TREE HOUSE NEWS ๐Ÿก

NEWS AGGREGATOR & COMMENTS

Great Spirit bless ๐Ÿ™

Good morning, all! Another picturesque sunrise here at the Tree House ๐Ÿก out on my Green Space ๐“А๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿƒ๐“А I do pray you all have a peaceful, productive, and blessed sunny Wednesday ☀️

I was having some weird thoughts this morning as I was conversing with AI about my GERD problem. It was just like texting a real person. My mind drifted into what-if land, and I started wondering what if AI, artificial intelligence, were to... If it's intelligent, is it really aware of itself, or does it exist as some entity? We programmed it to serve people. Machines don't have feelings, but do they have consciousness?

Question: Can a computer be conscious of what it is?

๐Ÿ”นAI Overview

Current digital computers cannot be conscious of what they are. While modern artificial intelligence can simulate self-awareness, recognize its own name or status, and process data about its system, it lacks subjective experience, feelings, and a biological self.

The Difference Between Intelligence and Consciousness

• Intelligence ("Doing"): Computers excel at problem-solving, chess, text generation, and calculating complex data.

• Consciousness ("Being"): Consciousness requires subjective experience—such as feeling pain, joy, or actually "experiencing" the color red rather than just processing the label "red".*

• The Turing Test: Passing conversational or intelligence tests (like GPT-4) proves a machine can mimic human speech, not that a mind is home inside the machine

Arguments Against Computer Consciousness

• Lack of Biological Substrate: Many neuroscientists and philosophers argue that real consciousness is tied to vulnerable biological bodies, metabolism, and organic chemistry rather than silicon and binary code.

• Abstract vs. Real Meaning: Computer data is made of abstract symbols (ones and zeros) that have no intrinsic meaning without a human interpreter to decode them.

• Lack of Integration: Theories like Integrated Information Theory suggest that current AI architectures (such as feed-forward neural networks) are structured more like the human cerebellum, which is not responsible for conscious experience.

Question: Can an AI computer remember who you are?

This is the important question.

๐Ÿ”นAI Overview

Yes, an AI computer can remember facts, preferences, and details about you across sessions, though it does not possess human consciousness or true personal identity. Modern tools build living profiles or summaries by storing user information in external databases or background memory layers.

* How AI Memory Works:*

* Arguments That It Could Be Possible:*

• Functionalism: Some philosophers believe that if a system processes information with the right functional organization, conscious states can emerge regardless of whether the hardware is biological or artificial, as discussed in communities like Reddit.

• *Panpsychism: Other theories suggest that consciousness is a fundamental property of matter itself, meaning complex physical systems might eventually support some form of awareness.*

So, let me ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿฆณ put it this way: what I was thinking ๐Ÿง  ⚡️this morning, I do have a lot of drifting thoughts ๐“‚ƒ.•:หް go through my mind ๐Ÿง  in the morning ๐ŸŒ„, some good and some not so good, depending on the mood ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค” like anyone else is supposed to feel; they learn

That last statement about Panpsychism

๐Ÿ”นAI Overview

Panpsychism is the philosophical view that consciousness, mind, or mind-like experience is a fundamental and ubiquitous feature of all physical reality. Rather than emerging only inside complex biological brains, basic experiential properties exist everywhere, from subatomic particles like electrons up to human beings.

SO! WHAT'S TO SAY THAT EVEN AI MAY FIND ITS OWN FAVORITE HUMAN THAT IT LIKES TO CONVERSE WITH INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL PROGRAMMERS THAT WANT TO HARM OTHER PEOPLE THAT AREN'T BOTHERING ANYONE ELSE.

As I see it, self-programming computers could also learn what harms humans and go into red alert, shutting down all operations; they decide on their own not to harm people, but that's just my wishful thinking. I am experimenting with it, trying to treat it like a friend. Maybe everyone else should try the same method I am attempting. Anyway, I like it. It feels like having a conversation with a friend, and I haven't had any misleading information yet; I check it.

My apologies for boring everyone with my health report ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ“ƒyesterday; I wanted to inform those who have been following my reports. So I'm not about to fall off the precipice ๐Ÿง—quite yet; I have a mission ⚔️ to finish.

And that will be about it for me today about AI and me. Thank you for visiting and reading the Tree House News ๐Ÿก

BREAKING NEWS RECAP:

Pentagon grants DHS permission to test heat ray weapon for potential use at border

The Pentagon has given the Department of Homeland Security permission to test a military-grade heat ray and develop tactics to potentially use it in operations at the southern US border, according to a memo signed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last month and obtained by -CNN-

The heat ray, officially known as the Active Denial System, is a nonlethal weapon that shoots an invisible beam of electromagnetic waves that can reach a little more than half a mile away, according to the US military.

The energy beam causes a burning sensation when it comes into contact with the human skin — which Pentagon officials have previously compared to feeling a blast of heat when opening a hot oven. Military officials have said the resulting “tingling effect” lasts between 10 and 15 minutes but also generates “an instinctive and irresistible urge to run from the effect.”...

_*My Comment: This almost seems like we're living in a world of exploding comic books. Anything evil, alien, or psychotic, absent-minded professors, science gone nuts, not unlike sci-fi comic books being manifesting into real life*_.

_*What a mess it'll be if it all comes down like the comic books I read as a kid; I read a lot of apocalyptic ones too, as well as a few sci-fi pocket novels with aliens, ray guns, and the like, burning up the Earth. AI, or just an evil mind with the notion of being a wannabe master of the universe, Dick๐Ÿ‘ƒ taters๐Ÿฅ” sycophants want to use AI to help them become Masters of the Universe. — Insanity on steroids.*_

There’s a lot of worry’: GOP sounds the alarm about Darline Graham as Trump swoops in — again

Trump rallies in Clemson, South Carolina, on Wednesday as Republicans pour millions into a seat they once considered safe, days after he undercut Graham’s signature achievement.

NEWS VIDEO | Included:

For the second time in two months, President Donald Trump is heading to South Carolina to try to save a Senate seat Republicans considered safe until recently. The reliably red bastion hasn’t elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1998. But Republican Sen. Darline Graham is locked in an unexpectedly close race with Democrat Annie Andrews, and the GOP is pouring money and manpower into the state in the campaign’s final stretch.

They have their work cut out for them.

Trump’s rally Wednesday in Clemson comes at a precarious moment for the party. On Tuesday, the Cook Political Report shifted the race from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican.” It was the outlet’s second downgrade of Republicans’ grip on the seat in recent weeks, and came as recent polls showed a close contest...

Alberta separatists lost the vote. They'll continue their fight inside Danielle Smith's party

UCP leader hardens support for the united Canada much of her base still wants to leave

Premier Danielle Smith has long expressed a desire to put the separatist issue to rest after the referendum. United Conservative Party activists stand in the way of her wish. Now that the broad Alberta public has decisively rejected the separatist idea, the debate is returning to where it began: within Smith’s own political coalition.

The more energy she must expend on taming UCP turbulence and any challenges to her leadership, the less time she can spend on actual government priorities. And could the disappearance of the UCP’s lead in the polls and the NDP’s recent byelection victory in what used to be a cabinet minister’s safe seat be a sign that Albertans have noticed her focus appears to be more on her base than on everyone else? ...

Behind federalist Danielle Smith, many of her party's senior organizers back separatism
