells CNN Cuba is soon going to fall: ‘I’m going to put Marco over there’
VIDEO | Included:
President Donald Trump told CNN Friday morning that Cuba “is going to fall pretty soon.”
“Cuba is gonna fall pretty soon, by the way, unrelated, but Cuba is gonna fall too. They want to make a deal so badly,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash in a phone interview when touting US military success in his second term.
“They want to make a deal, and so I’m going to put Marco (Rubio) over there and we’ll see how that works out. We’re really focused on this one right now. We’ve got plenty of time, but Cuba’s ready — after 50 years,” he added, explaining that Iran is the current priority. He added of Cuba: “I’ve been watching it for 50 years, and it’s fallen right into my lap because of me, it’s fallen, but it’s nevertheless fallen right into the lap. And we’re doing very well.” ...

Ukraine’s counter-drone expertise has been hard won. War in the Middle East may reveal its silver lining
As Iran unleashes a wave of retaliatory drones strikes on critical infrastructure around the Persian Gulf, Ukrainian expertise in countering those drones appears to be in demand.
Days into the war with Iran, the Trump administration has identified Tehran’s arsenal of Shahed one-way attack drones as a serious military challenge. In a closed-door briefing earlier this week on Capitol Hill, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine acknowledged that the relatively cheap and low-flying drones, which can saturate and overwhelm air defenses, have been a bigger problem than anticipated, according to two sources that were present.
It’s a military challenge the Ukrainians have become intimately familiar with four years after Russia’s full-scale invasion. Cities around Ukraine are routinely bombarded by a combination of drones and missiles, sometimes hundreds in one night. But even as Moscow continues its bid to break Ukrainian resolve by targeting power generating facilities and the energy grid, officials in Kyiv are signaling that they can share their know-how on combating drones with states in the Middle East...

Canada could be called on to help defend Gulf states, says top military commander
Conservatives say Parliament should debate any military participation in Middle East
The head of the Canadian Armed Forces says Canada may be called on to help defend Persian Gulf states from Iran's strikes as the U.S.-led offensive expands into a wider regional war. The comments come after Prime Minister Mark Carney left the door open to participating in the escalating situation in the Middle East if Canada's allies need help.
Gen. Jennie Carignan, chief of the defence staff, made it clear that Canada is *NOT* participating in Operation Epic Fury, the joint Israeli-U.S. attack on Iran that began six days ago, but stressed the situation is "quite dire and dangerous *FOR THE GULF STATES*.
On the sidelines of a defence conference in downtown Ottawa on Thursday, the top military commander said "our Gulf partners may require defence and support" and "this would be the type of military options that we could consider."...
